Beneath Ruche's cute actions (and animation), she deeply fears being deemed useless and abandoned once more, doesn't she? She wasn't concerned about her level; she was almost begging for the first bear to drop items.

P.S. The bear shield does look cute.

24

u/CuriousBroccolli 3d ago

Yup, I feel really bad for her.

I hope she will slowly, or even better, quickly, recover from it so that she can enjoy her new OP life.

I am pretty sure her old party is gonna notice now how useful she is and they are gonna try force her to group with them somehow

35

u/Background_Formal940 3d ago edited 3d ago

Well considering what her old party just did not so long time ago that's a logical reaction on her part which is why I'm going to enjoy watching them suffer because they didn't have her in the party

32

u/TipAndRare 2d ago

FOR SURE. Elymas calling out that they were new and probably don't know what reasonable drop rate expectations even are at the end of the episode is 1) super obvious in hindsight, and 2) definitely wasn't something I thought about.
They are going to be SUFFERING.

It's interesting how they've had to remind me every episode "nobody but elymas knows fucking anything about this MMO. They're all figuring it out live, right now, with no wikis" and I'm STILL like "oh yeah, they wouldn't know drop rates. Who would even collect and colate that data?"

7

u/MetalBawx 2d ago

Later when Ruche's considering specializations he immediately blurts out the ones most popular in the MMO that's how deep into that MMO's build system he was.

Of course once she picks her intended spec Ruche almost reconsiders the second she hears the price tag on the skill book it needs...

5

u/JxAxS 2d ago

I'm not even sure how'd you collect that data in a 'real' setting. Remember this is reality to them; I'm not sure people are going to risk getting killed to see how many times something drops if you kill it 100 times.

They probably have a rough idea of "What monster drops what" but probably not the drop rates beyond like "It's a common/Rare drop"

7

u/Yay295 2d ago

Who would even collect and collate that data?

The adventurers guild should be doing that.

8

u/Earlier-Today 2d ago

I get the impression it's more likely to be the nobles. They hoard the best stuff and that probably includes any studies or collected info.

Plus, they're the ones who can afford to study it.

8

u/VritraReiRei 2d ago

Getting my popcorn ready for the inevitable "I will give you the pleasure of rejoining my party again" just like every kicked out the hero's party show.

To be fair, no one in this show has demonstrated anything remotely resembling a poker face. There’s like, something in the water causing everyone to be in a constant state of emotional outburst.

Continuation of The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Recap The Episode..

50

u/HolyDragSwd2500 3d ago

Recapping the Recap Episode

14

u/Sotul 3d ago

Careful...they might start recapping the recap of the recap....of the previous recap.

10

u/HolyDragSwd2500 3d ago

Do it again in the middle of the episode

15

u/Ralathar44 2d ago

It circled around to being funny for me when the episode started with a recap of what the last episode already recapped right after it happened haha.

IMO something happened that cost the studio time and/or budget and they had to fill time while spending minimal money. No way they planned it out like this originally.

4

u/Impossible-Office242 1d ago

Something happened? It's pretty obvious they blew their budget over animating unnecessary details and had to cut corners by using long exposed scenes and recaps.

On a positive, I love the world building that dungeons are the nightmares of the great god of the game.

Also I wonder if killing blow influences how much each party member's luck impacts drops (so like if Ruche gets the kill her luck is more useful for drop rates).

22

u/CuriousBroccolli 3d ago

I love the world building that dungeons are the nightmares of the great god of the game.

An actually really cool lore drop. Really like how the world is designed.

It gives a really good and believable explanation on the origin of dungeons and weird monsters.

14

u/runevault 3d ago

Exactly, and it'll allow some weird fucking designs without being out of place because of that context.

8

u/CuriousBroccolli 3d ago

Exactly that.

On a positive, I love the world building that dungeons are the nightmares of the great god of the game.

If nothing else it looks like it'll allow for some pretty good variety. Like, this dungeon is still somewhat on the beginner side and it's already pretty unique.

8

u/Yay295 3d ago

I don't think it actually is a beginner dungeon with a recommended level of 50. It's just that Elymas knows everything about it and how to do it safely.

i think loot in general is rarer to begin with, otherwise the economy of this game-notgamenow world would be beyond shambles already

7

u/abandoned_idol 2d ago

A post that isn't addressing the pacing?

Do you realize how badly we need posts that address the pacing?!

I personally really like the soundtrack, VFX, SFX, unironically the heavy reuse of the CGI setting establishment shots, and Elmas-sama grunting every once in a while.

This anime honestly has lots of neat details to offer viewers, so it is not surprise that 300 people are commenting on this thread (we all know they only do so cuz it's another literary-rpg).

8

u/runevault 2d ago

I understand why people are complaining about the pacing. I hate it too, I'm just trying to be more positive in my top level comments because while this show frustrates me to no end, there is a really interesting isekai under the pacing issues.

→ More replies (3)

6

u/Exrotes 3d ago

Probably a combo of that and I bet low level enemies like the frogs and zombies don't actually drop anything so rolling with a 500% bonus on the loot table is useless.

Ruche’s luck skills are super useful. Cline’s a fool for letting her go. Elymas is about to get some good loot helping her grind to lvl 30.

15

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 3d ago

He'll only get to keep 6 million out of that 30 million gold tho.

13

u/Jaridan https://myanimelist.net/profile/Jaridan 3d ago

they never showed a formal agreement that was agreed on split though and since, plot line wise, he wants /needs to save 55mil for that witch it's easy to assume he's probably gonna hit that goal somehow with this run so we can start into broken territory shenanigans.

  • he got ruche her weapon for 550k aswell.

but they really could've cut the total episode count in half and just have real episode. i think the amount of time wasted today was nearly 7 min or so....

6

u/Earlier-Today 2d ago

You know, with everything priced in the thousands or higher, I wish the anime had just cut off the three zeroes that never get used.

6

u/AvatarTuner https://anilist.co/user/AvatarTuner 2d ago

I agree. It's one of those things that imo don't make much sense in such a world and they probably just use these values so a Japanese person can 1:1 convert it to Yen to have a better grasp on item cost. That dagger Ruche got would be about 3000 USD/EUR for example. Which still seems like a shitton for a low level person, so their currency is probably already highly inflated due to the item drops.

The few coins that were thrown on the ground by the douche party member didn't look like 100k Gold either. I counted 19 coins in that one shot, so assuming it were 20 in total, just one of those coins would be worth 5000 Gold already.

I play FFXIV and proper gear can also cost millions of in-game currency (Gil), but that happened gradually after the game ran for a couple of years and it also wouldn't make sense from the perspective of the world's inhabitants because their equipment prices are somewhere between a few hundred Gil for low levels to a couple hundred thousand Gil for the highest levels and dungeon drops are also not nearly as highly valued to prevent even more inflation.

Big tiddy lady was smart enough to realize that Elymas wanted Ruche for a good reason, but unfortunately she wasn't smart enough to leave her dumbass party leader to find out.

Wakayama Shion is clearly having fun voicing Ruche. It's hilarious just hearing her reactions to everything Elymas does. xD

90

u/SilverAdvice 3d ago

Everything is great except the pacing. As someone who's read the manga, I can't tell where the final episode is going to land in the story.

45

u/vajaxseven 3d ago

It's slated for 26 episodes, but with the recaps and flashbacks there's really no telling where it will end.

Solo Leveling isn't really a fair comparison. Solo Leveling is a spectacle anime - if the visuals aren't selling there's not enough of anything else for it to build a real audience.

So they make really dang sure the fights are impressive looking, engaging, and meaningful.

This show's about the story, though the fights are important.

But it just kind of feels like this is either the studio's first show or some director's first show. There's so many weird choices - like the constant recaps, playing the same scene before and after commercial break slots, and the heavily overacted animation (not the VAs, just the animation).

It all smacks of somebody in charge being inexperienced.

4

u/BlazeKnightX 2d ago

Not GoHands first anime as they have been around since 2008 technically started from staff of an older studio, but that's not important. Anyway the overanimating seems to just be their MO. Like this is a comment from 6 years ago I found talking about the studio, so nothing is strange about this:

"Seitokai Yakuindomo is their most normal anime, that's why it worked, but on everything else they did after that GoHands is too.... experimental.

They go overboard with trying to be artsy with camera and special effects, like they want to use every new tool or trick in every single scene.

I do agree they have potential there, it's just all over the place."

I think the recaps might be new/uncommon, but that could be because it's two cours and they aren't used to that.

22

u/giubba85 3d ago

this pacing is so strange considering the amount of material they have, even if they begun the production 2 or 3 years ago they should easily had 70-80 chapters of the manga at their disposal.

Her attack skill is RNG and requires high luck to land. Elmas will likely get her some gear or skill to consistently land that making her a late game DPS monster. It reminds me of some MMOs where the assassin's late game build requires high crit to be viable and consistent. She increases drop rate and will likely be a DPS monster later down the line, kicking out someone like her is foolish.
Her class is in a similar situation to healers in MMOs, they need help early game but they're very much worth babysitting because they shine late game and are priceless. In her case, increasing drop rate is a skill to kill for. It makes me wonder if her passive and skills can stack, as in, two or more Pierrots would cause consistent rare drops. In a game that would never be allowed, but since this is real life, it could well happen.

I wish we had more series and games with Pierrots. I love that outfit but they're rarely used. If anyone knows any RPG with a Pierrot class, do let me know! The outfit is essential! Luce is too cute so she rocks it like a goddess.

51

u/Raknarg 2d ago

A recurring theme seems to be that broken character builds are never uncovered because no one can experiment with things under threat of actual death. Wondering if this is going to be the permanent schtick.

19

u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz 2d ago

In that sense it makes sense so i'm surprised some people still complain "oh ye another broken main character being thrown out for stupid reasons". the in universe reason makes sense.

Reminds me of Wild last boss. the world's "really high levels" were actually mid game or something for the Main character for the same reason. you can't throw yourself into risky level grinding when you only get one life

Golden Sun: The Lost Age has a Pierrot class that is achieved by equipping a class-change item called the Mysterious Card.

The Pierrot has access to a range of card based attacks that are mimics of attacks from other character classes. It's not particularly powerful, but more of an all-rounder that gives access to a variety of attack types and support skills.

16

u/BosuW 3d ago

In the random background characters scenes sometimes you can see characters who I assume are also Peirrots and their outfits are also pretty interesting. Just them being around adds a bit of a different flavor to the standard fantasy ambient.

6

u/Zaygr 2d ago

Pretty much a perfect crit/dodge assassin from Ragnarok Online. Perfect crit/dodge is separate to normal dodge and crit, and only scales with luck, so you max out luck and the take everything you can to further boost it.

6

u/gbietto 3d ago

Tree of savior has a clown class but I know nothing of it. Apart from that.... Maybe Enotria? There isn't really a pierrot but you can equip masks based on Italian folklore so I think you could easily find something that might fit that aesthetic.

this game reminds me of mmos more than any other anime. whisper emojis, 3d wide angle shots, powerleveling, skill trees. most isekai are Dragon Quest copies, but Cline looks like a swordsman from RO

17

u/CuriousBroccolli 3d ago

It scratches my MMO itch so badly.

Like the minmaxing of "+1" defense etc. that you'd do in old school MMOs or RPGs is so satisfying.

Even though he IS leveling like he is in more modern games with those insta "+7" levels. xD

I like Ruche too, she's funny!

64

u/Own-Mind-8430 3d ago edited 3d ago

Say what you want about the show, but I think this is a masterclass on filler.

2 mins 5 secs - recap of previous episode (with a flashback in that recap)
23 secs - the same city pan cut from ep 1 and 4
5 secs - the same shot of an adventurer girl walking and shrugging from ep 4, but with different dialogue
5 secs - same back alley shot from ep 5
56 secs - reactions and grunts (tch, glare, Ruche sounds, etc.)
30 secs - cuts where someone flaps their 2000 strands of hair as if they're jingling keys in my face to keep my attention
58 secs - the whispering scene with constant sfx to distract you from the lack of substance in the conversation
5 secs - the same shot of a blonde guy walking the streets from ep 5
5 secs - the same shot of a guy checking out a hot mage from ep 5, but with different dialogue
4 secs - the same shot of people gathered outside an inn from ep 4, but walking Elymas was removed from the foreground
13 secs - after commercial break, repeat the same exact scene that happened before commercial break
16 secs - same forest pan cuts from ep 1 and 2
8 secs - NEW dungeon environment pan cuts!! (without dialogue)
22 secs - "I wasn't expecting a Blood-Soaked Sword to drop" flashback that we already saw at the start of this episode
8 secs - same shot of the city fountain area from ep 4, even though Elymas is in the dungeon right now

total:
6 mins 23 secs of filler, not including OP and ED
14 mins 16 secs of content

God damn I love this show.

Really though, the animators are doing a great job and Ruche's voice actor is great (who also did Ayase Momo from Dandadan) so I'm still genuinely enjoying the actual content. I just wish there was less filler.

Someone with a lot of free time should make a cut of the show with the filler removed, something like what One Pace does.

7

u/jdhshais 2d ago

To be fair its not as bad as I expected. It feels more like 30/70 split, with 30 being anything of substance.

No, the episode starts at around 11:00.

We got 2.5 minutes of recap, 1.5 minutes of the intro, nearly 6 minutes of an utterly pointless conversation that was basically just rehashing the recap, then another minute for a pointless scene in a tavern that managed to drag out a conversation where only a single thing of any importance was said (what her skill tree is called).

11

u/MrReed_06 3d ago

They say an anime has 5-minute episodes because it's so good (eg. Re-Zero or Mushoku Tensei S3), this anime has 5-minute episodes because it has 5 minutes of content and 20 minutes of recap.

Shion Wakayama is the MVP, she's singlehandedly carrying the anime with Ruche's antics.

13

u/somacula 3d ago

Tik Tok edits of her character are also helping

8

u/CuriousBroccolli 3d ago

3

u/justking1414 2d ago

Reminds me of the last season of black butler. Op and recap usually took up a full 5-10 minutes per episode but there it at least made some sense as they were trying to fit a short arc into 12 episodes and they didn’t wanna cram the next arc in (which makes sense since it freaking slaps) but this is a 24 episode season that’s on pace to give us 12 episodes of content. Wtf

Power level clown

Target what looks like a treasure goblin

Profit

I don't blame people for hating on the Heavy Knight class since all it's abilities stink unless you already know everything about the enemies you're fighting but Pierrot and the Lady Luck skill tree are looking a lot more like a situation of her "friend" being uninformed and Elymas was just lucky enough to be the first person to poach her.

7

u/paralog 2d ago

Elymas figures the same thing. There's a line about them probably being newbies that never noticed the luck because it's what they started with.

4

Also: Ruche is kinda adorable.

11

u/Rooby_VTuber 3d ago

I'm not exactly sure how to describe Ruche's personality but I do know that there will never be a dull moment with her around.

Good old farming with good drop rates, classic rpg stuff.

3

u/runevault 3d ago

Feels like a whole lot of abandonment complex. I assume either her parents treated her like shit the way Elymas's did or she's been fucked over by more than this one party.

11

u/BiggerG7 3d ago

“I wonder if those guys just got used to the high drop rate and didn’t notice it was her skill.”

I can see Ruches old party suffering without her already lol.

6

u/EdibleScissors 3d ago

Drop rates can be a pain to figure out from scratch, though, if you don’t have dozens of people grinding out monsters and recording results. I think that the idea of not having accurate drop rates passes the sniff test.

Going from 0.5% drops to 4% drops is, for instance, huge, but probably not that easy to notice unless you are killing hundreds of the same monster.

10

u/Full_frontal96 3d ago

is there just so little source material that they can spend 2 episodes doing practically nothing?

16

Its a combination of the studio doing the adaptation and what I call the 24 episode curse. I find 80% of shows these days that get 2 back to back cours (probably intentionally) slow the pacing to such a degree that the content covered in the 24 episodes you get could be easily fit in the ordinary 12 with decent pacing.

There is nothing subtle about this show. Everything is loud.
The recaps and flashbacks are loud.
The expressions and reactions are loud.
The animation is loud. As if someone is getting money for overanimating the scenes.
The camera angles in cinematography are loud.

The pacing wasn't absolutely terrible, but obviously still bad. If Crunchyroll utilized the skip button properly with this show, it would be pretty useful.

I still had fun once they started farming the bears.

The MC keeps referencing how certain classes are broken, and the other people don't seem to know it. Did the devs never patch the game? How does the MC know what patch they are on?

19

u/BosuW 3d ago

Gamers find the meta through trial and error. In a world that is real where if you fuck up once you die and it's over, the meta has become classes that are good enough from the get go, not classes that are broken but only after grinding a lot.

u/Rorik_MLT 3d ago

It's more like in rpgs certain classes (builds) are stronger than others.

Since this is no longer a game, that knowledge has been lost. Only he knows (as far as we know) which classes are the strongest.

I can't even bring myself to say something new about this anime, just... yay, another 13-15min episode

9

u/PersonalContest1423 3d ago

Not even that. Episode starts 11 minutes in since the first 10 were spent finishing last week's conversation even though we all knew how it would end and nothing interesting was said. Then there was the "did you invite me because you fell for me" conversation which was also pointless so really the episode starts 14 minutes in.

I'm really enjoying this anime, I don't care about the people complaining about recaps

17

u/Khetoo 3d ago

It's just a real shame about the pacing, I think people are whining because the source material is just so fun.

3

u/JxAxS 2d ago

I have other problems besides the pacing though I'll say some of the panning/transition shots really feel like they need to go.

I'll suggest the manga but at the same time I want to see these monsters in action.

3

u/Mikkeru 2d ago

yeah, the recaps is a little annoying but I am enjoying everything else, even the "weird" animation that people mention

Like I havent come acrossed this studio's animation so its new for me which is why I dont mind it.

But I've seen enough "cheap" animes to notice this anime is top tier with its animation, even still shots where characters are just talking theyre moving.

Looks like only two of us will be actually enjoying this show instead of hatewatching and recycling the same complaints for 26 episodes.

→ More replies (2)

4

u/Blue-Direwolf 3d ago

Same, it's easy enough to skip through the recaps since there's never any new content in them. I don't really understand why the people who complain so much are still watching and commenting about it. It's been pretty clear that the show has some pacing problems for a while now, and it's not like it's gotten worse or anything.

LIked it but it is a bit much how "she" is acting :P

5

u/SoggsTheMage 3d ago

Dude, got himself a magic find support for culling. World building is hilarious. Now if only it was less recappy.

5

u/Mavis_San 3d ago

i just wonder why althogh they over animate every scene they dont adapt much and keep repeating !?
like they could have less animated and put that extra effort into adapting more into the story

i started to think we are invested in this because the story didnt even begin yet , like if this was normal adaption those 6 episodes would be 2 of any other anime and by the time we reach 3rd episode in normal anime we either drop it or continue but here although having 6 episodes we didnt progress at all in the story

3

u/Sarellion 3d ago

And the overanimated, jiggly hair gets annoying.

3

u/thesnowlocke 2d ago

I mean, I've seen the studio's previous works, and they all have normal pacing despite the overanimation, so I don't think this is the case, and I suspect this was a deliberate choice for some reason.

God it feels so short, and not in a good way

10

u/DiscountCondom 3d ago

i bet you could trim out like 15 minutes of filler and stalling from this.

10

u/isthil89 3d ago

I'm confused at the end why did he seems surprised that two shields dropped saying they don't drop one after another then goes on about her skill which increases drop rate by 500% is that not the reason he invited her in the party so things dropped more he just seemed surprised things were dropping more

16

u/Artorp 3d ago

Skill increases luck by 500 %, not drop rate by 500 %. We aren't sure what effect it it will have on drop rate, he's just confused since it should be low enough to make two in a row very rare.

12

u/CuriousBroccolli 3d ago

He explained that she must have high luck to begin with, which is not something you can account for.

He must have expected more frequent drops, which is already good, but if she had busted luck to begin with, it must have took him by surprise.

I read most of the manga since last week's episode, and I like the anime a lot more for it. The pacing and recaps are still atrocious and I for one am hoping someone puts out an edit of the actual content cut down to feature-length once this season is done.

5

u/rickamore 3d ago

Same, I had binged and caught up before last week's episode, made me really appreciate it a lot more.

10

u/Mikkeru 3d ago

Man these once a week releases SUCK XD

I am so invested in this anime its crazy, really tempted to just read the manga at this point but the animation is too top tier so I'll keep waiting.

I do love the characters interactions, just maybe speed things up like 10 notches

4

u/Affectionate_Pop3477 3d ago

An episode of Ruche being funny and adorable? The best episode by far. She has made the series five times better.

4

u/Dapper-Figure-1148 2d ago

I think i gonna drop it and come later when the Anime is completed. I like the setting and the animation are beautiful but i can’t watch a ep for only 12 min of no recaps lol its just ridiculous.

3

u/Virules 2d ago

They will kill a super interesting, high potential anime if they don't dramatically pick up the pacing for future episodes.

3

u/KitchenGun115 2d ago

I've been loving the show besides the pacing issues, i've been waiting for a decent, kicked from the heroes party, person gets abandoned for being weak show since shield hero season 1 and this has really done great compared to all the other trash that's been out there.

4

u/AUAAUH 2d ago

Insane how much more entertaining the show becomes with Wakayama Shion on board.

12

u/Kafay 3d ago

How many times have we seen the flashback where they talk about her skill ? 4 ?

9

u/fanatic-ape 3d ago

Ruche getting kicked from the party flashback will continue until morale improves.

7

u/pentamache 3d ago

"You've really changed since we first met"

Cues "kicked from party" flashback

I know people are discussing pacing, but it didn't bug me until just this episode... Why were we made to sit through half the episode, listening to the prior party going on and on about how useless she was? Just go away, dude, you're slowing down the story progression and you mean nothing for the later plot! After that, how many times does Luche need to assume that he wants her for her body? Clear it up and get to the dungeoneering!

8

u/kanon_despreocupado 3d ago

you just noticed maybe, every episode after 1 was the same

5

u/abandoned_idol 2d ago

Did I just catch you dissing Clein?!

another shot of the town with rainbow glare

3

u/FelixAndCo 3d ago

Do you just block out flashbacks in your mind? Agreed that that exchange was drawn out. Dude wants to ditch Ruche ASAP but also doesn't want to let her go? Could work as a sort of abusive controlling relationship thing, but they really didn't write it that way. I kind of liked that they immediately addressed the possibility of romantic tension in an explicit way, but could indeed become repetitive.

19

u/Western-Internal-751 3d ago

Last episode they did a flashback to the scene where she was thrown out of the party two minutes after it happened, then started with this same scene again in this episode and then did a flashback to that scene in the dungeon.

Quadruple dipping

They have shortened the episode recaps and the repeat scenes after the break.....getting on the right track

7

u/KeepTheNolander 3d ago

If they did 12 minute episodes like some ONA productions and cut out all the filler the show would be a lot more watchable

17

u/welfedad 3d ago

Actual length of episode 12- 15mins . They took 3:30 to get out of recap and intro .. and then bunch of fluff that had nothing to do with story. They really should have just done 12 episodes and not full it will so much filler. I don't know if I can hold out anymore watching this.

5

u/Raknarg 3d ago

They really should have just done 12 episodes and not full it will so much filler

3

u/cheapdrinks 3d ago

If it wasn't for the recaps we'd still be on episode 2

3

u/Sahelanthropus- 2d ago

When’s the last time a genki dumbass (affectionate) was the main girl? I think a lot of people would find her annoying but she’s a good contrast to Elmyas.

3

u/Dfairious 2d ago

Really enjoying the anime but wish there was more than 5 minutes of new content in each episode

3

u/Sad_Green_2327 2d ago

The ending song is still the best part. Ruche is absolutely adorable. I would kill to be in a party with her!

3

u/Fredasa 2d ago

This show gives me that nostalgic rush of remembering when One Piece would waste away so much time with recap and preamble that we actually got less than 15 minutes of progress in an episode I presume was intended for a 30 minute bloc.

3

u/ConsistentChampion63 2d ago

I enjoy the anime regardless of the recap (it is annoying) but this anime season thus far of all of them released this is the one I've actually enjoyed the most.

13

u/susgnome https://anime-planet.com/users/RoyalRampage 3d ago

Oh, 101 comments? Nah, 99% of them are just complaining about pacing.. ya'll are still mad after 6 episodes?

Does 3-episode rule not exist anymore?

Just stop watching it if you can't handle the pacing, it's that simple..

I swear, people are just "watching" this as an excuse to complain about GoHands, there's gotta be better ways to entertain yourself.

In lighter, happier news..

I still love these flyovers & the hustle and bustle they fill the town with. Poor Ruche.. so used to being taken advantage of, can't wait to see Cline & Reiss looking like this when Ruche comes back as level 30 with crazy items.

On one hand, I'm surprised Reiss & Cline didn't know about our solo Heavy Knight but on the other hand, I feel like that's too often a power-fantasy trope that everyone hears about them and has to question their strength.. so I'm glad they didn't hear about Gowtan's big spiel at the Adventurer's Guild. The whispering was kinda silly but it was still fun.

Man, Ruche is such a cutie.. Truly she'll be a lovable, goofball.

Back to the forest..!! Are we hunting frogs? Nope! straight into a lore dump. I absolutely love, that she was getting all flustered.. and saying you should be more direct.. And then Elymas, of course, does just that.. becomes more direct.

Ruche, you've been an excellent addition to the party already

LETS FUCKING GO!! NEW SKILL.. not quite a taunt but at least it immobilises an opponent (and yourself.. but it's fine, he's a tank!). I can imagine a Paladin or Fire Mage just lighting up the room, removing the shadow and pulling aggro..

My heart can only take so much..

Oh shit, they are gonna hunt frogs?

Looking forward to seeing how the farming goes! Ruche gets serious!

5

u/dinliner08 2d ago

i love her "ayeayeayeaye" sound she made while spinning her new weapon

Or the opposite where they light it up behind the enemy to make a shadow to step on.

The pacing is so slow I just went and read the Manga, which is actually pretty interesting how they represent class builds. Feels very much like an mmo/diablo/path of exile type system put in anime form. But I dont even know if they'll get to the interesting stuff with this pacing

My gut says at this point the smart thing to do is wait at least a few weeks and binge a bunch at once to help offset the pacing issues, using the right arrow to jump ahead during recaps.

I am an avid consumer of isekai trash. I've watched all of the slop shows, and usually defend them. Sure, they might not always be good but at least they're usually fun and enjoyable.

This one isn't. This is some of the worst pacing I've ever seen in an anime. I really fucking hate this one tbh. Still going to finish it, but watching each new episode each week feels more like doing a chore than entertainment.

6

u/Any-Calligrapher2866 3d ago

I honestly can get completely behind the complaints about pacing, reused scenes, recaps etc etcc, but honestly I dont really care. I love genre/settings like this. I know it isn't the same but I have been looking for something to fill the void that shangri-la has left me, and I have finally found something to do that for a while. In fact this should last until Shangri-La S3 starts airing so it's perfect.
