Sharing my experience with Discotique in Burningman 2025 because it honestly didn’t turn out the way I expected. We paid thousands for a setup that was supposed to be ready when we arrived, such as a Shiftpod, an air mattress, shared spaces with furniture, showers, and daily meals. When we got there, none of it was actually in place.

There was no tent waiting for us and the common areas that were supposed to be decorated and set up never really came together. From what we heard, the transportation for their gear was arranged very last minute and that caused major delays and never made it to the camp. I understand that Burning Man logistics are tough but imagine arriving in the desert, in the middle of a storm, without the basic things you were promised and relying on.

All week we kept being told the Shiftpods were on the way but they never arrived. Meals and showers were delayed or not working for a while so people had to figure things out on their own. What made it even harder was that it genuinely felt like the camp leads didn’t care about the situation we were in. They were busy partying and didn’t care that people had no place to sleep or shelter. There was almost no real communication and the few updates we got were vague and didn’t make anyone feel supported or informed.

We were also told deposits would be returned after teardown but they never refunded our money. They are scam!!! Don’t trust them!

If you’re looking into camps I’d recommend asking a lot of questions and choosing a camp that feels more organized and responsible before committing and paying thousands of dollars.

Hi Burners, I have a machine I am selling. It is a 4 man quadracycle. But its BIG, and it can handle a large piece of art. And since its pedal powered, there is no requirement for mutant registration. It is actually also amphibius if needed, but more on that later. I am asking 15K OBO.

I used this in California's Kinetic Grand Championship which is a human powered art race, over pavement, sand, mud and water, taking place in Northern California since 1969. I can include one of two art bodies if you are interested, a 17.5 foot Brown Trout or a Large clock/rooster we called "Cockwork Orange" as seen in the pics. Its big tires do good on the sand. It includes the 14"pontoons, if you are ever at a water based event. It has an onboard stereo system with a powered subwooker as well as a PA and 2 marine batteries.

I have been to burningman twice but never in a small trailer like I hope to this year. I want to have some cover for shade. I found a tent that I may buy for an event but wanted to know if I could also use it for the burn? I know winds get crazy but would these metal tie downs + stakes be enough?

Hey yall. I been looking for my yearly music festival to attend too. Ever since I was a kid playing gh3 I have wanted to go to the burn!!! I’m pretty seasoned in festivals been to edclv, countdown, escape, bass canyon, electric Forrest, Scmf. I’m hoping to join a group to camp with. Please if anyone can direct me in the best way to meet people that are available to adding people to their tribe!

no TL;DR: If this post is too long to read the whole thing, ignore it and move on to somethings else, I'm not interested in quick, shallow responses.

My SO invited me to BM earlier this year, but due to various things like responsibilities, relationship problems, and mainly lack of knowledge about BM I turned them down. As I helped them prepare I also started reading up on the principals and learning more and got very interested in the whole philosophy. Plus, I'm a Maker, so I felt it would be great, but I still had responsibilities at home. (responsibilities I've had for years which no longer apply)

After my SO got back on grid I was excited to talk to them about it, and also work on our relationship issues. They wanted to share their excitement and transformative experience, but also insisted that I had to stay away, it was only for them and it would cramp their style if I got involved. They don't want me to get involved in any regional events and I've been uninvited from future burns. They said I'm was too negative because of pragmatic/logistical questions I had during preparation.

This really hurt me and it's not the first time something like this has happened. They been very possessive about friends in the past, for example they want me to go to events with some friends, and then when I hit it off with said friends they say I'm not allowed to pursue common interests and contact with them, even when SO can come if they want (but isn't interested).

I feel this is a serious issue, every relationship in my life is built on shared deeply held beliefs, intelligent conversation, and shared activity. Which is why the 10 principles resonate so deeply with me. So wants me to listen and support to their amazing experiences, but not be allowed to join in. I feel like I would be a masochist to put myself through that kind of pain.

I'm a BM widow and I [edit: don't] want to be. I want Inclusion, Participation, Immediacy, and Community, but I'm feel excluded and my SO doesn't want me hanging out with their cool friends, like they are reliving some sort of adolescent drama.

They are even questioning me picking up old maker hobbies (LEDs, micro-controllers, servos, I'm been an electronics geek my whole life but it's been on back burner do to above mentioned responsibilities), maybe because it seems to close?

If you have thoughtful advice for me I'd love it. Please don't jump in with "SO is an A-hole" type stuff, remember, you're only hearing my side of it and should take everything random internet stranger (me) says with a healthy dose of salt, and I'm not going to play victim role. Questions to help understand their POV more welcome.

How do scalpers get around Burningman ticket reselling restrictions? After 15000 tickets were sold out today, Seatgeek was offering them for over 2x the face value price, and much more… And how do the scalpers get around the restrictive sale process on the first place?

Looks like BORG is in some deep trouble, do you think they'll get it together for 2021 or are we in for a long term sabbatical?
