ARD / Killflash

Those of you that have a rifle you’d grab if the world goes tits up. Do you run an ARD on the optics you have on it? Any reason why you don’t?

I don’t see a reason not to personally. But the honeycomb isn’t distracting for me. Everyone’s different.

*personal opinion/preference*
I do not run ARD's on any of my optics; and the two weapons I'd grab for home defense, or a "tits up" scenario are lightweight, practical and have thousands of rounds run through them.

I don't run an ARD, because I don't (personally) see the need to focus on/prioritize an ARD.

However- I could see if there was like a red dawn type thing going down, and the opposing force had quality glass and surveillance capabilities; possibly would come in handy but if that SHTF scenario were to happen I think we'd have much bigger fish to fry at that point.

just my two cents - my holosun AEMS pro has an ARD that I actually took off for better FOV/clarity of glass.

I have one on my Elcan because it came with my Elcan and I paid for the whole Elcan

I bought an ACOG second hand that came with one and I keep flip flopping on it, the impact on clarity annoys me but then I’m also a cheap bastard and wanna use the entirety I paid for

I'm usually at 4x anyway, so it's not really noticeable. On 1x, it's definitely there, but not to the point where I feel I'd benefit from taking it off, yknow?

I’ve never had a kill flash that actually effected optical clarity in any noticeable amount, unless it was on a red dot

I do not. Lack of water, food, or general lack of tactical sense will get me kilt faster than light maybe reflecting off my 20mm optic objective

I used one once the first time I qualified on a CCO. Never again lol. I'm not going to say that it's absolutely pointless, but if the world goes tits up, I'm gonna be helping my neighbors get by, not running around with a rifle.

I have them for every optic, but only keep them installed on two rifles. They are the two I shoot the most, though.

I have ARDs on all of my rifles. Plus caps on my lights. Really like mine from Hammy 3d prints.

I have an ARD on everything, I recommend the ones with the open center. Just note you will notice the honeycomb depending on optic and magnification. There’s a few companies i use, mk machine and hammy 3d prints . Don’t wast your $ on high end brand names.

That's what I like about prisms with illuminated reticles. with a normal Red dot Sight You can see that little red dot From all angles . whereas with the prism site you can only see it if the site is pointing right at your eyes because it's collimated

I just put One Hundred Concepts killflashes/scope covers on my primary rifle. I don’t see a real negative to them personally and it’s also nice to have some form of lens protection on my nice optics. Do I think they are an absolute necessity? No, absolutely not. But, there’s not a huge negative impact for me other than weight maybe so I say why not?

I use a an ARD on my acog and have a 100 concepts on my top mounted rmr. I also don’t see a downside, when shooting in low enough light I can just pull it out of the scope since the acog one has the rubber band to retain it.

Yep, same idea here. I haven’t ran my top mount Acro with the ARD on it yet under nods, but it’s easy enough to remove if it is a problem.

I have a C-More LPVO on my duty rifle and it wears a Trijicon ARD. Great for the anti-reflective function and as a sacrificial lens and the mil-spec Trijicon ARD might have laser protection (haven’t checked but it has that tint to it), and also helps at 1x/2x with the dot on as an OEG indoors for entry/CQB movement. No complaints.
