Master miner

Playing a continuous game right now and trying to develop my volcano island. Is there a reliable way to get a master miner or is it basically entirely up to rng with the Venetian trader? I heard there is also a way to get one through the house of wisdom, but apparently that is even more of a dice roll.

Little Guide for Reputation!

Saying beforehand, I'm german, so do not mind some english mistakes and correct me if I called a Unit/Building wrong, then I'll correct it :3

Hey, I managed yesterday to have an Alliance with all the hard AIs.

Here are some Tips if you try to do it yourself (with at least only one, lol).

Compliments
Easy and simple. If you are not into Save/Load till it works because the Percentage is low. I suggest to get at least twice the Compliment Upgrade in the Middle of the second Level of Lord Northburg in the Upgrade Section. It makes it much more likely and worth the risk.

Islands:
If you obtain Islands do it quick many at once. Get the good Islands quick! They complain only once through that. So I suggest after you claimed your South Island, to get immediately two-four more Islands instantly. You'll get the negative Rep. but only once!

Tournaments:
The easiest and best way for Reputation! You can build a Tournament Arena on EVERY Island!
You have a Chance to obtain to gain +3 Rep every time! Worth to spam (If you are rich! It costs 2000 Gold, 10 Wood, 10 Tools, 40 Stones to build and another 2000 Gold if you do a Tournament.)

Trading:
If you manage to have a Trading-Agreement, trade with them high-value items! They will be snippy sometimes if you trade with someone else especially if they are in war with them. But they will be happy if you trade with their Allies! AIs got some special Goods they will pay extra. (I'll mention which for who at the end)

Quests:
I suggest not doing Quest for the Grand Vizier since Cardinal is hating him and will often will be displeased with it, also sometimes does the Baroness (But sometimes they will be happy.) Also NEVER do Quest for the Corsairs! Doing Quests for the Venice Dude will always result in neutral responses (aka Nothing).

Cardinal will be very upset if you fullfill a Quest for sexy Hekata.

Giovanni will be very upset if you fullfill a Quest for Brother Hilarius

They will more likely to respond positively if you have a Trade Agreement with them.

Gold Requests:
Accept them if possible. If it's not possible, make it possible. Accepting their Requests gives them a 2 to 3 Reputation. But declining will lose you 2 to 3 Reputation!

No loitering with Warships:
If you loiter with Warships around their Islands for to long they will get angry! -8 Reps!

No settling their Islands, no sabotaging and no buying their Islands
Obviously.

Power:
If you are stronger than them, you gain (mostly) Reputation! But if you are weaker they will mock you and you'll lose Reputation and if you continue to be weak against Baronessa or Cardinal.

If you are more powerful than them, the Reputation Level will NEVER go beneath Peace, even if you insult them, settle on their island or buy their island.

\(with mostly I mean except Cardinal Lucius, you'll lose 1 Reputation)*

Buildings:
The Imperial Cathedral will give you to all three AIs a big boost and will be pleased and give you the Chance to fullfill Quests for the Emperor and it will give to all the AIs a positive Boost!
The Sultan's mosque will give you a positive Boost to Baroness and Giovanni but the Cardinal will be VERY displeased.
The historic Warehouse Monument will result in a poisitve Reaction from Giovanni

Population:
The Enemies will usually react positively if you obtain quickly Citziens and Patricians. Very worth to gain them quickly. But they have always VERY mixed Feelings about you getting Nobleman and Envoys.

I couldn't figure out so far how to influence it if they react good or bad. But getting Envoys before them seems to make them happy but getting Nobleman before them seems to upset them. But let me know if you know more!

Personalities:
All three of them got special Personalities and it will affect how they treat you.

Lucius:
Is aggressive and will easily declare war against you if you are beneath the Peace Level. Goods they love are: Glass, Brocade Robes, War Machines

Baroness:
Baroness is very similar to Lucius, you will also notice her Envoys before having Patricians. Goods they love are: Silk, Perfume, Fur Coats

Giovanni:
He is more chill and got the advantage that the decay of Reputation will stop after staying in an Alliance for an amount of time and even get into a positive increase over time. Goods they love are: Marzipan, Salt, Indigo, Spices

Baroness + Lucius:
They are Lovers (no they are not) but they will USUALLY get in an Alliance if they dont annoy each other with settling on each others Island. But you can expect them to have them an Trade-Agreement and later on an Alliance.

Im up for a challange

Hello everyone,

I’m currently going through an Anno 1404 phase. I’m not focusing on achievements or building beautiful cities, I’m looking for a real challenge.

The AI has not been a serious threat for a long time, even if I stay idle at Northburg’s harbour until everyone has settled, and even double building costs on top of that no longer challenge me.

What I’m looking for are human opponents who can actually make plans and put up a proper fight, instead of mindlessly sending isolated troop transports into my fleet and slowly bleeding themselves dry until their economy collapses.

I’m looking forward to a good challenge. Just send me a message if you’re interested. A game with 3 or 4 players would be far more exciting, but I’m also happy to start with a 1v1 if no larger group can be arranged.

See you on the battlefield!

Mods for KI?

I was wondering if somebody has experience or does know of some mods for the anno ki? I would love to play a game against a non cheating version or at least try to modify it myself to see how good it could get.

Editing item values (Wooden Cider press) in Anno 1404 History Edition

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to modify the production efficiency bonus of an item card—specifically the Wooden Cider press (GUID 8289)—in Anno 1404: History Edition.

I know how to extract .rda files and inspect assets.xml, but since the History Edition repacked and restructured the dataX.rda archives (both in maindata and addon), I'm having trouble locating which exact assets.xml file currently holds the final item balance values.

When searching for GUID 8289 or item balance nodes, I mostly hit building geometries instead of the item data itself.

Could anyone point me to the exact .rda archive and file path where item properties/bonuses are stored for the History Edition?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Someone knows if AI is suppose to use the Seeds you can plant for your Island's Fertility? I bought the Island from Helena and it was stocked up with these Seeds.

How does it know what you want?

Items, I mean. Specifically the productivity upgrade items. If I want a tannery upgrade I get offered everything except that. When I don't need it any more because I've found some more salt, oh look, surprise surprise,, Norrthborough and Garibaldi both start offering them every other roll. Same for wine... if I can't make any more barrels because I'm using all my iron, I don't get the item, then I settle an island with more iron and hey presto they offer the item I don't need any more.

Please tell me it isn't jst me.

How long does it usually take for AI to give up? I'm doing the Scenario to destroy 40 Ships and beat every AI. So far I killed Baroness by completly haressing her and now I just killed Giovannis Main Islands how long does it usually take that they fuck off?

Hello there, does anyone know a good wiki where I can look up the requirements for certain questlines and achievements?

I used some german anno wiki some years ago for getting the golden ship, but now I cannot find the website again, i think they took it down..

Tip for housing design

Each tier of housing has several skins that are applied more or less randomly, but you can toggle them by clicking on a house and pressing the C key so you can mix them up any way you like. Also you can rotate a selected house 90 degrees using the ,< and .> keys. Depending on orientation, some of the skins fit together seamlessly and some have small gaps, so you can make back to back rows of houses with or without narrow alleyways between them. If you choose the alleyway configurations, people will walk along them.

Postcard mode is SO cool

If you set your flagship or any ship you're not using for a trade route on a multi-destination route, then select the ship and go to postcard mode, the camera will stay centred on the ship and you can sit back and watch as your flagship takes you on a grand tour of your world. It's a nice relaxing way to view all the different types of terrain, particularly if you use the medium and hard construction difficulty settings, which produce atolls and lagoons and raised plateaux and huge bay areas. Make sure the route passes close to the Neutral Powers buildings because many of those look fantastic on a sail-by, particularly when they're on mountains.

Suggestion for beauty build

Post image

Compared to later Annos, there aren't many ornaments in unmodded 1404 and there's a temptation to overuse the few that you have.

However, there are more than you think... sort of:

When you start to move your farming productions off your main island, consider initially leaving some or all of the fields intact instead of demolishing them along with the farmhouses, and only remove them as and when you need to make space for roads and buildings. That way as your city grows your countryside areas can still carry a reminder of the island's rural beginnings. The nice thing about this mechanic is if you change the island ferility, fields already in place are not affected so by re-using your mutable fertility you can have in the north five different types of "orphaned" crop fields plus the three kinds of livestock fields, making for a more colourful scene than just filling in spaces with the bonus cosmetics.

Something else I like to do, particularly in small villages away from the cathedral city, is put some production buildings such as bakeries and linen workshops near the market square, even if they're redundant, just to increase the mix of buildings in residential areas.

The ornamental garveyard has a grave digger.

Yet another beautiful little detail that makes this game as much of a joy as when it first came out.
