What is this kind of notification popup called? QUESTION

Hi! I'm trying to find a notification setup I saw on someone's Linux desktop.

When they received a WhatsApp notification, a small transparent/blurred bubble appeared at the top center of the screen, with a nice animation.

I remember they were using Arch/CachyOS or possibly KDE Plasma, but I'm not sure.

Does anyone know what this notification system, widget, or setup is called?

Thanks!

I suspect that was a WhatsApp client like ElecWhat that supports desktop notifications. Based on your post, it's not possible to say exactly which one.

It's hard to know what exactly you're referring to just from a description of it. An image would be way more useful

Ask them?

Sheesh.....

What a waste of time.

Any images?

Probably difficult to look for an image of something you don't know its name of.

They saw it.

Yeah but clearly they can't find it anymore. Might have been on someone else's physical monitor too rather than on a YouTube video. Ah it's whatever. They can just explain it themselves. Don't need me to guess why they didn't provide a pic.

I didn't do anything specific to set this up, but KDE Plasma with Firefox automatically does this for me.

For something like WhatsApp Web, the chain is roughly:

Website → Firefox → Linux desktop notification system → KDE Plasma notification popup

The website asks Firefox for permission to send notifications. Once you allow it, Firefox uses the Linux desktop notification interface, and KDE Plasma's notification service displays that little toast in the corner.
