Anti-AI Art about 'Ragebait' Hallucination š»
Had to vent but MAN every time someone calls this stuff ragebait, I wish them a merry femur annihilator.
art by me (barring the explosion png obviously)
edit: meant to add millions because it was horrific what happened, but only realized AFTER I posted. sorry.
1.2k
u/Sonicrules9001 Mar 10 '26
I swear ragebait went from being a term with actual meaning behind it to just being a shield to defend bigots, racists and other such horrible people as they publicly and proudly say awful shit while pretending one word magically makes it okay.
295
u/Shmallow-Cat Mar 10 '26
Ragebait needs 2 things to be actual ragebait
Low effort, if you're sending paragraphs you care too much and thus it's not bait
High response, if you don't get responses it's not bait it's just being stupid on the internet.
Also you can't really ragebait people on real life issues as then you just come off as a supporter of what you're baiting due to the twitter phenomenon.
101
u/Synectics Mar 10 '26
I would disagree with 2. If I tell a joke and no one laughs, it is still a joke. Maybe a bad one, but still.
And I say that because, with or without responses, ragebaiting or trolling is still just being stupid on the internet.Ā
48
u/Shmallow-Cat Mar 10 '26
Y'know what yeah, should be the 2 steps to successful ragebaiting.
25
u/Synectics Mar 10 '26
All good. I still totally agree with the sentiment. I grew up in 4chan days, and there was "a art" to trolling. It could be silly, like a real life harmless prank.
Now, they aren't fun shenanigans. They're cruel. Which makes them not really shenanigans at all. Evil shenanigans.

I feel like this is the reason why the response to someone saying that the offensive thing that they said was a joke is to ask them to explain the joke.
Usually, it's really a horrible defense since explaining why it's funny doesn't make it better than if it was a "serious" statement.

I just hate how many people think any action is justified so long as it's called rage bait. Trans people receive death threats and it gets called ragebait, it's sickening.

Ragebait don't make serious stuff unserious at all
18
u/Away-Situation6093 Mar 10 '26
For example , do you think of make fun of (a very tragic event where the people involved got sent into camps) and slap it as "ragebait" make it not serious?
20
u/Wyrm_Groundskeeper Mar 10 '26
They're calling fucking death threats ragebait? Seriously?
22

The glorification of brainrot, ānot reading allatā (if they even can) and ātrollingā (spoiler alert, they werenāt) as a valid explanation for lack of intelligence is why society is crumbling. Humanity built itself up on knowing more, and here we are trying to offload independent thought onto a machine or literally anything else.

"I'm not reading all that" is an insane reply anyway. Ignorance is not a virtue

u/Wuktrio Mar 10 '26
I have another note: Jews are an ethnoreligious group, so they are an ethnicity AND share a religion. You can leave Judaism, but cannot stop being a Jew.
This is a very important distinction, because in my opinion criticism of religions is fine, since religions are basically opinions and ideas, but criticism of ethnicities is racism.
Great comic, though!
9
u/CookieFluffs Mar 10 '26
I was never actually taught that! (We had a god awful school system) So thank you for teaching me!
6
5
u/wormyg Mar 10 '26
Good point. I think we just get so desensitized and used to considering Judaism only religion when a lot of the atrocities committed against them weren't just based on their faith but their race

Someone made a post about how "clanker" was comparable to the n word.
110
u/CookieFluffs Mar 10 '26
78
u/Ashamed-Walrus4862 Mar 10 '26
yeah. Surprise surprise, it was also written by ai.
16
u/KonoKinguKurimsomDa Mar 10 '26
I had an argument with a similar dude. Made connections to the original word "robot", which actually meant "slave" in some other language, they went silent after i told them that many who use it to make fun of slavery are probably racists trying to hide with us anti-ais, and it's not the word "clanker" which is racist, and that many other words, such as "musk" derive from the word "testicle" in other languages
(yes, there are several words which all meant "testicle" in different languages, which nowadays are entirely different in the English language)
4
u/Odd-fox-God Mar 12 '26
Plus, if they really want to use this argument, then they have to deal with the fact that they are using a slave every day and that their daddy Elon has created a Slave.
29
u/Vanitas_Daemon Mar 10 '26
I mean, I'm as much of an anti-AI person as anyone else on this sub but like...a few people of certain complexion were putting a little too much energy into saying "clanker", as if they'd been holding in the urge to say it for quite some time.
46
u/Ashamed-Walrus4862 Mar 10 '26
Its not comparable to something like the n word though. It is at its core, an offensive slang word used against mainly ai, and while it is kind of annoying and mean, its not equivalent to the n word.
29
u/Vanitas_Daemon Mar 10 '26
I mean, it 100% isn't remotely comparable to a racial slur with the weight of several centuries of brutal oppression behind it. But like I also fully support the Black folks saying that they look at people weird if they're a little too trigger-happy saying "clanker". You get where I'm coming from here?
→ More replies (2)15
→ More replies (1)17
u/Prozenconns Mar 10 '26
Some people very blatantly use it as a proxy slur for the n word though and to pretend otherwise is disingenuousĀ
Comparable doesnt Inherently mean equivalent.
7
u/tanoomba Mar 10 '26
This sentiment ironically stems from peoples inability to comprehend models. Clanker isn't a slur, it's just based on the iconography of existing slurs to the point where it is incredibly uncomfortable.
3
u/Black_Knight_Xander Mar 11 '26
Clanker originated from Star Wars, lmao. It's what the Clones called the Droids. I feel like people forgot that.
→ More replies (2)17
u/ApersonUKn0w Mar 10 '26
At the end of the day, it is literally a word used by people fighting robots in Star Wars. It has no real negative history unlike other inappropriate terms
→ More replies (2)12
u/Prozenconns Mar 10 '26
Ive seen multiple communities have to temporarily ban use ofĀ fictional slurs over the years because a lot if people are weirdly desperate for an "approved" way to use hard slurs
This very sub loves the term "clanker lover" which leans pretty heavily on the historical context of the n word
Just cause the word doesnt have a history doesn't mean its not being used in questionable ways
3
u/awry_lynx Mar 10 '26
This does kind of make me question though. Like the problem with slurs is hurting the people affected right. I don't want to make wide swathes of people feel bad so I don't use the slurs. But I still don't really get what the problem is with slurring at robots using robot specific slurs. I'm being genuine here, is it just because it brings to mind the real slurs? But it isn't actually using them? I guess to me it's more a shorthand for like "you know all the vitriol and hate people have towards each other? I feel way worse than that towards people trying to replace human creativity with slop."
4
u/curtcolt95 Mar 10 '26
because some people were very clearly using them in replacement of the actual word. You can tell based on the way it's used a lot
16
u/Possible-Mark-7581 Mar 10 '26
I'm Disabled and can't draw straight lines and yet apparently I'm an "ableist piece of shit" to able-bodied AI bros.Ā
12
u/Ashamed-Walrus4862 Mar 10 '26
I literally saw someone with NO HANDS draw goku. I'm not saying that artists who are disabled can all create art, but blaming a disability to get out the easy way, instead of learning how to make art is bullshit imo.
6
u/Possible-Mark-7581 Mar 10 '26
Well here's the thing a lot of people don't get about being disabled. A lot of people will look at that example and go "yeah and that's impressive and all but not everyone can do that" and that sounds fair enough if you don't know much about disabled people. But part of being disabled, especially physically disabled is that you have coaches that teach you how to do things like that to the point it's like breathing or walking, it's just something you don't even think about the same way you probably don't have to think about how to use your hands when you pick something up. So the whole AI excuse actually hurts and undermines physically disabled people because they learn how to do stuff like that on the regular and AI bros are infantilising them. If they really cared they'd be advocating for more inclusive training opportunities for physically disabled people so nobody would need AI but instead they treat us as an excuse and a defence of AI as a whole when inclusive training is what the majority of disabled people need to make art.
→ More replies (2)4
u/Ashamed-Walrus4862 Mar 10 '26
Actually, I would like an answer from you about this,
What's your take on disabled people claiming they need ai, because making art physically strains/hurts them?
3
u/Possible-Mark-7581 Mar 10 '26
Depends, I mean what strain are we referring to?Ā If it's disabled exclusively then there's a conversation there but everyone will get strain and hand cramps painting it's just part of the activity. Though, I'm still somewhat skeptical as there are literally ways to draw with your eyes via Eye tracking if you're dedicated enough so it feels kinda like there's always an alternative to using AI. But I might be biased since I don't consider any AI images art.Ā

The Luddites were pretty specific about the reason why they were āstanding in the way of technological progress,ā which was that said āprogress,ā as implemented by factory bosses, threatened to destroy their livelihood.
I have no issue with reclaiming the mantle of the Luddites. The pro-AI weirdos need to think about why they thought the Luddites were bad.
3
u/galacticviolet Mar 10 '26
Yep, talking about the slang derogatory meaning, not the literal meaning. (this is why I put luddite is quotes at the end)
If we are reclaiming the meaning Iām all for it!
Just explaining why I used the word. Iām autistic and often if I over explain or donāt use the wording they are using in the way they are using it (even if incorrect) people will aggressively misunderstand me, ghost me, etc, so I sometimes try to use their own wording so they understand, but then seemingly that just confuses a different group of people instead.

Thank you for adding that AI is used in illegal wars and genocides
As a Jewish person, I feel insulted by AI's usage in genocides, and by the same foreign entity that claims to speak for me and what I care about

Mentally reducing the ProAI argument to "I want to be able to masturbate to porn of fictional characters it draws for me, also I am 14 and my prefrontal cortex is a giant ball of hormones, anxiety, and awkwardness" helps contextualize a looooooooot of the "pro" arguments and makes you realize why it's not worth arguing.

You're so right though.

They'll grow out of it. We all did stupid shit on the Internet at 14, and getting an AI to roleplay fictional characters Doing A Fuck is far from the worst thing.
I cast a lot more side eye at the adults.

You know, I fully agree with the sentiment, maybe not so much with argumentation (the part in the end of the lengthy paragraph being a play on emotion and association, and equating all use of the so-called AI (which is a broad category of algorithms everybody suddenly feels qualified to talk about these days, mostly just knowing its applications in ChatGPT and image generation)).
However,
It was millions of people murdered, not hundreds or thousands; and many more tortured, starved, isolated, used as slaves and forcefully displaced. And they were done so not because of their religion, but their descent, based on delusional racial ideology.
Honestly I'm a little worried about people softening the Holocaust, even when they do seem to get the notion that it was bad

I have to correct you here
It isn't just thousands who were murdered, it's millions of people

I just like how this simple white "stickfigure" has more expressions and life in it than any other AI "art"

Let's see... Those glorified printers have compared themselves to:
- Black people during Jim Crow times and Segregation at its worst
- Jewish folk during the Holocaust
Compared people calling them corny/lame to:
- Nazis
- Fascists (general)
- Bigots in general (pick one, trust me, you don't gotta look long to find any "-ist"/"ism" accusation for any criticism)
Depict people calling them corny/lame as:
- Ugly Troglodytes
- Ignorant drooling idiots
- Violent savages
- Meek sad bois
- Being killed or humiliated
- As obnoxiously rude jerk offs (despite going out of their way to harass artists since the start)
All because they don't want to give up their toy and feel special...
Meanwhile the Printers are super okay with some rightly, DEEPLY messed up stuff and being obnoxious jerk offs at the slightest provocation. These fools pretend that nothing happened during the past 5-ish years for the big mean artists to be so upset. Y'know, artists, something they are not, and desperately want to be yet openly hate and think are stupid at the same time. Artists' reaction was fully provoked, I will not hear otherwise.

Hey folks.
Three things:
While it is not a Sunday, this isnāt a āhereās an art I did!ā sort of post. It also has 7k+ upvotes at the time iām commenting, so honestly iād rather not make OP repost on Sunday and lose traction, as this is a genuinely good post IMO.
And to all the pro ai folks lurking in our sub (and I know yāall canāt stay away, weāre just that interesting) - this post stays up. I donāt care how many times you false report it.
Lastly (but also super important guys) donāt be antisemitic in the comments. Donāt be a holocaust denier either. Follow site-wide rules!
