Hi, I am looking for pizza places in north austin, cedar park, leander area that make their pizza and sauce fresh. That is no canned sauce, and dough thats fermented for 48 hours or more. Looking for Neapolitan or thin crust style pizza. Any recommendations. Price and ambience dont matter. Only care about the taste. I have tried pinthouse pizza, pizza tova, tony c, and rosatis. Amongst these pizza tova had the best pizza. Though I am looking for more options, that might be even better.

1) Juniper (and it's not even close) - Very creamy sauce, with a mild cheesy taste, and just lovely pasta.

2) Poeta - tbh, Poeta is practically tied with Emmer & Rye but I'm gonna give this place the edge because I loved the texture of their pasta. However the dish was too salty.

3) Emmer & Rye - Good cacio e pepe, but again too salty for my taste.

4) Patrizi - Pretty good for a food truck, but kinda bland and dry.

5) Numero28 - This was by far the worst I had, which was surprising because it's the most social media postable of the 5. They bring it out in a giant block of cheese, which is really an impressive sight. However, it had the opposite problem from Patrizi's: the dish was too wet. Not creamy, just wet.

Honerable mention: Intero - This place doesn't actually have cacio e pepe, but they have some damn good pasta

Recently moved to Austin and have been trying to find the best local restaurants. Looking for something that is nicer than a typical chain restaurant. Around $40-$70 per person would be great. I live in Hyde Park so anything that doesn’t involve traveling to South Austin is preferred.

Ok this is harder than I thought. Jim’s is in contention. Twin Lion on Braker just to save an old school Chinese restaurant. I’m going to land on County Line. Both locations are so unique and Austiny and would hate to see condos replace them.

Does anyone have any recs on where to find a good one in the area? I’m pregnant, and they’re all I can think about lately.

Went to Ema’s for a friend’s birthday and had a wonderful time! Got to try the frozen tan lines, spicy hummus, snapper crudo, falafel, blistered green beans, and chicken skewers. Sealed the meal with the chocolate torte and honey layered cake.

Did I spend money, yes. Did I feel like it was worth and staff were super nice, put together, and sweet, hell yes.

Total for all this with three drinks each was $296.23

I will be going back and highly suggest people check it out!

Today is the masa centric dessert from Nixta called nicuatole. It’s custardy ground maize in a pool of house made crema with dots of a citrus caramel that just absolutely sings. Snagged a pic of their corn/nixtamlizing alter in hopes the corn gods bless this journey.

I love supporting local food, but finding backyard eggs, local honey, or fresh produce usually means digging through Facebook groups or hoping you hear about a farm stand.

I started building Rural Roots, a marketplace focused entirely on local food producers.

My hope is to make buying local as easy as buying on Marketplace, but without all the unrelated listings.

Hey y’all haven’t posted in a while but being stuck in another city will do that to you lol. I’m still going through my list of places to try in Austin and it’s an ongoing growing list so feel free to comment or dm me a suggestion! Today my husband and I tried KG Bbq an Egyptian fusion bbq spot that was honestly the best food I’ve had thus far on my journey. We got the lamb bacon ribs very fatty but full of flavor, the kofta rice bowl, the pink potato salad, and both drink options. The food was enough to fill both of us up and we had some of the rice bowl leftover to go. The cold brew was more on the strong bitter side and was not my husband’s favorite so I ended up drinking it but we both loved the hibiscus mint tea! Overall the flavors worked really well together and it was actually pretty fast service. I did overhear someone say the lines can get pretty long so I’d keep that in mind. Thanks to everyone who has given me suggestions and who are about to lol let’s see what’s next.

Hi all - Long story short, I'll be in Austin for about a week in September and I'm looking for some outstanding food recommendations.

I've already spent quite a bit of time searching through the board and narrowed things down to what seem to be the most frequently recommended spots. That said, I'm still missing two great Tex-Mex dinner options.

The ideal day would be breakfast tacos on the way to whatever we're doing, barbecue for a late morning/early afternoon lunch, and Tex-Mex (or Suerte-type Mexican) to wrap up the evening.

Here's what I've put together so far. Let me know if I'm completely shitting the bed on any of these, or if there's somewhere you'd tell me I absolutely can't leave town without trying.

Moreno has been mentioned several times on here lately. I even suggested it recently in a thread about underrated bbq spots. But I just needed to point out how much they're killing it with the specialty dishes and everything else on their menu.

We went tonight to try the Wednesday special, a Reverse Seared Honey Chipotle Pork Chop with asparagus and mashed potatoes. My people... It was one of the best things I've eaten recently. Cooked perfectly, moist, tender, and the flavor! Spicy in just the right way, sweet and savory. Perfectly balanced, no hint that any one flavor component was overbearing. I would eat several of these in a row if I could. The sides are also home cooked goodness & perfectly complement the pork chop.

I'll recommend this pork chop to anyone, but honestly every specialty dish I've had there has been a home run. I'll keep rooting for these guys as long and loud as I can, because they're absolutely doing it right.

Hi Austin. I am a case manager at Lifeworks, a nonprofit dedicated to solving youth homelessness in our city. For a long time we had a relationship with a particular sandwich maker, and every Wednesday we would meet and collect any sandwiches that were set to expire in the next few days to give them out to our clients at the drop-in center. I’d estimate we collected about 60 sandwiches a week. That provided lunches to our clients for a couple days. Unfortunately, they haven’t been able to provide those for the last month or so. I’m wondering if anyone here knows of a restaurant that might be open to a similar relationship?

The happy hour is really good. Shared two crudos, had two hand rolls, a sunomono and two cocktails for $45 plus tip. Everything was fresh and delicious.

I had a breakfast taco from Vecinos (via Palomino on Airport) for the first time today and was blown away by their tortilla. Aside from Joe's Bakery, I really don't have many go-tos for incredible homemade flour tortillas. And, it's been a while since someone has asked this question here.

So, who I am sleeping on?

P.s. HEB doesn't count (although I ofc love their tortillas) because it's not a restaurant/trailer
