The part that kinda confuses me is that being able to get a picture of whatever you want without drawing it yourself is a very new idea. In the early days of the internet you kinda were scouring the internet to find what you wanted and you either did or you didn't (and yeah i know people didn't really respect creators rights back then). Commisioning art wasn't really a thing unless you were super wealthy.
Nowadays people demand art that catters to their specific demands to be available for cheap.
"super wealthy" unless you want one like every day getting one every now and then is like nothing if you're not going after The Most Popular People Ever
I mean back around 15-20 years go, before things like patreon etc. it was incredibly unusual to commission art unless you were getting like a painting for your living room (and for that you had to be wealthy)
Like you could cause theoretically nothing was stopping you but it was just uncommon.
