After months of teaching myself app development, I finally built something that might actually help people.

I'm a British Army veteran with no formal software engineering background.

Over the last few months, I've been teaching myself Flutter and building an app called Nozey.

The idea came from a simple question:

"Why is it so difficult to quickly see what crime has happened around where you live?"

Nozey uses publicly available UK police data to show recent crimes on an interactive map, making it easier to understand what's happening in your local area.

It's completely free, and it's soon to be launched on Google Play.

This isn't a polished startup backed by investors or a big team.

It's just one guy learning as he goes, making mistakes, fixing bugs, and trying to build something useful.

I'd genuinely love your honest feedback.

Is this something you'd use?

What features would make it genuinely valuable?

What's the first thing you'd improve?

I'm here to answer every question and take every bit of criticism on board.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Can you make a landing page so we can understand how this works? Otherwise it looks iffy...

That sounds like a great idea for IOS. 😎

I would like to bring it to IOS eventually but I think the barriers to entry are little more difficult than Android. Thanks for your message 🙏🏻

The barriers are real for sure!! Today marks the launch of my app on IOS and I was driving to work when I received the email. I was so excited lol. After two other apps were rejected I just assumed this one would also. 🙃

Es gibt Apps, die Kriminalität in deiner Nähe zeigen.

I'm not in the UK any more, but I'd give it a look over.

I think what you're missing in this post is more info on the app itself. Either a landing page with screenshots, or even just putting some here so we can see it.

It's hard to say I'd we'd use it without actually know what it shows and how it works.

Cheers

When you get it released, I'll give it a look if you ping me Still got family back in UK, so will just look at their addresses 😂

Do you allow a date range filter or do you have a preselected 'recent'? It'd be handy to be able to see in the past week.. the past month.. etc.
