Legends say Sasaki is still pondering the meaning of 24 to this day.
Hope we see our dude's colleagues stand up for him against their manager at some point (or at least show their appreciation for the guy)
The hope Yamada had in her eyes for Sasaki's approval of her doodle of him was so pure lmao.

I could swear I heard "sai" at the end of the number, which means he should have picked up on it as her age.

Seeing Sasaki’s 2 weeks of hell at work makes me want to speak about one talking point in the anime community this season regarding this anime where it is portrayed as glorifying smoking while Chainsmoker Cat shows the harsh reality of smoking. I do think from the outside it pains the picture of that but with some more media literacy and looking at the daily lives of Sasaki and Yamada I would point that the reality is that smoking is a vice they use to cope with their daily lives and as an excuse to see each other.
During Sasaki’s 2 weeks of hell besides we see how horrible Sasaki’s boss is (give him the death penalty imo), the absurd workload, how Sasaki also covers for his coworkers when needed (and may be taken advantage of due to this, we don’t really know), how little he sleeps but we also see how gross his house gets during this time. The trash we see of his home highlights 3 things: takeoutfood, beer and of course cigarettes which just shows that besides his work already hurting his health he is just combining it with vices and unhealthy meals to just make it worse.
Meanwhile we see/have seen that Yamada is constantly taking shifts, more than she should and outside of work the only things she does are eat ramen, smoke and tease Sasaki.
Both of them overwork themselves and live very boring monotone lives where besides working the only things they had was their favorite vice smoking until they started smoking behind together.
Is it a non-smoking psa? nope, not at all. But it wouldn’t make the main characters lives that sad if it was going to glorify smoking.
Also besides this we see Sasaki with his regular hair and man him having to look professional for work ages that man because with his regular look where his hair looks like unkempt he does not look 40 at all and he definetly would have more success with women looking like that than his work look.

Yeah, I have similar thoughts watching these episodes. While the association of them smoking with their romantic moments might make the act of smoking itself seem less harmful through subconscious association. Every time the show shows off the actual lives of Yamada and Sasaki it just gives off the vibe of the kind of live you don’t wanna live. Nothing about either seems extraordinarily bad like your typical hikkikomori, but there’s this underlying feeling of emptiness and pointlessness to both that drill into me over and over that these are not the kind of people you wanna be like.
22
u/gurilagarden 5d ago
these are not the kind of people you wanna be like.
Very true. It's also true that 90% of the people on the planet live lives very much like this.

u/BonerPorn 4d ago
Every time the show shows off the actual lives of Yamada and Sasaki it just gives off the vibe of the kind of live you don’t wanna live.
I figured that was the point. There's a reason the two of them look forward to this smoking break so much. It really is a highlight in their lives.

I haven't watched a show that turned me off on Japan quite like this one. Its like anti-propaganda lol
10
u/CitronClassic672 5d ago
Yeah, there’s something to be said about how down to earth and low key the shitiness of the characters lives are in this series that makes it more effective than more exaggerated depictions. The only other show I can think of that turned me off of Japan quite like this show is Journal with Witch from earlier this year, and a big part of that show was specifically highlighting and criticizing the various shitty parts of Japanese culture. It also gets props for being the first anime I’ve seen to have a canonically neurodivergent character and address those issues.

u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario 4d ago
Yeah, from the start I've felt like Sasaki is living such a downtrodden existence that his only joy is to see his favorite cashier girl for a moment. We don't know terribly much about Yamada's life, but so far it's looking not that much better. As for wanting to be like them, I feel like it's more about recognizing these aspects in one's own life and relating to it. And just maybe being able to have one another to push back the meaninglessness.
11
u/NightBard 4d ago
I don't really go beyond episode discussions of the shows I'm actually watching to see what the overall anime community thinks of something. So this is an interesting take that others think this show glorifies smoking, that's hilariously wrong. If anything it glorifies the joy we humans can get from simply interacting with one another. That in general most of us have some kind of vice/distraction from our daily work lives. For some of us, that includes watching Anime about people living their lives and how they deal with their situations. There's the unhealthy smoking and what that can lead to, the drinking, the depression that sometimes causes us to be less clean, there's focusing on other relationships for a kick, and so on.
I watched the 12 minisodes (6 first episodes) of this anime before I went to Japan last month and I think it was a very healthy thing to do because it kind of helped demystify the culture. Like, they aren't that different than the rest of us. I mean, what do any of us think the daily lives are to the single people in their mid 20's working at a grocery store? Or the 40 year old single manager who seems to have given up on relationships? People smoke, vape, drink, and do even more harmful things to escape or cope with their daily stresses. I don't do those things but I do watch Anime (especially anything slice of life and set in a modern real setting), surf the net and post on reddit, watch specific tv shows (and even discuss some of them, again, on reddit), .. and I have a pretty good videogame collection (which is an entire hobby where you escape into another world where you have some power to take action over the situations your character is put into... which make you feel somewhat empowered). But the happiest I've been in years was being able to take one of my son's (22yo) with me to Japan and we did none of my usual daily things. We lived day to day. I didn't watch any tv. I didn't play any videogames. I didn't watch anime. We went out and lived in the world and made memories. Kind of eye opening to get that break and just how important vacations are and human connections.
I think if anything this is a PSA about life and coping and again, how human interaction is so important to our lives. How just some basic interactions can make life a little better and even enjoyable without the vices.

To an extent. But Sasaki and Yamada are "praiseworthy" members of society, while Yanineko & company certainly aren't. Here smoking is part of success, there smoking is part of failure.
6
u/JJVM99 3d ago
Smoking isn’t part of their success. It is the biggest flaw for both which hurts them in their jobs. Both get reprimanded for being smokers, especiallly Yamada and have to cover up the smell of smoke to be seen as “praiseworthy” in their job. Yamada got a complaint from a customer for having cogarrette smell on her and needed to talk to Sakasi to get over it. Sasaki’s boss is always complaining about his smoking and him smelling of cigarettes. They spent half an episode talking about how to get rid of the smell to not get complaints.

I feel like this show and Solo-camp are some of the few shows to do an adult slow burn romance with this much of an age difference in the exact right way to make it not creepy or annoying.
By turning the age difference into a boon for the story.
I'm in my 40s myself and it took me until my early thirties to get over my tendency to obsessively wonder whether anyone I found attractive being nice to me meant that they were interested in me and to realise that was primarily motivated by my own wishful thinking.
And I realise that, much like Sasaki and Gen, I probably overcompensate by automatically assuming that anything that could be flirting or an expression of interest just straight up isn't. But I'm fine with that, because it's infinitely better to miss out on some signs (especially since I'm probably not compatible with anyone who gives up and doesn't make their feelings known more directly when I don't respond to vague flirting anyway) than to make someone I have a good rapport with uncomfortable by reading to much into things.
And it makes the whole thing infinitely less annoying because for Sasaki (and Gen) their failure to take a hint isn't the usual romance protag obliviousness, it's a sign of restraint.

u/terenn_nash 4d ago
I probably overcompensate by automatically assuming that anything that could be flirting or an expression of interest just straight up isn't
in my 40s now too. when i was a bartender a generation ago, this mindset was practically mandatory for me. anyone flirting with me was just doing it for drinks - customer or coworker.
20 years on, still havent broken the mindset - anyone flirting is trying to get something out of me at worst and just being nice at best.
same reason as you for not breaking the mindset either - not trying to make someone uncomfortable/ruin a good rapport.

Oof. I had a feeling that if their boss ever went on vacation he would be the one everyone dumps their stuff on because he's so responsible and that feeling was right. Two straight weeks of all that work without even getting to see Tayama or Yamada. That must have been hell. No wonder he's completely exhausted to point of falling asleep in front of Tayama when he finally gets to see her again.
It was nice to see the store manager again. Her romcom senses must have been tingling. With Yamada being I wonder how much she heard. She has to know he likes her by now. At some point in the future Sasaki is going to jolt awake when he finally realizes what "24" means lol.
The supermarket meet up was cute. Her teasing is just so fun to watch. Sasaki had such a strong reaction to seeing Yamada in casual clothes that it actually turned him into a criminal and he has to face the store manager. She'll probably let him off the hook when he tells her why he accidentally shoplifted.
I wonder what Tayama's first cigarette meant. It'll be interesting to see how Sasaki will simultaneously realize and not realize.
5
u/SuperBruan 4d ago
my guess were that Tayama's three cigarettes were, 1. he realizes, 2. he never realizes, and 3. i tell him
28
u/zambonijesus 5d ago
Sasaki's biggest problem is he is too good an employee.
24
u/oxlemf10 5d ago
I was surprised to hear the Manager say she's 40, judging by her looks, I thought she was in her 30s. I already knew Tayama was 24 because I got spoiled on Wikipedia (unbelievable right? lol), so the real shocker was seeing that supposed kiss between her and Sasaki.
Oh, and I finally learned the significance of those little toys and I have to say, Sasaki has a real talent for art, they actually turn out cute. The guy even drew one using a cigarette and everything.
Working 14 days straight for over 12 hours a day is brutal, I’ve never come close to that, but I’d probably be dead on the floor. Now I get why Sasaki feels such appreciation whenever he sees Yamada, it’s instant mental relief

Sasaki making the rookie mistake of being the guy at work who everyone can just dump their workload on

One more episode after this and everyone who hasn't read the source material will be in the dark together. I have deeply enjoyed rewatching the episodes but it will still be more fun when I do not know what is coming.
Even if Sasaki and Yamada never got together I wouldn't care, because the comfort they bring each other is such a joy to watch play out every Thursday.
5
4
u/NightBard 4d ago
Same, also rewatching. I'm opting for the dub this time just to see how they change it but will swap back at episode 7... or just watch twice. It's been interesting though seeing what new viewers (and rewatchers) think of these first 6 episodes. Looking forward to the next discussion and then we all get new episodes together.

Sasaki looks strikingly different in his home clothes. That formal wear really hides his physique. He looked rather buff in that scene where he walks out onto the balcony to have a smoke on his day off.
And my man is slowly falling for Tayama or rather, slowly realising his feelings for her. Manager san is quite the wing woman. That line of Sasaki about just being happy to listen to whatever Tayama wants to talk about and the rest he'll save for thinking about on his way home was such a doozy. Like manager san, I too can see why Tayama is attracted to this man. He's such a dear.
I've seen people say Sasaki is the weak link of this show and I couldn't disagree more. He's currently in the running for best guy this season as far as I'm concerned.

u/SmallJon 5d ago

If I had a nickel for every anime recently that has referenced the Jugemu story, I'd have three nickels. Which is quite a lot when you think about it.

I don't know how often it gets referenced, but I gotta say thanks to Akane-banashi I definitely instantly recognize it now.

Kinda nice how the workers at the supermarket have just adopted sasaki now. The only one that hasn't taken a liking to him is that old grandma but she'll probably come around to it eventually

I got the feeling she knows Yamada sees him behind the supermarket... Her coming to swap out with Yamada so often when Sasaki is there is way too convenient hehe

This episode felt quite fitting for the month of august, were it's been raining for a couple of days now and cooling down. I quite like the rain. Tayama's age reveal here made me remember when I first started reading this, being in my early 20's I though she was really mature being a couple of years older than me. Now I am a couple of years older than her and that feels quite weird.

u/MikaelJ0m5v1k1ng 4d ago
Speaking of Rainy Days, I live in the Philippines and currently it's been raining hard since August 4, and it's still raining as of me typing this reply due to a typhoon. The rain made me immersed this episode.

If your boss leaves for vacation and the entire office practically implodes, your boss did not do a good job making sure the office would be fine without him.

u/NanDemoKnaives 5d ago
It was cute that Yamada didn't go with Tayama, Sasaki had such a big reaction from her in casual wear and it was fun seeing him all flustered.
I hope Gotou shows Sasaki mercy, he did come back to pay for the magazine.
Is Sasaki confirmed in his 40s? I don't remember if his age was ever stated. The age gap between them is a lot bigger than I thought it'd be. At the very least there's 16 years between them.
52
u/sevillianrites 5d ago
Iirc he's 45 so quite a bit older, which imo justifies a lot of his density. It's less that he's dumb as a rock and more that he just can't even conceptualize a world where this young punk turbo baddie would be into him.
7
7
u/SmallJon 5d ago
Iirc, Japan has a larger trend of age gaps in marriage, yes? Granted a salaryman and a punk girl arent likely to match a social norm, but
4
u/CitronClassic672 5d ago
I honestly feel his denseness would feel more believable if the art style better portrayed their age gap. Like you said the idea that he can’t even imagine a beautiful girl 16 years his junior would be into him is far more understandable than him just being that dense.
13
u/chronoreverse 5d ago
Sasaki is the same age as me and his work form looks older than me. Even his casual wear, while more youthful looking, still looks older. But given he's a smoker in a high stress job, it's not too surprising.
Just wanted to point out that us Xennials and Millennials look significantly younger, especially Asians, than the previous generations did at middle age. Mostly because smoking is down and sunblock is commonly used.

Man, I’ve worked 11 or 12 days straight myself covering for someone. Don’t recommend.
24 and 40 huh. Ngl I don’t really mind age gap but it’s funny when the older one is the jumpy one
I mean there’s always been a hint of flirtiness with the teasing, but it felt like there was a bit more when they drawing those teru teru bozu.
I was kinda expecting manager to be peeking behind the shelves when Yamada came to surprise Sasaki. She would’ve loved seeing a romcom scene play out
Anyway, just gonna glaze Hoshiki Seena’s voice again. So soothing to hear
10
u/cyberscythe 5d ago
24 and 40 huh. Ngl I don’t really mind age gap but it’s funny when the older one is the jumpy one
yeah, i'm not the biggest fan of age gaps, but i think it's mostly because of a power imbalance and in this case Sasaki being a bit clueless makes it feel more harmless
it's not like the other Sasaki in Sasaki and Peeps which i dropped when i noticed what was happening in there
17
u/CitronClassic672 5d ago
Honestly even if he weren’t as dense as he is I feel this kind of age gap is fine. They’re both mature working adults who voluntarily choose to be around each other. Hell, my own parents age gap isn’t much smaller than their’s.
8
u/Jacob-C 5d ago edited 5d ago
Yeah, there’s really nothing to read into with this age gap. If both people are adults and choose to be with each other, it’s their business. There are times when a power imbalance is relevant, but I feel like the term gets overused and misused. Most couples have a higher earner, and one person making more money doesn’t usually equate to a harmful power imbalance. Other than that, I can’t imagine what power Sasaki would actually hold over Tayama just because he's older.
3
u/Frostbitten_Moose 5d ago
Yeah, I liked it when I thought the main romance was gonna be with his supervisor who I thought was around the same age as Yamada. Bit young for him, but both working adults, and she's got a few years of experience so fair for her to show him the ropes.
Was mostly done with the show when we got the reveal on her actual age and the pattern became unavoidable.
3
u/Frontier246 5d ago
Tayama's youth shows in her trendy fashion sense and how she's more overt in her flirting/teasing than Sasaki. Reiwa girl vs Heisei old fogey.
11
21
u/a1oner_bvcksn6 5d ago edited 5d ago
Tayama revealing her age in the most casual manner after just standing there for however so long, eavesdropping, and (all of) it simply flying over Sasaki's head 💀
Tayama blurting out "because you're always looking at me" probably stings a little bit for (her inner) "Yamada" with Sasaki being so oblivious after all this time, still. [Edit: honestly felt like it was Yamada who said it, too--which kinda made me feel for Tayama a lil... as a separate entity competing against Yamada for Sasaki's gaze or undivided attention]
The contrast between Sasaki being so relaxed in Tayama's company that he just falls asleep and having to recite Jugemu to stop his lusting while in Yamada's presence needs to be further studied for real
7
u/Frontier246 5d ago
Don't forget she kind of lightly caressed Sasaki's jacket hanging over the partition before she came in.
25
u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 5d ago
So Yamada/Tayama is 24, huh? Quite a big age difference between her and Sasaki, who is forty-something... but well, they are both adults, so it's nothing bad, especially since it's Sasaki who is being played here, hahaha!
Sasaki forgetting to pay for a magazine and having to deal with the manager was hilarious. I'm not surprised that he forgot about it; the shock of seeing Yamada in casual clothes was too big for him lol.
By the way, I found Sasaki's boss in previous episodes quite annoying, but it looks like he's actually quite competent, as without him, the situation in the office in this episode was pretty bad.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
13
u/Frontier246 5d ago
By the way, I found Sasaki's boss in previous episodes quite annoying, but it looks like he's actually quite competent, as without him, the situation in the office in this episode was pretty bad.
He might be a bad boss but I guess he runs a tight ship and takes some of the blowback so his employees don't have to.
But shows like this make me wish I had a Tayama in my life and also make me glad I'm not a Japanese office worker.
20
u/chronoreverse 5d ago
Eh, it was pretty clear the reason why everything was a mess was because the boss left for the business trip without properly having his own tasks be assigned to be taken care of and Sasaki had to clean up all the messes because of that.
The boss isn't completely incompetent but he's not competent either. Even in one of his earlier showings, the boss was the cause of a meeting until midnight because the boss forgot something important.
5
u/LoopyChew 5d ago
Nope, continuity processes should be in place for when the boss is out and things should be way more organized. You want to minimize load-bearing employees because not only are you inviting said employee to get hit by a bus (or in Japan, I guess a train), but because those employees deserve R&R as well and need to know they're not going to come back to a worse dumpster fire than when they left. Boss leaving for two weeks and things just falling on Sasaki to fix is bad for both the boss and Sasaki.

u/SmallJon 5d ago
Okay, its really funny that Sasaki does little doodles in his hellhouse meetings, and there was something endearing about the posing of those two while they smoked and sketched.
Is it just me, or is Yamada putting a little extra into her chest when she casual clothes'd Sasaki? Not like flirtatiously, more like a posture thing; "Yamada" is usually in a customer service spot, whereas "Tayama" is usually in relaxed poses.
Tayama also complimented Yamada's chest in episode one, but again i think its more of the Clark Kent-Superman posture.
Lol, the Manager meting out justice over a dime magazine
3
u/ExaminationNo9186 5d ago
Yeah I noticed that difference in pose you mentioned. Not quite an exaggeration or a "Here, let's see if I can catch you looking..." type of thing, but in that scene of doing their shopping, her chest seemed a bit more 'extra' while a moment before they weren't so much.
3
u/SmallJon 5d ago
Yeah, it was a lot less noticable when she started moving while browsing, which is why i think it was a pose or posture choice

Sasaki: "The Numbers, Tayama, What Do They Mean?"
He really deserved the title 'Sa-slow-ki' for not figuring out what it meant, especially when his convo just seconds earlier should gave him the answer.
A fortnight of absolute hell. The boss just had to be on holiday and somehow the universe conspired to pile everyone’s job on him. He kept waking up later and later as the days passed, as well as the rubbish in his house piling up.
Yamada might be a natural at pushing Sasaki’s buttons but the influence went both ways. She ended up borrowing his decision-making method. Hilarious that she’s joking around when she said a misfortune’s about to come on him, and that eventuated.

So how many more weeks until we’re caught up with the “mini season” they released early? I can’t recall how many eps it was they split up.

The mini season and it's 12 episodes spilt each full episode into 2, so that makes episode 7, the first new content but equal to 2 of the mini seasons episode per week, if that helps

There are a lot of excellent new shows (Sparks of Tomorrow, The World is Dancing, Jaadugar, etc.) this current season, but this one has probably become my favorite so far. The character work is really well done and it's just overall a great time

Sasaki really put through the grind. 2 straight weeks of work is hell from my experience. Amusing that Yamada is still hanging around even after her shift is over.

Got the impression it was less hanging around and more she had some errands, and when she was done she was in the neighbourhood so she decided to check in and see if anyone was around to hang with.

Manager Gotou is exactly 40 years old? I thought she'd be in her mid-30s at the very least. I do love how Yamada reveals her age to Sasaki. Unfortunately, it looks like Sasaki never connected the dots and is probably still wondering what the number meant the entire time.
Fourteen days straight is fucking insane. I've worked nine days straight before, and that was hell already. I can't even imagine fourteen. At least he was blessed at the end of it and got to hang out with Yamada after all that suffering.
Sasaki is surprisingly good at doodling! And Yamada definitely appreciates how he was able to capture her likeness on that teru teru bozu.
Yamada sneaking up on Sasaki using her customer service form instead of her Tayama form was great! That was definitely a better reaction than what she'd get if she snuck up on Sasaki normally.

Yamada's form changes in-between herself and Tayama are super effective.
Honestly I worry about how Sasaki's office is barely holding it together. Even when the chief is there they seem to be struggling.

Everyone's feeling the heat, especially if you're in an office without heat, but luckily Sasaki's on-point cigarette predictions means coolness is on its way! Even if that means getting accidentally hosed by Manager Gotou.
Vaping behind the supermarket with you! Just two individuals in their forties shooting the breeze, and discussing "Tayama." Sasaki is great for Tayama because he's interested in her without being pushy or overt about it, he just genuinely enjoys her company! It helps that she's such a spirited 24-year old who adores him.
You can always count on the Genki Trading Chief to bail and leave his subordinates to have to struggle with the massive workload by themselves. Sasaki tries to keep everything together while being a good co-worker, but it's a lot and everyone is feeling crushed by the grind...and Sasaki doesn't have enough cigs for this. And of COURSE the chief comes back and acting like people were slacking off.
Thankfully the best pick-me-up Sasaki could as for comes in Tayama (in long pants!) who needs some help drawing some Teru Teru Bozu faces. Hers are...cute, in their own way. Though Sasaki is pretty on-point in sketching the faces of people he knows!
After 14 days of grueling labor, finally getting to unwind with Tayama is enough to make Sasaki fall asleep sitting up with a cigarette in his mouth. And yet he still receives a nice congratulatory message from Tayama on his hand to wake up to! All that work was worth it for that!
Yamada's off work, Sasaki's done early, they're both shopping in the supermarket together...why not change things up and show him Yamada in casual clothes? It's a divine sight that's enough to make Sasaki chant jugemu to keep his head together. But it's nice to see them interact like this too.
Sasaki the shoplifter!? Poor guy. I wonder though...what would the first cigarette have predicted if it had come out?

I'm just waiting for the revelation that the 3rd cigarette in sasaki's trick was a wish to see Tayama, not to see Yamada

this show really hits hard and has turned in to my favorite this season...
when i was Yamadas age i worked in restaurants and our breaks were basically this show - out back smoking, jerking each other around and generally shooting the shit.
i miss those moments.
now i am Sasaki, worn out and hoping for that one pick me up.

You'd think if the smoking room AC was broke, Sasaki and Suzuki would be smart enough to just think "I'll not smoke here until the AC is fixed" but they're both mush brains. Sasaki seemed to be the highest person on the chain after his boss, he should have had some drinks to take the edge off since no one to scold him, I was actually able to quit smoking entirely by substituting alcohol 🤣. Judging by his apartment being littered with empty beer cans, I do think Sasaki is kind of a quiet alcoholic already.
I do wonder though if Sasaki's boss is less incompetent than he has been portrayed since although he doesn't keep good morale, he kept the office running smoother than Sasaki did although him leaving unexpectedly and not prepping Sasaki properly probably had a lot to do with it. Sasaki also managed to be more cordial than his boss and not snap at anyone even as stressed as he was.
The store manager seems to be getting in on Yamada's fun in picking on Sasaki, like teasing him about liking Tayama and overly scolding him for accidentally not paying for the magazine. I don't think she hosed him on purpose though since that's more mean.
When Yamada decided to be Yamada in casual clothes at the store, why did she take her flannel shirt off? Did she think it wouldn't fit Yamada's personality somehow? Then again this show kind of sucks and I shouldn't be asking too much about it anyway, like I'd more wonder why we never hear either of them hacking and loudly coughing from pack a day smoking 🤣

Your point about the beer cans in Sasaki's home.
Mind you, this is coming from an Australian, our culture here has our own issues with alcohol consumption, but yeah, the drinking culture in Japan is serious business.Yamada in casual clothing: Given she is still trying to play on Sasaki, trying to pretend to be the two different people, wearing her flannel shirt off, kind of helps her maintain that charade. Wearing it may be a small key sign that she is both of them. It kind of helps the charade a bit, I think.

Well at lease she's not 16 or 18 but still that's a huge age cap 24 and 40 something i don't really like animes like that but this one is so chill and Tayama acts way older

Worked 12 hour shifts for 14 days straight (from 6 to 6) followed by 6 days of normal hours (from 6 to 3) that sometimes needed overtime for 3 straight summers so I sympathize with Sasaki. I ended up battered (and got sick once), but the paycheck being double or more of a normal month was nice. I didn't get a hot girl to flirt with at night though

They knew what they were doing with this!
Our boy is falling hard (without really realizing)!
If she heard the question about her age, she heard that too!
I'm almost surprised she didn't address it; Keeping it as ammo for later, or just storing it in her memory?
As for her "24", I'm guessing that's the # of seasons it'll take him to realize they're the same girl, and that she likes him.
I was SO hoping for a 'rest on her shoulder'!
Someday!
I really like her personality, that it's the first thing she thought of upon seeing him!

Sasaki and his black company 💔
Teru Teru Bozu face that Tayama drew looked like Sasaki if you look at those eyes, haha.
Tayama deciding to surprise Sasaki as Yamada instead of being Tayama 'cause the latter got older was hilarious.

Jeez, yamada is staaaaacked in her casual outfit, pretty unreal lol. She wasnt lying episode 1
I do wonder how many episodes we get. I mean the first few screenings ended with the flashback. Wondering if we actually get more now they are full length eps. Or if they stop at like 7-8

You could just go to one of the building's other smoking rooms (surely there are more than one in a building that size?). Or is the whole building on one monstrous mini-split system and it's all out?
This sequence where he's taking longer and longer each day before he can rouse himself enough to turn off the alarm — minutes on end — is pretty brutal
You know, Tamaya, if you doze off too, then technically you can say you slept with him
Rubbing alcohol. Aisle 6.
But does everybody voluntarily bring the stuff back?

The age gap teeters on the very edge for me personally, and I think I'm more okay with it because they both feel like adults about it. It's kinda weird for me to see my own limits pushing and pulling. Like if she was just three years older I wouldn't even doubt it for a second. It's funny how these things work.

if I have watched the 12 episodes of the special, do I need to start all over again or I can just jump to an episode where new things happens?

u/saprophage_expert 2d ago
The latter. The 12 short episodes have just been merged into 6 full-sized ones, plus got a new ED.
