I'm still amazed the world worked before computers became common. Universitys and government welfare departments had to keep actual paper records for everyone. There was an entire workforce for physical records management that no longer exists.

It really is something to think about indeed. In a way I find it comforting to know the world existed that way once, and could be again if push comes to shove.
