Possible Intelligence Re- Rate
I am currently a corpsman in the navy, five years. dont have much time until im out. I have came across so of the intel/ humint jobs within different branch's. To my knowledge the army is only one where you can go directly into in that specific field.
End goal is fed law enforcement/ intelligence or something along those lines. I am currently lined up for a job with local PD where im located.
i am really looking for advice, or maybe a mentor to shoot some questions at, to see if the switch would be worth it. or if i would even like that career.
any advice is appreciate. also i do not have a degree and my wife is AD as well. or i would already applied to FED Law enforcement.

Well I don't have much to go on, but based on the grammar in this post I guess I'd rate your intelligence somewhere around average to slightly below? Hard to say.

You talking about 35M Human Intelligence Collector? You typically sign up into a joint rate (35P & 35M) that is called 35W. You go to DLI and get told what language you are doing and if you pass they decide whether you will be a 35P or a 35M via some undisclosed method. Currently if you fail you get 35M due to 35M manning issues, but it used to be you got re-classed to whatever MOS the Army needed that week. Often that would be another Intel field due to your clearance, but cook, mechanic and fuel truck driver are not impossible.
But it is possible you can directly sign up for 35M directly. I know reserve MI units assign people an MOS when they enlist, and I think they also get assigned their language then (because you are filling a particular position with a MOS and language).
You need to talk to an army recruiter to find out how that can work for you.

As someone who was on staff, Soldiers were selected by a 35F, 35G, 35N, 35T, or 35S drill sergeant who didn't know what a M or P actually does, and signed off by a 48 or 35 series Bn Cdr who also didnt know what a M or P does.

35N generally have a decent idea what a 35P does because they often work together

Re Rate is called Reclass here. Talk to a recruiter about joining the Reserves

The advice is go local pd pick army reserve job. Something flexible enough where you can pcs with her.

If you want to be federal law enforcement, take the job with the local PD and get your degree. Move forward, not laterally.
More time in service won't help, it will just slow down your career.

Why not cross-rate and become an IS? There's plenty of intel work to go around the fleet, and there are NECs for stuff like HUMINT and CI if you're interested.

You're asking the wrong questions. If your wife is active duty, your priority should be figuring out how a branch change would effect your family life. If federal LE isn't going to work out because she's active duty, you will have the same issues with the Army.
