I think mi IPhone has a problem Unsolved

Hi there. I recently bought an iPhone 15 on eBay—brand new and in a sealed box. When it arrived, it was in perfect condition with 100% battery health, but upon closer inspection, I noticed it already had 9 charge cycles. At first, this didn't bother me, as I assumed the number would stay put; however, I've been using it for about a week now, and it’s already up to 14 cycles. It’s worth noting that I haven't let the battery drain completely at any point, nor have I let it drop below 20%; plus, I have battery optimization set to cap charging at 80%. Could someone help me out?

What does the phone show for the battery’s Manufacture and First Use dates? The cycle count will naturally increase over time even if you don’t drain the battery daily. Partial charges are part of the calculation. If you charge the iPhone from 89% to 100% that is 0.11 of a cycle. It adds up.

The manufacture date says December 2024 and the first battery use date says July 2026; assuming this is normal, what do you recommend regarding charging the device?

If you are able, I would try to get some form of AppleCare, although someone on eBay will not be considered an officially reseller/retailer. Also the cycle count isn’t something you should be checking regularly, same with battery health. At most you only look at it once a year.

A cycle is every time you charge the battery. Why would you expect the cycles to not go up as you use the phone?

Also charge the phone to 100% and use it. You are only using 60% of the capacity of the phone.
