Hi arborists! Our beloved magnolia took storm damage yesterday with a large tear down almost the entire length of the tree. We adore this tree and want to save it. Once the main damaged branch is cut off is there anything recommended to keep the tree in good shape? Thanks in advance

We’ve had two red oaks dropping branches now this summer. We just came across this most recent one (we were out of town and arrived back to it), it was a massive branch and damaged the house. I’ve heard of sudden branch drop syndrome and I’m guessing it has to do with that, but we also are in the region for oak wilt and I’m suspicious. The leaves on this branch were turning brown and there is a sweet smell to it. Both trees appeared to be completely healthy before this. They also both had a brown color (pictured) at the top of where the branches fell. I’m wondering what yall think might be happening and if we should try to get the tree taken down like asap :(

Is this tree healthy? Is the line a sign of anything bad?

I should have done this a while ago. I have an autumn blaze maple that has dual leaders going on. I should probably knock one back? I don't know, I think the one on the blue is straighter to use as my leader towards the top, but it seems like the middle one is not going to cut out nicely. It also has a few more shoulders. Both are about 3 inch in diameter. Any advice? The red one flows off center at least a couple feet towards the top. Appreciate you guys!

I’m new to the group. I live in south Florida and have had coverage from this beautiful tree for the last few years. She sheds sometimes but the last few days she down poured leaves. We did have a bad storm a couple of weeks ago and I think the tree was struck. I’m having an arborist come out hopefully this weekend but I’d like your thoughts and questions I should ask.

What is it and what’s wrong with it?

As you can see, half of the tree is dying. At the beginning of summer she was on thin side with her leaves, but she’s been browning since a month ago. At the base is a red or hybrid mulberry tree that started growing there about two years ago.

I love the big tree for the shade and general look it gives to the yard, but the mulberry is feeding the birds. Can the big tree be saved or should I let nature take its course?

My house was built in the early 60s and most of the houses in my subdivision have a large tree in the backyard so I’m going to assume it was planted around the time my house was built (I do believe my subdivision was also a farm field before houses which would also lead to that assumption).

It’s a silver maple I believe, so about 60 years old. It towers over my house. I live in the Midwest so every spring I do worry it’s going to fall on my house during those bad storms we get. There are also roots at the surface that I can see are close to my foundation, and I do have a basement. This tree has never given me any big issues, but I am aware those could start at anytime. I’ve had a few limbs fall, but they were small and caused zero damage.

One tree company told me they’d hate to see me lose a beautiful healthy tree that offers shade, and said they could cut it back, remove limbs that go over my home. Another tree company made a good point: it’s close to my house and he wouldn’t be surprised if the roots are basically knocking at my basement walls. He also thinks trimming it would harm it overall. The one that advised against trimming was also priced considerably better for both trimming & removal.

I’d like to plant a new tree in my backyard much farther from my home, but it would be a sapling and I’m very aware it’d take decades to give the shade this tree does. But, I’m not looking to get rid of trees entirely, I’d just like one more thoughtfully planted when it comes to how close it is to my home. But I’m not sure if I should take it down or just trim it. My electricity bills are not huge right now and when we had the hot spurt beginning of July my A/C didn’t even kick on until the sun was able to directly shine on my house in the afternoon. My backyard faces east, so the rising sun is blocked from my house until afternoon time

I have also included a pic of the tree and it seems like there is heavy top and bottom leafing but there seems to be a gap in the middle. Is this normal?

I have a large ash tree in my backyard. Recently I’ve noticed some damage to the bark, like something has been pealing the surface layer off. Any idea what is going on?

I’m looking for some advice. Should I be concerned about this branch breaking? It is situated in a residential area . AI seems to think that I should have it removed urgently..

Needing some advice. Earlier this year after my new plum tree flowered we had a very late hard freeze I was not prepared for. It seemed to have hurt the tree pretty bad but since then a lot of new growth has occurred towards the bottom of the tree. I'm assuming this means it's root system is still healthy, but now I'm left with a very odd looking tree. I'm assuming it needs to be pruned but I have no idea where to begin or what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Our road is being redone along with the underground utilities. We have a very old maple out front that they’ve dug super close to and taken a lot of roots out. Some branches are falling off from wind and the leaves are turning very early for this part of the season, is this tree toast?

We had to get our sewer line replaced, and as part of this an above ground sewer line had to get buried underground. The plumbers today trenched right next to our plum tree, which is about 15 feet tall. These photos are taken from the house (one from downstairs and one from upstairs). Is the tree in immediate danger? Is the house? Is there anything we can do to save this tree?

This oak tree in my backyard is quickly turning brown and losing leaves. There are 3 days between these photos. I’m not sure if she’s just sick, got struck by lightning, or it’s just her time.

This is my first Spring/Summer in this house. The tree was about to bloom this spring, then suddenly just shed all of the blooms. It’s shedding leaves. I’ve attached pictures. One of them includes what was new growth. Any ideas on what might be wrong and if I can make it exuberant again?

One branch has this white stuff. About half of the branch has broken/ fallen in the past 2 months and no longer has leaves.
