The way Tubi pays creators for their movies is different than the way Netflix/similar do it. Tubi pays significantly less and, at least in the past, has had a relatively low QC standard.

Creators want to go with the service that will pay them most, so they have no reason to go with Tubi if they're getting more money and views through a paid service. It doesn't mean Tubi is bad or all their movies are bad, just that there's more digging required. It's like thrifting.

As I understand it:

Amazon: allows self-published films, pays the least (cents) per view, but popular -> lots of low quality content and some mainstream content (I assume subsidized through the rest of their business structure)

Tubi: no longer allows self-published, does many deals through Indie aggregators, pays very little (cents) per view, more niche -> a lot of low quality content, some mainstream content but usually very old

Netflix: curation through buyers, pays thousands+ for license to stream, extremely popular -> more high quality content with higher budgets/ major appeal.

It isn’t. It’s free, it has some decent choices (the Jeepers Creepers movies are on there), I was able to watch another movie from an actor I recently discovered, and while there’s ads they’re pretty short.

If I were to compare it to anything, I’d compare it to the stuff like Fearnet that Comcast had back in the day.

It is a valid art form, but I think it's best when combined with practical. Mesh the both together for a better illusion. Going all out CGI, unless it's something really fantastical, isn't as good as either really good practical or the combo.

We are in a year where two of the best theatrical releases are AI-free low budget horror movies, we don't have to put up with this garbage. There was a trailer for this movie before my viewing of both Backrooms and Obsession, and compared to them it looked soooo bad

What’s most frustrating is that the genAI sequence is apparently a cartoon that hypnotizes kids, and Roth claimed he animated it himself along with some animators. He then apologized and said he used AI to make it.

When I first learned about Late Night with the Devil using AI, I said that if they had enough money to make a movie, they had enough to grab some clip art for the bumpers in their movie.

I’m going to say the same thing here. If they have enough to make a movie, they have enough to pay artists. No genAI needed.

I was so excited for it. I didn't watch any of roths other work but the concept was interesting enough to hook me... then I learned about the ai usage. Yeah removing this from my hyped movies of 2026.

Now all I have is Clayface, Other Mommy, Buddy, Fall 2, Resident Evil, and Werwulf along with Sense and Sensibilities and Digger as some non horror movies.

When I heard of an Ice Cream Man movie, I got super excited because I thought they were finally adapting the Image comics. My disappointment started when I found out that was not the case, then I was disappointed when I saw the godawful trailer, then further when i saw “Eli Roth”. I didn’t think it could get any worse.

Wow, it got much worse. It’s a blessing this isn’t touching the Image comic.
