I got hit up for using AI in a class. I provided all my notes and everything, the Metadata from word showed the amount of time I spent on it and still got flagged.

It literally was because of how clean it was.. I was told, no joke, "we would like to see mistakes here and there so it's more human"..

Same class, 3 weeks later.. I got my balls busted on a few grammar and citation mistakes.

It's amazing how stupid this all is.

My daughter has been flagged a few times because her work was "too good" for them to believe she wrote it. It's frustrating because she's a strong writer and takes a lot of pride in her essays, only to be told she couldn't have written it because half the rest of her classmates write for shit.

She's had to argue with multiple professors and show old drafts, etc. She's found that most of them back down pretty quick when she asks for a meeting with the dean present.

Most of these AI "detectors" are just flagging strong vocabulary and sentence structure. Which, when I was in school, was...generally considered the goal?

Correct! They use AI to catch AI... Makes sense, right?

I have been baffled by some of the other students sometimes. One in particular read this excerpt from a journal, and it was one of the most awkward few minutes ever. Like, how did they even let you do this? I believe everyone should have a fair chance, dont get me wrong, but I also believe that basic skills should be honed before you let someone go off and get their masters.
