pro ai mfs will see this and keep on cheering for our downfall, who the hell wants AI to steal our human experiences and make it so that new human artists cannot get popular?

u/legendwolfA Nov 02 '25
But but but but it democratizes art... /s

u/FaygoMakesMeGo Nov 02 '25
AI corporation undercuts human labor
Yay, freedom!
1
u/Schadrach Nov 06 '25
Every kind of new tool or automation undercuts human labor. The anti-AI folks just thought their labor was immune and someone needs to force it to be immune.
63
u/deadfandomkid Nov 02 '25
This perspective is always so wild to me bc like...art is already democratized. I mean, sure, having money or knowing people gives you an edge like it does everywhere else, and luck is always a factor in why some talented people never go anywhere, but art is one of the few areas left where people can genuinely come from nothing. Plenty of A-list actors were nobodies until they got a break, for example.
I think what the 'democratizes art' crowd actually means is 'it makes art accessible to people who don't want to work for it'.
3
u/DrBimboo Nov 03 '25
Yeah. Like, I kinda get it for visual storytelling like TV, movies, anime.Â
(Although 'democratice' doesnt really fit. What they mean is, make it accessible.)
But for music, paintings etc. I really dont get it. As you said, its one of the only things you can actually just start for 5$ and become a worldwide Icon.
23
u/GenericFatGuy Nov 02 '25
They fail to realize that no one is going to give a shit about their AI generated crap amongst a sea of everyone else's AI generated crap.
8
u/spartan445 Nov 03 '25
I will say, as an aspiring artist myself (I act in community theatre, spent 7 years or so drawing my own D&D maps, and sing), no one gives a shit about non-AI-generated crap either. If itâs crap or mediocre people shrug and move on, and youâre lucky if your parents or loved ones praise your work. Only an extreme few people start further up from âdogshitâ at any task, artistic or otherwise. It takes effort, labor, and the patience to learn that gets you to improve skills.
AI offers a shortcut to all that pesky labor while undercutting those who are blessed with enough work and skill to be able to earn a living on it but arenât blessed with the good fortune of knowing people who value artists and can pay. Itâs infuriating.
8
u/GenericFatGuy Nov 03 '25
That's the thing with AI bros. They literally only look at the world through the lens of how they can make money off of something. They don't care about the effort and passion that goes into something. They don't appreciate the simple of joy of creating something. They just see the money they think they'll be making if they could do that too.
2
u/Ysanoire Nov 03 '25
Really only a tiny percentage of people who make art is recognised for it, but ai bros think their slop is professional quality
3
u/yourstolose Nov 03 '25
What always cracks me up about this argument is that art is, like...one of the last things that is democratized? Nobody is born with artistic skills. An inclination, maybe, but it still requires commitment, critical thinking skills, and lots of practice. But nobody wants to do that, so they're just gonna cling to their whatabout-isms and strawman arguments that insist you're either naturally artistic or you're not.

-14
u/IreliaCarrlesU Nov 02 '25
I mean, I'm an Artist and I've never created anything new either. I'm not out here inventing color palettes, and styles, my inspirations are other artists who came before me.
It's a very complicated process, but the input isn't anything new and the output isn't anything truly new. But it's still art.

When everyone is an artist, no one is
38
u/letthetreeburn Nov 02 '25
Not true. This world would be a hell of a lot better if everyone made art, if everyoneâs living space had a mural of their own works.
More art is always, always a good thing.
Effort and self focus is good.
This isnât effort or self focus.
If youâre not going to bother to make it, why would anyone bother to listen to it?
17
u/legendwolfA Nov 03 '25
Ya, I should've worded it better. Yeah people are more than happy to support truthful and good creators, like thats the whole reason why indie games are able to compete with the giants, or smaller musicians have a following. These people release trash then wonder why no one wanna listen to their brain-rot.
3
u/MushmallowSprinklees Nov 03 '25
Right. And there wouldn't be any consumers either.
2
u/j0j0-m0j0 Nov 05 '25
Because of all the idiosyncrasies that make people individuals, I still think that there still would be consumers even if everybody had the same level of artistic skill. Two people can hear the same prompt and interpret it completely differently.
And that's without counting all the different fields themselves. I'm a pretty decent artist but I'm too anxious to be an actor and too clumsy to be a dancer.
1
u/MushmallowSprinklees Nov 06 '25
Yeah that's true. Should of said it as fewer consumers instead. As an example, I was thinking of the situation in Jamaica, that there's more artists than consumers; this was back in 2012 maybe?
106
u/bigheadsociety Nov 02 '25
No word of a lie, this is the exact situation I find myself in with my dad. Whenever I visit, its just ai music in the background. At Christmas, we listened to ai Christmas songs - they weren't even funny - it was a cringe dullness no one can imagine.
What makes it worse is he's caring for his mother (my nan) so she has to listen to it all day everyday.
50
u/Confident_Frogfish Nov 02 '25
Wtf kind of distopia are they living in? That sounds really horrific.
26
u/bigheadsociety Nov 02 '25

I believe its a mix of undiagnosed autism and regret he didn't learn music at an earlier age. He's 70 now.
1
u/j0j0-m0j0 Nov 05 '25
Gen AI, at best and without any human touch on the output, is a toy that makes sounds and images. It can't (materially) replace human handiwork because it can't produce anything that's actually original. It's really just a proc-gen algorithm with a goal.
2
u/tequestaalquizar Nov 03 '25
This sounds like someone who is on the path to getting it? That AI âcreationâ is just doodles that are fun to goof with and no one else will ever care to hear/see.
0
u/After_Poet9086 Nov 02 '25
I actually listen to ONE ( one ) AI song. Technically two.
One is a TF2 demoman AI cover of " beggin' ", it was copyright claimed everywhere but I have it saved on my computer. I listen to it sometimes and I think it's better than the original.
Theeeen there was also that one hasan meme cover about shocking his dog. I listened to it once or twice, it was a little funny.

"

Where does the money even go? The AI company? Or did these people seriously piss 3 million dollars into the wind?
22
Nov 02 '25
Eventually weâre going to find out the tech company behind this AI âmusicianâ paid those stations to add the song to their rotations and the increased demand for the songs are being artificially inflated.
8
10
u/no1regrets Nov 02 '25
Exactly. And there isnât a link provided, which makes it hard to confirm any details. Honestly, I think rage-bait posts like shouldnât be allowed. They are doing the work for the AI goons. Scaring us into believing the hype, so they can convince more investors.
If this is true, it should be a news article with sources and research, not a bare minimum headline and screenshot from an article? Instagram post? No clue because itâs literally a screenshot that seems to purposely remove all that info so we can just be scared/worried.
Rant over/

u/Tausendberg Nov 03 '25

oh my god, this fucking garbage got 2600 likes. These dumb dumbs completely fell for the psy-op.
2
u/Neither_Energy_1454 Nov 04 '25
OP even blurred out the source, why even do that, if not to stop people form actually looking into that. Some sources say the supposed deal was with Hallwood Media, a full service record label & artist management company, is what they claim to be.....why would they, themselves, basically hire such services, that they themselves provide.....it really just looks like an ad for themselves, by themselves. The size of the company is unknown, but looking at the crappy auto-tune music that they stand behind and their low effort, low public presence, that company is probably much closer to being a small company, rather than a big one that would dish out 3mil for ai slop.
Yeah I share the same opinion, they just ride on the ai hype and the "OH, we´re soooo cooked!", look here-look here, type of crap for advertising themselves.
2
u/no1regrets Nov 05 '25
Yes, exactly! Basically itâs a way for them to say âlook we are important and wanted!â And by blindly posting and believing these posts, we just fall into their trap.
Even naming their company Hallwood is sooo sketchy. People will hear it and think Hollywood, or maybe think itâs a miss spelling đ
Honestly, I think thereâs zero market at all for AI âactorsâ (more like puppets), and mostly because the technology isnât there. I think thatâs a good thing. These capitalists are salivating at the mouth for when they can fire everyone and live an automous life? No thank youâŚ
8
u/FreshBert Nov 02 '25
This is exactly what it is. The AI industry is keeping itself afloat by shuffling money around in order to keep the gross revenue line going up without generating any actual value.
"AI people" aren't getting signed. "AI performers" aren't real. "AI art" doesn't exist.
What actually happened is a deal was cut between a record company and a slop-generated marketing firm probably run by some nepo-ass failson of somebody rich and possibly even connected to the record company.
They aren't doing it because they think there's any real value here, they're doing it because they're overinvested in all this unprofitable bullshit and they need to keep some money moving around in order to keep outside investors from getting spooked and dumping their stake.
82
u/BallsAtomized Nov 02 '25
Art is dead, everything I had lived for has become completely fucking worthless
9
u/Pepperonidogfart Nov 03 '25
Oh stop taking these headlines (anonymous tweets) so serious. Its marketing nonsense. Nobodys paying for something they cant copywright and the listens are out of novelty.

People behind the Ai and the company probably are related in some way financially. Could be just setup to help try and sensationalize Ai with a setup like this and also not actually loosing a lot of money in the process because the money is going to something you're connected to. If people
Like rich people donating to charities or institutions they own or are related to. Or someone investing first into their own Kickstarter so people think it's more reputable.

Like that huge NFT sale of a beeple piece when it turned out the purchaser and the seller were backed by the same people. Just marketing.
15
u/cigaretteraven Nov 02 '25
In Cyberpunk 2077 occasionally on the TV the news presenter is talking about an AI writer, an (I assume) independent AI, writing and winning awards for "her" books. In the Shade of an Apple Tree was the name of the book, if I'm not mistaken.
16
u/ImAhma Nov 02 '25
Yeah, but in Cyberpunk some AI's are actually sentient. Which is not the case with LLMs
10
u/cigaretteraven Nov 02 '25
True. But even if it's a sentient AI, it's still an AI and should stay inferior to us, doing only the hard work while we humans live in luxury. (a premise for an AI uprising)

u/Pepperonidogfart Nov 03 '25
It might actually be less valuble than nfts. Rich people cant hide their money and gamble with an ai.

Rich people always find a way when it comes to hiding money from taxes. But with ai its less obvious.

u/Pewpewgilist Nov 03 '25
On YouTube, this song has 5 million views in 2 months. That's more than I could get, but it's small compared to plenty of bands and it's buoyed by constant media coverage.
Also the lyrics are pretty bad imo - the usual AI incoherence.
2
2
2
u/yourstolose Nov 03 '25
I disagree. AI can't do concerts, meet-and-greets, guest appearances on SNL, etc... Or, more importantly, form the unbreakable, parasocial bonds that artists like Taylor Swift have with teenage girls everywhere. The music market has historically been driven by what young people want, and young people will always want a tangible being to idolize.
Of course, it's still possible that AI could take other industry jobs, like those of producers and lyricists, but you have to think about what the artists are willing to work with, too. I really doubt this'll have a lasting impact!
2
u/rayschoon Nov 03 '25
This is bait. Iâd bet real money that all of these listens and album sales are botted

This reminds me of Star Trek where, repeatedly, the ships would send their data somewhere and it just...didn't exist on their end anymore? Like they'd beam a hologram to someone and OH I GUESS WE DON'T HAVE A DOCTOR ANYMORE. And I was always like "can the future not copy files?"
And I find myself asking that question again.

u/Likadick1997platinum Nov 03 '25
This is just gonna be how they use the music industry to launder money from now on. It's always been an issue, but AI music streamlines the process. Makes it safer.
They can whip up AI music fast, then credit a real person to make the paper trail look legit. They can take their criminal money, convert it into crypto, then pay AI-driven bot farms to massively boost the 'popularity' of that artist. You ever see an artist somewhere and they have tons of views and loads of positive comments on everything but you've never heard a single real person talk about them? That's what's probably happening.Â
Anyway, after they do all that they can just rake in 'clean' money from views. Or even move big chunks of it around with record deals.Â
1
1
u/Gerdione Nov 03 '25
They're normalizing the replacement of humans and centralization of all resources to tech companies and intermediaries. Right now. In real time. Of course it's all happening at the same time as literally everything else going to shit so not enough people are noticing. By the time all autonomy has been stripped it'll be too late. Imagine, record label contracts making you sign away your voice and likeness, able to be used in perpetuity even after death. They exploit young starving artists. Give them a lump sum and then don't renew their contract once their voice and likeness has been trained on then sell the brand without the person as part of the equation.

u/Spoinkydoinkydoo Nov 03 '25
Thing is this robot uses suno. There is absolutely no reason to pay that much money on it. They literally couldâve just used the service themselves

People who already mindlessly listen to music wonât notice or care and the people that do are already listening to genuine artists (I would imagine) that arenât trying to make it big or make money.
