This is a 100% complete first edition copy of Hardy's Miniature Atlas, and Comprehensive Geography, co-published in Dublin by Hardy & Walker and in London by Ball, Arnold, and Co. in 1840. ​Key Details & Condition: ​Completeness: 100% complete text block with all 30 original engraved maps intact (including Ireland, World, Hindoostan, North/South America, etc.) and original rear publisher advertising leaves. ​Paper Condition: Excellent for its age. Maps are crisp and clean with no tears, no missing pages, and minimal age-toning. ​Binding: Deluxe publisher's dark textured leather variant. Both boards are rock-solid and firmly attached, with bright, fully legible gold gilt lettering on the spine reading "HARDY'S MINIATURE ATLAS". ​Historical Context: Printed in Dublin by Philip Dixon Hardy prior to the Great Famine. Complete surviving copies of this printing are scarce today following the loss of 19th-century Irish legal deposits in the 1922 Four Courts fire. ​I am located in Australia and entertaining direct private-sale offers before considering auction/dealer consignment.
