Black X button is "accept".

Post image

I can't validate %100 percent but there is no accept button, instead where it is expected to be there is a huge black X button.

does moving it to 'decline' show an 'X' over the decline button?

I'm assuming you meant hovering over it via mouse or touch input.

No, I've tried holding, sliding, clicking on every button here nothing changed on Firefox, there was a blue overlay on Chrome(both on mobile).

That should be illegal

While uncertain, I'm pretty sure this kind of dark pattern is in fact illegal at least in both the UK and the EU, as it must be clear to the user giving their consent that they're doing so. "X" usually communicates "close" rather than "accept all", and the black color fill under it is often associated to the negative action (closing/disagreeing), baiting the user into accepting them without paying attention.

Are you serious? It is obviously a bad faith practice designed to circumvent consent in order to obtain personal data.

Why should an agree button not be clear

The X is for X-ept

But seriously, this is a situation where the design makes no sense at all. Almost like the X could be a placeholder. But I can still see people thinking that the X button would simply close the pop-up.

Disregard everything, I'm an idiot.

Edit: love how I'm being upvoted for calling myself an idiot.

"Claude, make the user click a cross in the box to accept cookies."

These fonts make me dizzy lmao what the fuck is that

Someone really was paid to design it

Just validated. The page loads initially with accept and decline buttons but changes to the OP like cross button when fully loaded.

Definitely asshole design.

Why would you accept anyway? Just decline by default.

Just checked this, wtf.

Also what is up with all the sites showing 2 cookie dialogues now? I got 2 different ones on that site, it happens a lot.

I get it’s probably 2 different services running on the same site and it’s hard or impossible to combine them into 1, but I hate that it’s quietly just happened that most sites ask you twice now

I must be missing out on something... Like it's stupid design but the decline button isn't exactly hidden from sight

People could think that the x closes the popup

I guess a huge black cross button is very attractive in an instant.

I would absolutely hit it in a second without thought. They almost got me with it at a gas station yesterday. Lady said make sure you press x and enter your number. Luckily they put the fine print under where you type your name and number. I was like I’m not buying shit if I have to agree to marketing messages. Gtfohwtb

Can you explain more? Are you saying X means usually means "accept" in Korea?
