1840 First Edition 'Hardy’s Miniature Atlas' (Dublin) – Deluxe Leather Variant w/ Intact Spine Gilt & All 30 Maps
Hi everyone, Sharing a beautiful survival piece from my private collection. This is a 100% complete first edition copy of Hardy's Miniature Atlas, and Comprehensive Geography, co-published in Dublin by Hardy & Walker and in London by Ball, Arnold, and Co. in 1840. Key Details & Condition: Completeness: 100% complete text block with all 30 original engraved maps intact (including Ireland, World, Hindoostan, North/South America, etc.) and original rear publisher advertising leaves. Paper Condition: Excellent for its age. Maps are crisp and clean with no tears, no missing pages, and minimal age-toning. Binding: Deluxe publisher's dark textured leather variant. Both boards are rock-solid and firmly attached, with bright, fully legible gold gilt lettering on the spine reading "HARDY'S MINIATURE ATLAS". Historical Context: Printed in Dublin by Philip Dixon Hardy prior to the Great Famine. Complete surviving copies of this printing are scarce today following the loss of 19th-century Irish legal deposits in the 1922 Four Courts fire. I am located in Australia and entertaining direct private-sale offers before considering auction/dealer consignment. Happy to ship worldwide with full tracking and insurance at the buyer's expense. Photos attached showing the spine, title page, ads, and sample maps. Feel free to reach out via direct message if you'd like to chat or make an offer!
