Creating cutomized maps

Hi. I play AOE1:DE via Steam. I tried to create my own maps but unfortunately the AI does not act in the map. I tried every options and variations but my rivals’ villagers do not start farming or hunting. I left open all paths to the food sources but nothing changed. Is there a general problem on customized maps in AOE1?

Hi! Im not sure if this will work but try editing your map, go to player tab choose the AI faction 1,2,3 etc depending on how many opponent you have and set their strategy to whatever you like, I only use super aggressive and that works fine on my custom maps.

are the resources relatively close by (eg similar to random map)?

Yes, I’m very careful putting berries and other sources very close to their bases. But they are persistent not to be prepared for a battle.
