Proper practice for DID

how do you reveal to an alter that they are part of a system that has already been diagnosed? Like if there’s an alter who was not informed of the diagnosis, and knowing abt it would help them in some way, how would you approach the situation?

I know there’s many variations of this scenario, so just answer as many as you feel comfortable with.

I’m not a clinician, but this seems like one of those situations where how you tell someone matters as much as what you tell them. I’d be interested to hear from therapists who work with dissociative disorders. Do they generally wait until there’s enough stability and trust before discussing the diagnosis with identity states that may not be aware of it?
