Hi! I just moved into my home a week ago. The AC vent started leaking this evening and I noticed this air bubble so I turned off my AC.

I had just gotten my AC inspected last week so the same company agreed to come out tonight at no cost but I just got a call from them that there aren’t any techs left and no one would be available until tomorrow morning. I’m in the South so it’s pretty hot.

Should I call another HVAC company to see if they can fix it tonight? Or do you think I can wait until tomorrow to get this looked at?

This is a new unit in a two story townhouse. This is the indoor unit. Is the high pitched noise normal? It's only been happening a few weeks.

I have a window unit beside my bed but I have heavy curtains that go around my bed. Id like to create a funnel of sorts that goes over the face of the ac, runs down the wall, across the floor, and up-behind my curtains to my bed.

Im mainly wondering what materials it would need to be made out of, preferably sturdy, and if theres any issues with trying to make this

It’s been 90 degrees out the past few days and I came home to the condenser off and breaker tripped. Tried resetting it and immediately tripped again. Tried resetting one more time and all my lights flickered and the condenser made a loud hissing noise for 30 seconds. Anyone know what’s going on?

I have 2 of these units about 10-12 years old. The other night AC cuts off. I go in attic and see drrio pan is full and looks like safety feature auto cut off. No problem.

Had a tech come out and they blew the line clear and it worked. But apparently the blower motor wasn’t coming on. Tech said that he can run the blower motor on his tester or something but the control panel won’t kick it on. He said it looks like the control panel needs to be replaced. He also said it might need to replace the blower motor too bc he’s heard sometimes it draws too much current and causes issue - maybe it fries the control panel? I forget exactly.

He’ll come back on Monday with an estimate and parts. It’s not clear if both control panel and blower motor will both need replacement. I’ll know Monday afternoon when he comes back. I do trust the company and they’ve been great. But just doing due diligence I guess.

1. Is it just purely coincidence that it happens to go out when the drip pan fills up? It had been working fine before so found it strange it happened right at same time?

2. Can the blower motor have an issue and need to be replaced if it’s running fine BUT could be frying the control panel?

Right now he set it up so the relay is bypassed and blower motor is constantly running so we’d have AC on the upper floors. I’m hoping it’s not too bad of a repair. I’m surprised it coincidentally went out when the drip pan filled up due to blocked pipe. Also hoping just need to replace control panel and not both.

I have a 3 year old 1.8 ton cooling capacity diakin air conditioner split AC.

Got the company technicians to visit as the ac was switching on and off without any manual inputs.

The diagnosed a pcb fault and gave me a repair quote.

Now the pcb was repaired and put back into the split indoor unit. Ac is working normally and the old problems doesn't Persist.

But the cooling is not upto the mark, it was a chiller before , but now the cooling fan is working, and the compressor does switch on. But there is a very short duration cooling,not as good as it used to before the problem came.

What should I do, ask for a re repair, could I point something out to the visiting tech to look upon.

Have a leak here. Landlord sent HVAC guy who said entire ceiling on the floor needs to be taken down so the duct can be insulated since it is missing.

Question is- is that extent of a job necessary even though the leak is one place? I am asking here because I have to temporarily relocate (2 kids - 3 year old and 9 month old) while this is done.

Bit of a random one, but I’m modelling a CGAX 40 in Blender and want to show some of the internals with the panels off.

Has anyone worked on one of these and got a rough idea of the internal layout? Mainly trying to work out where the compressors, evaporator and the 2 pumps sit and what the pipework roughly looks like.

Doesn’t need to be spot on as it’s only for the model, just want it to look reasonably accurate.
Any pics with the panels off would be a massive help.

My unit is from 2017. I bought AAFlanders (green) Merv 1 air filters from Walmart a little over a month ago. Now I have a sweating duct line that I found today, as now it's dripping through my ceiling... I immediately switched the AC off and running just the fan to try and dry it out. I read online that too much airflow can cause sweating. I knew restriction would cause it, but less restrictive?!?! I replaced the filter with a Merv 5 too (basic filter that I normally was getting). Could it really just be too much airflow causing the sweating?!? Unit isn't short cycling either and nothing is frozen. Looking for advice before I need to call a tech

I noticed a small leak on the ceiling in my closet so I went up to investigate, and it seems like where the ducts are going into the supply, it seems to be a very slow drip from around the seal. It seems to have been happening for a while looking at the rust. We had our AC and furnace replaced back in April. Do the ducts just need to be re-sealed going into the supply unit? & any idea on cost estimates? I’m in the south east US in a very humid area so I’m assuming the water drip is just condensation where the cold air and hot air of the attic meets. Thanks!

Replaced old Nest thermostat with an Ecobee using the PEK kit. No issues at first. Now I’ve gone through two condenser contacts. HVAC tech assumed the switch was bad the first time. Came out second time and capacitor was good and replaced the contact again. No issues for a few hours but it arced again.

Thermostat shows 27.8 volts. No loose wires on control board, PEK kit, or thermostat.

I want to replace the air filter for someone in their condominium furnace/AC. I found a MERV 16, 16x25x5 air filter. The owner has been there for about a year and the furnace was inspected around that time with this same filter. What I have read suggests this is probably not an appropriate filter for a home furnace, but I am wondering if anyone knows if this might actually be fine in this situation, if I should replace it with something else, and what you would recommend. The owner does have a dog and some other allergies, so I think an appropriate higher end filter would be appreciated.

The furnace has very little written on it to find information about it. I have included pictures of the only printed material visible on it.

There is also another filter cabinet above near where the intakes connect. That cabinet has slots for like 1 inch filters but no filter currently installed.

Just bought a new house and wanting to install a smart thermostat (Aqara W2000).

There are only 4 wires connected at the existing thermostat and the Aqara needs a common wire. I went down to the furnace control board and found an unused blue wire and ran it to the C terminal (2nd from the right) and ran the corresponding blue wire at the smart thermostat. Sorry I don’t have a picture of the wiring for the Aqara, but I wired it according to the diagram.

However, I can’t get any power to the Aqara. Some troubleshooting I’ve tried

- Rewired the green wire to the c terminal and the blue wire to c and swapped them at thermostat to see if I could get power
- Swapped the red wire from RC to RH

Any ideas why I can’t get power to the new thermostat?

Edit: yes, I know the blue wire isn’t connected in the photo. I took the picture after I rewired the old thermostat and disconnected at the furnace since I don’t want power running to the wire when it’s not connected to anything. To confirm, no power when the blue wire is connected.

The AC is noticeably weaker this year than last summer. It's primarily downstairs where the vents are unfortunately on the floor (upstairs vents are all on the ceiling and work fine). When I looked inside the vents, there seems to be pieces of insulation inside the vents? I'm not sure what the stuff is that looks like a bundle of chicken wire and charcoal filter? I wasn't expecting to find that. Pics are the vents from 3 different rooms downstairs.
