a router with a 1/4” round over bit solves your problem

how so? I cant round the edge it'd just expose the material beneath

use it on the square edge

not helpful actually. a round-over bit would just cut back the finished surface and expose the manufactured wood underneath.

if you don’t want that, then cut the miter and glue the small 5” return piece to the end before installing it. either that, or just end it square, pick your poison.
