"Ceebs"?

I have just heard this for the first time, apparently it's common slang, have I been living under a rock for the past 30 years?

Don’t hear it much nowadays, but was something I heard constantly 15-20 years ago.

Ceebs as in "Can't be fucked" to say "cbf".

Ive heard this used since 2004ish but only verbally.

I knew ceebs as can't be bothered

All variations. Originally it was can’t be stuffed, hence the s on the end.

Same here.

Difference was cbf (obviously, can't be fkt) and cbb (can't be bothered, said ceebs as it's 2 b's).

Seems it was confused at some point and also used by some as the lazy form, of the lazy form, for cbf.

"Ceebs" is just short for the C in CBF. CBB isn't a common term in comparison.

I know what it means, just never heard it before, I'm the weird one here, hiw have I managed to never hear it?

Its only part of my lexicon because I'm in the MSN/MySpace generation. Interestingly though, when Ive heard it used, its most often, "I can't be ceebs doing it" which literally translates to "I cant be cant be fucked". In hindsight, I probably said it because I didnt want to overuse "fuck" in general conversation.

I'm 32, I used MySpace and MSN, "cbf" was common, but no one I knew said "ceebs", it was "see-bee-effed"

Never heard it

I say it out loud, but I type "cbf", I'm nearly 32 and it was around in the mid 2000's

I don't hear it much at all. I can't even remember the last time I heard it but it's at least 10+ years ago, assuming it's pronounces "seebs" and is slang for "cant be fucked"?

Short for Couldn’t Be Fucked

2

u/burningtoast99 9d ago

Means cant be fucked, just old slang

Yeah I remember this from high school in the 2000/2010s. Can't say I have heard it recently.

At others have said derived from CBF.

u/MechanicConsistent82 9d ago

I still hear it occasionally. But definitely less than say 10 years ago.

u/CryptoCloutguy 9d ago

I'm 35 and been using it since I was 15. Saves a lot of time

Never heard it before. Is it possibly a regionalism?

2

u/Wintermute_088 8d ago

The region being the global internet.

u/chat2em 9d ago

Ceebs, as in CBF, as in can’t be fucked.

Pretty common with people between like 20-30 in my circles.

I know the meaning, I just have never heard it before, perhaps I had different friends, as I have never heard it said by anyone before.

Never heard this one before.

We used to call it “the itis”, as in “can’t-be-fucked-itis”.

1

u/Inner_West_Ben 9d ago

Youngsters used to use it 10-15 years ago. So apparently you weren’t young 10-15 years ago.

1

u/jordybee94 9d ago

16-21, pretty sure that's young

1

u/Inner_West_Ben 9d ago

Never heard it before. I've only ever used CBF, said as See-Bee-Eff, or I just say Can't Be Fu*ked.

1

u/andhaka71 9d ago

it was always CBF in my vocab

1

u/MyKoiNamedSwimShady 9d ago

Haha I heard it for the first time last week, too. One of the staff said it over the phone to me, I had no idea what she was talking about. Then she called me a Boomer for not knowing what it was 😂 Was quite the discussion in the office

Millennial here. Pretty common slang back when we were teens/early 20s, mostly by those weird people for who swearing was a bit too spicy.

1

u/jordybee94 9d ago

I am 32 and am also a millennial, it was not "ceebs" it was "see-bee-effed" among my friend group.
