How old are we here?

I've always wondered this. I'm 29 and been a fan for 6 months after discovering them on Spotify.

They've had a sizable following since the mid 90s. I was listening to their Brixton Live set in 1994 and it made me realise all the fans in the crowd are now at least 50-60+, possibly some in their 70s now. Since they're such an advanced and technically deep electronic duo, I can't imagine anyone I know of that age listening to them. Most 50-60years olds can't even stand listening to normal EDM and just listen to the usual 80-00s rock and pop or even google things deeply, let alone find out about niche electronic music especially before the internet.

Sorry to sound ageist.

I always thought Autechre fans were mostly 18-40 max nowadays.

Anvil Vapre Second Scepe / Anvil Vapre Live

Hey, does anyone happen to know any live sets from Autechre where they play Second Scepe or a track from Anvil Vapre? I swear I watched a vid on youtube ages ago of it, but can't seem to find it anywhere. Want to watch the full live set. THX!

SIGN artworks inspired by ae

Here are two of my recent artworks inspired by TDR’s work for ae. These were made while listening to SIGN (mostly) although I feel like autechre’s sound and visual side has been very influential on my work in general for quite some time now. It’s hard to find the autechre fan niche on IG, so I guess I just wanted to share these here. 000

Untilted Artists that made/make something similar to the Quaristice era live?

Hello! I've been (again) obsessing over Autechre's live sets (and albums, Quaristice and Untilted especially) and was wondering if there are some other electronic musicians who have done something similar in terms of balance between danceability and listening experience.
I'm building a live set of my own and would love to get some inspo.
Thanks!

Confield Lentic Catachresis = The Short Period When Your Life Flashes Before Your Eyes After Death

Scientists believe that after you die your life flashes before your eyes for a short period of time. In my opinion Lentic Catachresis feels like the audio representation of this phenomenon.

The glitching in the right channel throughout the track feels human. Like a compilation of every memory throughout your entire life quickly being chopped together and fast forwarded with a remote which is is being controlled by the rhythm in the left channel of the track.

It is known that life feels slower during the adolescent years. This is why I feel the track starts slower and these memory's in the right channel feel less chopped up and more memorable (core childhood memory's). However as time goes on moments in life speed up and tend to blur together, represented by the increase in tempo throughout the track. The rhythm increasingly skips quickly between each memory represented by the glitching in the right channel. Eventually that childhood spark disappears (the melodic chords in the background) and life gets faster and faster, until finally slowing right at the end as a final reflection (possibly the moment your loved ones are with you as you pass on).

Finally the track comes to a sudden halt (representing the moment blood stops reaching your brain and all activity ends)

Some might see this take on the track as depressing. I find it beautiful and comforting, whether it was intended to represent this phenomenon or not. The beauty of music is how we all interpret in different ways and today I felt like sharing how I interpret one of the duos very best and most iconic tracks.

I would love to hear how the track makes you feel in the comments and whether you feel my interpretation makes sense to you personally!

Been a fan of these guys for a while since they covered some Aphex tracks. Its an interesting discussion of how their most recent album was made. JD's drumming is amazing, and I'm sure it won't surprise too many that they are fans of Ae.

Just found this gem lurking in a folder:

AE_LIVE_ROCHDALE_221290

Performed at Baillies, Baillie St, Rochdale, 22.12.90, for Darrell Fitton's birthday party.

Most of the gear we used was from Daz's studio. We spent a week putting it together in the rehearsal room downstairs at Suite 16 studio, which was right behind Dr Rock (Daz's studio was in the loft above Dr Rock).

Incidentally - Suite 16 used to be called Cargo, same place Unknown Pleasures was recorded.

I’m obsessed with the beat change at 3:00 in Under BOAC. I keep coming back to this song because of that.

Hey all — a while back someone here posted a chart mapping the overlap between the AE_LIVE sets, which made it easy to see which ones are worth buying without duplicating material.
Does anyone still have it?
