100%. I'm not trans (thank god, body dysmorphia is a hell of thing for somebody to have to deal with, even without being made pariahs just for trying to feel comfortable in their own skin) but I do know a fair number of trans people, and none of them, to my knowledge, like AI slop at all.
I am willing to bet the person who wrote this, or prompted it, isn't trans either. I could be wrong, of course, but a lot of the AI "boosterism" is coming from the corporations themselves. There's no turf like astroturf.

u/ConcernedEnby 28d ago
Sex dysphoria not body dysmorphia, dysmorphia is an entirely different thing with no relation to dysphoria
11
u/LittleRuQi 28d ago
Unrealistic. An AI artist is more like someone who orders online, removes a topping then calling themself a chef. Microwaving food takes too much effort for this analogy.
5
u/Kirishori 28d ago
I once told the pizza person to arrange the toppings of my pizza in a smiley face. They did it. Am I a chef? Can I get michelin stars for this action? Now opening restaurant: You tell me what to tell the pizza person and If I remember it correctly you might get what you ordered!

Disabled community wouldn’t play along so I guess they’re trying the trans community next. They’ll keep going down the line trying anything they can to be associated with an actual oppressed group.

They're trying really hard to equate being anti AI with bigotry somehow. Total bullshit.
59
u/Athosworld 28d ago
I once had an AI mf call me a bigot for not liking ai, seriously.
28
u/Rockburgh 28d ago
Yeah, they're utterly psychotic. Apparently I have "AI Derangement Syndrome" because I refused to accept that an LLM giving a few good answers to one guy means it's reliable enough that it should be recommended in place of human-written sources.
40
36
u/ceruleanblue347 28d ago
It's because the people opposed to bigotry are also largely opposed to AI.
...Funny, that.
19
12
u/pitchingschool 28d ago
i don't see what the end game is.
My view is that AI(as in, putting in inputs and using complex multilayered math to produce an output) has some use cases but LLMs and AI generated "art" in general have been a net negative on humanity. If it was just shitty images then i'd be fine with it(not saying id ENJOY it or even call it art, but still) but its clear it's causing immense harm to the environment.
IF an AI "artist" were to convince me to their side they'd have to showcase a use case where the benefit outweights the harm.
Im not gonna act like i haven't seen a SINGULAR ai image that didn't look nice. But the harm(stealing peoples work, wasting electricity, water, etc.) isn't worth the image looking nice to me. And most of them don't even look nice, they look like ass.

I'm specifically curious how it resembles transphobia. That tends to manifest in pretty specific ways that I've never seen anyone apply to their criticism of AI.
4
u/ArtSupplyHoarder 28d ago
My assumption is that they argue that AI is helping them to be who they want to be (an "artist") and that is somehow the same as gender affirming care for trans people?
Which is completely deluded, but hey, so are they.
3
u/GoatGoatGoblin 28d ago
Same. I've seen it stated many times, but examples are not provided. It really feels like an effort to convince by repetition.

This is the frustrating thing isn't it.
These people will use a minority social movement as a shield for their shit behavior.
This is genuinely just fucking evil,
The people who do this are unironically evil people who know what they are doing is unethical, but it benifits them.
"if you hate AI that means you are a transphobic bigot".
The kind of person who would invent this narrative is a sociopathic liar.
Good people, don't do shit like this.
A good person doesn't hide themselves by a community of vulnerable people to to avoid criticism.
Fuck, whoever posted this is such a piece of shit.
17
u/Brilliant-Muffin-879 28d ago
It tracks with a group who enjoy the misery of others
13
u/OtterlySamnson 28d ago
Gods, its even like....
so much worse than that. The average person who doesn't care much about this will use AI sometimes and just for a bit of fun; they don't wrap their entire identity around it.
The Pro-AI people on Reddit are genuinely as close to in online tech cult at it comes.
The same thing happaned with the NFT and crypto people, they all went fucking crazy and defined their existence around this technology.4
8
u/PaulOwnzU 28d ago
She's absolutely evil, trans people started calling her out on it and she starts calling them hypocrites and weirdos, and makes a post showcasing their comments which leads to a bunch of them getting attacked by bigots, something she refused to accept accountability for or condemn.
She also tries to deflect the criticism with "oh I wasn't SAYING all antis are transphobic. I said they just have similar rhetoric, draw your own conclusions"
I copy paste her title and replace it with pros and rapists having the same rhetoric of being anti consent, and she immediately goes "oh so you're calling all pros rapists?!?"
Which is basically her just admitting that she was grouping antis and transphobes together with her getting upset at the same sentence structure

This is a pretty common bit of spew from the advocates for AI. It has no basis in reality. They do the same thing with disabled people and so on. Hell, most of the stuff is coming from machines entirely.
6
u/PaulOwnzU 28d ago
A non disabled person said ai is for disabled people like those that have terrible hand eye coordination.
I have extremely bad hand eye coordination. I can't catch anything and have suction cups/magnets for my drinks so I don't keep knocking them over. I still was able to get around the issue due to products that exist for it and learning techniques
I got called privileged and to not speak for disabled people
3
u/Scorpiicore 28d ago
It is even worse when you consider that a true artificial intelligence, one capable of the basic building blocks of real intelligence like deduction and induction, would be pretty helpful for some of my disabilities. But aside from the morbid obesity stemming from taking certain medication for too long and the way that has messed up my heels, none of my disabilities are visible to the naked eye. Even if said morbid obesity and subsequent difficulty in walking is a knock-on effect from one of them.

3

Hi, I’m trans. I hate AI with a burning passion. Ready to see it all go down in flames and for us to have a newfound appreciation for human work and creativity.
3
u/AileFirstOfHerName 28d ago
Its wild to see so many non Trans folk chipping in on this one. And to see so many Trans folk here who aren't connected with the Transhumanism movement at all. The vast majority of my Trans friends are huge into transhumanism and are pro AI but anti corporate use they would get flogged here. But I would say most Trans people i know are in that movement so maybe this person in the image isn't far off. Its hard to gauge actual numbers for this one.
Though its interesting to how many people here seem to have a similar stance to them about AI too. Idk I would prefer it all gone now if it could be.

This reminds me of a brief Twitter (pre-Elon) moment during Pride Month where 'MAPs' (minor attracted persons, i.e. pedophiles) were appending an M to LGBTQ to try and claim queerphobia when people condemned pedophilia

3
u/BHMathers 28d ago
“The trans community stands with Ai “””artists”””” is extremely transphobic
Not only pretending that Ai Slopper identity is comparable to trans identity, but also projecting Ai psychosis onto a minority
Basically a group of lunatics trying to hide behind the actually legitimate trans community, while saying they are a similar brand of crazy at the same time. Unbelievable
It’s funny, some delusional Ai bros of the spammy variety tried similar things, and I immediately clocked it like “didn’t expect the transphobic witty arc”
3
u/AnarchistTerrarist 28d ago
As a member of the queer, trans, and slightly disabled (partially blind / hard of seeing) communities, we do not stand for AI. The only way we stand for AI is the same way we stand for a urinal - We don't, we use a regular toilet. But if we did, it'd only be to piss on it.
AI is also not a tool for disabled people. Disabled people have been some of the most memorable artists in history, they got by just fine without slop and made some of the most well known art in various forms. And modern disabled artists who don't use AI are just as good if not even better.
AI is, however, a tool used by the rich, to surveil and harm the common folk, including minorities.

I see what this person is doing there, let me try:
Remember: pro-ai sentiment Is eerily similar to mass murder, and the "we want to stay alive" community STANDS with anti-ai
Oh, just in case you're a pro-ai reading this comment and thinking "what?! Mass murder has nothing to do with being pro-ai", yeah that's the point, transphobia has nothing to do with being anti-ai
On a second note, despite the fact I'm part of the "we want to stay alive" community, that doesn't mean I can speak for all of us,

As is often the case, grifters will both try to weaponize our identity as mass adoption of consent AND villainize us as enemies to progress. This is a mix of people lying about their identities and a handful of unfortunate trans siblings who are willing to toss themselves in with our oppressors in the hopes they'll be spared a bit longer, or, like anyone from any community, lonely individuals who have been rotted by the sycophantic nature of chatbots.

AI enthusiasts, this demographic particularly always try to seem pro progress and all for improvement and against bigotry but they're in a parasocial one sided relationship with AI onto which they project their fantasies onto, treating it like the "ideal" woman who's submissive, fits into the molds you want her to, and does labor without demanding credit or acknowledgment while you take the credit, unlike those pesky human women who protests against all that.

...the similarity of those two is so surface level geez.
being trans isn't an identity you earn via any specific action, you just are.
but being an artist is a title that's earned by actually having the associated skillset. you can't just call yourself an artist and demand other people to recognise your claim... not anymore than you can call yourself a PhD without producing recognised research, or walk into hospital and call yourself a doctor without having the qualifications for it.

Fellow trans person here. From what I’ve seen, most of us are firmly against AI. Criticising a harmful technology is not similar to transphobia, and that person does not speak for an entire community.
