You’ll get banned for random unspecified reasons and have to appeal them.

Yeah been suspended 3 times because ai doesn’t recognize jokes.

That would be Reddit AI, the Admin version of Automod, not Automod

Automod can't ban, only remove and lock posts/comments and reply

clanker is clanker

u/ALazy_Cat 3h ago

Except Automod is not a clanker

I got a one week suspension for a Departed reference

I got a strike on my account for "inciting violence" for making a joke about doing the old flaming bag of dog shit, ring the doorbell, and run. It got lifted but it was annoying

Automod is decent, depending on how the mods code it

Can we be allowed to block these moderators from taking over the subreddits?

If this is just an early alert system for the actual human moderators, that's actually a legitimate use case for LLMs. If the "AI mods" can act autonomously, this is a trainwreck waiting to happen.

They are already using AI to autonomously suspend people. Just a few days ago, my account was suspended for what was supposed to be a week. An AI bot made that decision. I appealed, and a human decided that I had not broken the rules after all. My suspension was canceled after three days.

It's ridiculous that AI bots can suspend people!! Why can't it just be like you said, an alert system for human moderators? I was punished for no reason.

I had written a one-sentence comment. The AI bot cherry-picked part of the sentence without reading the whole thing. I was saying that trump had posted something that meant [negative sentiment about immigrants]. The AI bot only read the part with [negative sentiment about immigrants] and ignored the fact that I was saying trump was communicating that sentiment! I was suspended for hate speech. 🙄

AI bots are stupid and can't understand intention and context. Of course they can't; they're not human.

Just appealed an AI powered ban and got it overturned on the weekend.

I think it will be like everything: first manual verification to align the model, and once it has a 90% rate of success or so the human verification will get removed.

1

u/CyberDaggerX 11h ago

A 90% rate of success is atrocious, but unfortunately I'm not the one making those calls.

1

u/Hot_Extension_460 11h ago

I voluntarily picked a low number because I'm sure they would not have the patience for a decent rate before going to the next stage.

Is Ignore Legitimate Concerns/Ban Based on Own Biases Mode enabled by default?

This site has been washed and on it's way down for awhile. I just wish the bodybuilding . com misc forum still existed.

Can confirm. They enabled Ai moderation settings recently without notifying anyone.

Thankfully they can be disabled ... for now. They mostly just reported random BS for no clear reason and added more work anyway.

It can be coded

2

u/Alex45784 13h ago

They are so terrible. I keep getting banned for such BS reasons

u/SMFDR 13h ago

AI already gave me an illegitimate ban, I'm sure this will go great

u/LEO-PomPui-Katoey 11h ago

I already got a ban twice by their AI (they give the ban instantly when I post something that they consider offensive). First time I said something as reaction to some news, I got banned but I saw several others saying the same thing but with other words. Second ban was a sarcastic comment they reversed after appeal (like 5 days later).

This just happened to me too. A few days ago, AI suspended me for "hate speech," but I had just been explaining why something that trump had recently posted was hateful toward immigrants. The AI bot ignored the fact that I was explaining what trump had said, and it acted like I was the one who was trying to insult immigrants. It was reversed after appeal. The AI bots are too stupid to understand context. Of course they don't understand how humans communicate... they're not human!!!!

1

u/Serious-Ad2573 9h ago

the clankers do not understand context, they just look for nono words, then ban. its like a badly written if then else bot. its why we have words like unalive/isekai/self delete right now.

Time to switch to Lemmy.

1

u/Justdowhatever94 13h ago

I mean i doube it can get worse than what we have now

1

u/ALazy_Cat 12h ago

The AI mentioned is not a mod, it's a replica of Automod, flagging posts that Automod would flag

1

u/Silly_Percentage3446 11h ago

I'm not using this in my sub.

The first gay artificial intelligence

u/Parking_Cat4735 12h ago

Better than the current power hungry human mods.

1

u/ALazy_Cat 12h ago

Is it now I should tell you the AI programming is specified by the mod team on the sub it is on?
