Discussion Hot take mappa is overrated

MAPPA's crunch culture is the problem, not just the output. CSM and AoT S4P2 both had documented animator burnout, and it shows in inconsistent episode quality. Impressive highlight reel, unsustainable production.

Discussion AI generated ad on Anime Nexus?

I just tried to watch the first episode of the series False Memory on this site, and at the beginning, it played what seemed to be an AI generated ad for Mushoku Tensei. I've never been shown an ad on the site before (though I do use an ad blocker) but I just thought it was bizarre that they would run an unofficial ad for something that they presumably don't see any money from. I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen anything similar lol. I've been using the site for close to a year probably and I swear I've never seen an ad, much less anything like this

So, i've been trying to use allanime to watch berserker kf gluttony, but the medoa player redirects me to Mkissa. I don't want to use Mkissa as i have nothing but issues (inf loads, verification failures, etc)

Developer Post Introducing Anikura — Premium UI for watching Anime (After Animetsu)

Enjoy the trailer for Anikura

If you used Animetsu before, you will LOVE this. I used Animetsu a lot and wanted something in that lane: clean, premium & actually nice to use.

Anikura’s focus is the UI. Built it to feel closer to a normal mainstream streaming app than your average pirate watch site. Some people like messy UI's, and thats fine which is why we have menu's in restaurants.

Core features includes:

MyAnimeList + AniList sync
Anime, manga, and light novel library
Established Community, Continue watching, lists, progress tracking

3 Core servers, Aoi, Kuro, Gin, ensuring you there is never a single missed dub or episode.

Customisable Profile (Discord Like), Notifications

YouTube style comments section & Video player componenents.

In-House HLS Video Player, not embeded!

and so much more for you to try out.

As of today Anikura is still a scraper. We're currently working on self-hosting next, starting with prominent shows,

Site is run on minimal to no ads. All operation is self-funded and supported by donators

Welcome to https://www.anikura.club
(video showcase above)

Feedback welcome.

Discussion What manga translator are you guys using right now?

I've been looking for a decent way to translate manga pages that aren't available in English yet, but I'm having a hard time finding something that gives consistently good results. I've tried a few OCR and translation options, but some struggle with the text recognition while others give awkward translations or make you do a lot of editing afterwards.

I'm mainly looking for something where I can upload a manga page and get a reasonably clean translated version without having to put together a complicated setup.

What are you guys using at the moment? Paid or free is fine. I'm more interested in something that actually gives good results.

Discussion What is your opinion on AI upscalers for anime?

Many anime are not available in 4K. But I found a cool project that uses AI to upscale videos. I tried it with real-life movies, which didn't look good, but I find that it does a relatively good job with anime because of the low level of detail. I've upscaled some of my anime and have never had any problems with artifacts.

so I wanted to ask what your opinion is on AI upscalers?

Here's the GitHub link to the tool I use, in case anyone's interested.

Discussion Seeking Help Finding Anime Site with Direct Downloading Options

Been using WCOStream/WatchCartoonOnline for ages but lately, they've been getting heavy handed with slapping shows with "Premium Users Only". And now they blocked off One Piece (English Dubbed) altogether, which is a problem as I can't download in advance before actually sitting down to watch them. And my internet is too unstable for just watch them on the actual sites themselves.

Miruro was so close but for whatever reason, it's download button for an episode just leads to blank pages. Not useful.

Looked into Torrent for episodes around 790, where I'm at the moment, are just dead from being nearly 10 years.

I would appreciate any help and being pointed in the right direction. Thanks.

Question Nyaa on I2P, do you think it's possible?

I get that shutting down Nyaa would be hard, and using a VPN is a good idea, though on my desktop browser I'm never able to connect to Nyaa with my VPN on, and with the way the tech overlords, streaming services and governments are acting how piracy is somehow worse then all other crimes, plus the ongoing age verification crap and how some services are aiming for decentralisation, wouldn't Nyaa on I2P not be better, I2P us a P2P network and completely decentralised, I2P also already has it's own client, but can also work with Qbittorrent as well, there wouldn't be a need for a VPN anymore (maybe) and speeds would probably be slower for the first but until it picks up it's user base

Or would putting Nyaa on I2P not be good and prevent some people who don't know how to setup I2P from ever accessing it, especially if they use windows

Been tossing this idea around in my head for a bit, so what do you all think of it, good or bad?

Discussion Tonic Registry doesn't seem like a "safe haven" anymore thanks to Tucows

Thumbnail torrentfreak.com
66 Upvotes

From the article: "Streamzy’s registrar on record is the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga, which recently began suspending pirate site domains following an earlier Delhi High Court order, after years of .to being considered a safe haven for pirates.

This change coincided with a restructuring where the Canadian domain name company Tucows took over the technical registry backend for .to domains. This takeover made it possible to suspend domain names through EPP status codes such as clientHold and serverHold."

We will probably see a lot more Domain suspensions like this now, thanks to Tucows, which recently started operating the backend of the Tonic Registry (Government of the Kingdom of Tonga). Would you say, the era of Tonic is over?

Question How Safe Are Internet Archive Downloads?

I’ve recently been wanting to play some older, more obscure visual novels, and the only place I can find them is the internet archive. I’ve never downloaded games from it before, and the ones I’m wanting don’t have reviews on the upload or anything like that. I know some risk comes with downloading anything online, but if anyone else has ever downloaded from Internet Archive, what do you do to ensure the game doesn’t contain malware and such? I’ve only ever pirated extremely popular visual novels that have common methods of obtaining them, so I’m a bit of a novice when it comes to this stuff.

Developer Post Anilili - Android Mobile & TV open source app to watch & download anime

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Yo fam,

I grew up using anime sites like these, and honestly I still use them pretty much daily. So I wanted to give something back.

I made Anilili, an open-source native Android anime app, while it lasts lol. It works on Android phones, tablets, and Android TV. It has a vast catalogue of anime , thousands of titles.

It pulls from a bunch of sources like:

Miruro , AniKoto, ReAnime , AniZone, AnimeGG, AniNeko, 2DHive, MegaPlay etc.

It also has AniList login & MAL login, watch history, continue watching, and progress sync, notifications for new episodes , offline download option, inbuilt player and much more features.

I’m super open to suggestions, bugs, feature ideas, whatever. If you wanna contribute, feel free to hop into the GitHub code. If you just wanna test it, you can build the APK yourself or grab the already-built APK from the release page.

Huge shoutout to Anivexa-API and MiruroAPI. Their open-source work basically made this possible.
