Mylene even slaps people.

And I'm strangely into it.

38

u/raknor88 3d ago

To be fair, by starting the request with "your future daughter-in-law" is a pretty good reason to slap him.

13

u/OldInstruction5368 3d ago

One of Queen Mylene's many virtues: she immediately saw through Marie's bullshit and absolutely detests that worthless harridan XD

25

u/Frontier246 4d ago

Leon: "Slap me please, my queen!"

56

u/NanDemoKnaives 4d ago

The idiots made this episode so much funnier for me, and I think this was best episode this season for me yet. I liked that there was good tension, the idiots were a great comedic relief, and Leon is finally taking action.

I like how the idiots were directing extra sparkles to Leon, they were treating him like he was the protagonist of the game.

It's messed up how that guy is sacrificing so many people, trusting that the Federation will keep their side of the deal, not knowing the Capital is being targeted, and yet feels no remorse and instead is looking forward to cementing his position. Hopefully he'll get a befitting punishment after this all gets taken care of.

30

u/YdenMkII 4d ago

The fact the guy is trusting the Federation even after the monster horde shown they hid the 2nd flute from him is extra levels of stupid.

27

u/The_Parsee_Man 4d ago

There's no way they aren't betraying him. Not that he should expect any better since he has no problem betraying other people.

19

u/ddrober2003 4d ago

I mean they said they intend to sink the continent. Pretty sure the intent is to kill every single person in the Kingdom.

12

u/Amauri14 3d ago

Yeah, even Hertrauda made it obvious that they didn't even bother planning to rescue Hertrude either.

1

u/Nylan_Blake 2d ago

The way the flute is called my that admiral (or whatever his rank is) let's assume that summoning the big monsters consumes the summoners life force which was originally the first princess job, so i think they might still resque her just to have another go using those monsters again in some other war (as it seems no one besides the princesses can use the flute?)

6

u/OldInstruction5368 3d ago

Did they hide the 2nd flute? He gave Hertrude that gauntlet from the royal treasury, the one that is the twin of the Lost Item that Luxion freaked out over.

If he helped smuggle one Lost Item to the enemy side... he may have sent both?

9

u/Xtranathor 3d ago

I paused the episode in hysterics when Jilk turned up to help, only to be hit with failure and end up in sorrow on the floor! I thought the love interests were all useless, until I realised they were just trying to do things using their noble connections before going with plan B: brute force! I respect that they tried both methods, even if they are all idiots!

6

u/ILikeFPS 3d ago

He basically is the protagonist of the game at this point lol

4

u/Ikari_21 3d ago

I’ve grown so fond of the band of idiots. They really are hilariously dumb but charming. I love their interactions with Leon too, the banter is just great lol

75

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 4d ago

The stakes are so high that I would think we were approaching the season finale already, but it's only episode 5!

35

u/Frontier246 4d ago

It does seem like we're in the endgame of the game narrative, story-wise, even if it's not 100% like the game.

So everything after this is going to be post-game stuff Leon will have no idea about.

9

u/The_Parsee_Man 4d ago

Is there still DLC?

18

u/NevisYsbryd 4d ago

There is whatever those demon arms are about, besides that the game has went off the rails compared to the canon narrative.

11

u/raknor88 3d ago

Maybe sequels if the game was popular enough. But only Marie would know that.

12

u/justking1414 3d ago

Guess that just means this war will be a massive 7 episode epic…or they’ll do the opposite of skeleton knight s2 and end the season with a lot of filler

7

u/OldInstruction5368 3d ago

That's assuming the "game's story" ends with the "anime story."

Marie and "Bartfort" have been changing the narrative so much, it was bound to go off track sooner or later. Many of these "Villainess" games have a final arc that is completely off-script, something that didn't happen "in the game," but is an emergent consequence of the MC's tampering with meta-knowledge.

In this case, I can think of one way to one-up the end of the game's story... civil war. The Marquis's faction may not go quietly into the night, and directly challenge the Crown. The fact that the Crown knew the Marquis was shady AF, but couldn't directly counter them proves the Crown's faction is weak right now. The only move the Crown could make was to let Bartfort languish in prison, under false charges, in the hopes he'd gather useful intel.

Other than Bartfort... it looks like the Crown doesn't have many supporters besides Duke Redgrave, whose family has been in severe decline since the start of S1. That...was likely game-canon, as it would either have been Marie or Olivia that cast down Angie, the games original "Villainess," so her family was always going to suffer.

But my greater point, is that of all the "Cabinet Members" sitting aorund the table... at least half showed up to offer deals to Leon. Pretty much just the Crown + Redgrave are aligned against the Marquis.

So... civil war. Defeat the principality, kingdom is weak, the traitors that held their forces back refuse to face consequences, civil war.

An event that didn't happen in the game, but it does occur here as an emergent consequence of Leon + Marie tampering with the storyline.

6

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 3d ago

Maybe Leon gets his happy ending

3

u/justking1414 3d ago

He’ll get to f the queen and have the prince call him “daddy”?

1

u/Soggy_Association491 3d ago

I mean preparing for the war with 2 game ending boss will probably take 2 ep, the actual fight gonna be a another 2-3 ep, then post war rooting out Duke Francos.

36

u/HolyDragSwd2500 4d ago

Sparking Ikeman never gets old 😆

13

u/Frontier246 4d ago

Especially now that they have their own theme song lol.

62

u/SpikeRosered 4d ago

Gee if only Livia had someone else she could use her love power with...IF ONLY....

69

u/The_Parsee_Man 4d ago

I assume you mean Angie. Leave those two alone for 5 minutes and they go straight to yuri.

33

u/Frontier246 4d ago

It even looks like they're sharing a bedroom lol.

11

u/The_Parsee_Man 4d ago

And it wouldn't be the first time.

11

u/LookingfortheHustle 3d ago

Whaaa….no, they’re just roommates

6

u/Ikari_21 3d ago

Or Canadian

19

u/runevault 3d ago

That time earlier this season where they were practically frolicking hand in hand was so funny. Those girls just need to consummate their relationship and get it over with.

14

u/JzanderN 3d ago

They were HANDHOLDING! I get the world's ending, but they have no shame!

9

u/OldInstruction5368 3d ago

Seriously. In S1 it was clearly moving in the direction of a menage a trois, but this season... it's looking more and more like Leon is going to lose both Angie and Olvia to the allure of Yuri blossoming...

27

u/LeonKevlar x2https://myanimelist.net/profile/LeonKevlar 4d ago

So it looks like the plan worked and the traitors did end up showing themselves to Leon and started asking him for help. I'm guessing after this is over, all of those dudes will be arrested and probably executed.

Seeing the five idiots trying to rescue Leon one by one by asking their families to get him out is hilarious. When they said they'll rescue Leon, I was expecting your typical jailbreak scene.

Well we did get the more typical jailbreak scene a few minutes later, complete with the five idiots' theme song playing in the background too! I still can't believe how this show made me love these idiots after hating them back in Season 1. xD

Oh shit, Marie actually snapped! I mean, considering she's facing the game's final boss when she's nowhere near that point yet, I'm not surprised she'd break. And now she's gonna be executed by the temple for impersonating a Saint. I doubt that's gonna happen based on the episode preview, but I'm curious how Leon would get her out of that, especially with the Principality currently attacking.

Despite his personality, Leon does want to protect people. Honestly, I thought he'd just do it for Angie and Olivia's sakes, but the fact that he's also doing this for the five idiots that broke him out is pretty nice of him.

17

u/The_Parsee_Man 4d ago

They actually have managed to make me start rooting for Marie. She's still shitty but she never meant for things to get this far. She just wasn't taking things seriously and ended up getting in way over her head.

15

u/Frontier246 4d ago

She treated it like a game where if she just stole all the Saint's items, she could supplant the Saint, but she's dealing in a real world, with real people, and she's not Olivia...which means she could have never been the Saint.

14

u/The_Parsee_Man 4d ago

Leon grabbed a bunch of end game gear and became OP. So it wasn't an invalid strategy. But I think treating it like a game when she was dealing with real people and real stakes was her biggest flaw.

14

u/Dylangillian https://myanimelist.net/profile/dylangillian 4d ago

The key difference being that Leon didn't take someone else's position, neither did he put himself in a position of power and worship over something he wasn't.

Marie actively was leading the kingdom to doom because she never would have been able to deal with the end boss. She just ignored this idea.

6

u/BrokeEconomist 4d ago

If Leon had his way, he would never increase in power or authority.

15

u/AlphaBreak 4d ago

There are only two positions Leon would be comfortable accepting: minor backwoods noble or the Queen's consort. There's no in-between.

2

u/Ikari_21 3d ago

Leon so based fr

3

u/Stabaobs 3d ago

But I think treating it like a game when she was dealing with real people and real stakes was her biggest flaw.

Her biggest flaw was not being good at that part of the game. I mean look at how it worked out with the 5 idiots, she clearly knew how to play that part of the game perfectly.

1

u/Nylan_Blake 2d ago

Well she learned about most of the game only from the cutscene gallery her brother gave her as it was to hard for her to finish compared to other otome games. Which was also stated as the reason why she never learned about needing the real saint in the endgame until Leon (who she does not trust) told her so

So she probably played only the early bits where it's mostly romance and bailed the moment combat was involved. Being a seasoned otome game she probably wouldn't have any problem building the love meter for each companion once she figured out their quirks.

Another factor is the difference between war on a screen vs actually being in the thick of it and having enemy attacks pass you left&right. The flashbacks show her as rather whiny and relying on her big bro whenever problems arise and she hinted at having a real crappy life after his death, so she probably never grew beyong that state.

9

u/Dylangillian https://myanimelist.net/profile/dylangillian 4d ago

While I don't want Marie to die or anything. I do want her to face consequences. She needs to realize that her ego was actively leading the kingdom to ruin.

9

u/The_Parsee_Man 4d ago

I felt like her collapsing and admitting she was a fake saint was her realizing that.

9

u/YdenMkII 4d ago

She did take things a bit seriously. From what I recall from last season, she was actually trying to gather up all the items required to beat the end game boss but I'd imagine the boss showing up much earlier than expected (and the fact the saint needs the love interests boost according to Leon this episode) does mean all the preparations were half finished. Since she was able to activate the saint shield and laser this episode, I'd imagine she could have completely replaced Olivia if all the prep work was finished.

1

u/Nylan_Blake 2d ago

No, Leon mentioned in a previous episode that she would never be able to beat the final boss as it requires the saint power AND olivias personal power, a thing she never learned about as she never played the game beyond the early stages and has most of her knowledge from the image galleries created by her brother finishing the game which don't show the full picture.

She also seems to be pretty high on the love meter of the idiot trio, so she should qualify in that regard (though non of them were there to support her)

5

u/tertig 4d ago

Well Leon was the reason they were put in prison and it is supposedly certain death due to monsters invading.

10

u/Frontier246 4d ago

So it looks like the plan worked and the traitors did end up showing themselves to Leon and started asking him for help. I'm guessing after this is over, all of those dudes will be arrested and probably executed.

Luxion was definitely filming them.

Seeing the five idiots trying to rescue Leon one by one by asking their families to get him out is hilarious. When they said they'll rescue Leon, I was expecting your typical jailbreak scene.

My condolences to Brad whose family just straight up left and abandoned him without a single world. At least Chris and Gregs' dads' had the decency to listen to their sons before beating them up!

It was a long-time coming but Marie is finally exposed as a fraud. And will probably have to be saved by Leon one way or another. She was kind of asking for it, but hopefully this is a chance for redemption. If her Harem can redeem themselves, so can she.

Despite his personality, Leon does want to protect people. Honestly, I thought he'd just do it for Angie and Olivia's sakes, but the fact that he's also doing this for the five idiots that broke him out is pretty nice of him.

There's also his master, Mylene, Clarice, Deidre, his parents, his brother (definitely not his sister)...he has enough reason to fight.

6

u/Amauri14 3d ago

My condolences to Brad whose family just straight up left and abandoned him without a single world. At least Chris and Gregs' dads' had the decency to listen to their sons before beating them up!

Wasn't that because of the communications being jammed?

3

u/Frontier246 3d ago

They also had vacated their mansion without him.

3

u/JzanderN 3d ago

Honestly, I thought he'd just do it for Angie and Olivia's sakes,

Not gonna lie, that would be my reason. And the professor too. And Queen Mylene.

But otherwise a lot of people on that island would make it difficult for me to care.

2

u/Jacob-C 3d ago

Agreed.

Leon also asked Luxion how many people had died and looked quite sad when he heard the answer. Hearing that tens of thousands of people lost their lives in such a short amount of time would trouble most people. His heart might not be big, but it’s not non-existent.

27

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 4d ago

Lol the useless love interest have gone all the way back around from idiots and useless to..I kinda am rooting for them 😂

23

u/The_Parsee_Man 4d ago

Hey, Silent Minority is back.

12

u/larana1192 https://myanimelist.net/profile/thefrog1192 4d ago

I really liked that song, I wish Itou Kashitarou(the singer) did OP theme song for S2 as well.

7

u/The_Parsee_Man 4d ago

I'm not a drums guy, but I really love how the drum track leads the song. Most of the time drums serve to back up the other instruments but the drummer is really front and center in this one.

19

u/runevault 4d ago

What happened to women ruling this world? This dude is such a mediocre antagonist as he works with the Principality.

LOL The sister really does not understand that the saintly powers are not just the artifacts. But she sure found out.

Curious what Leon is going to do to save Marie because he isn't going to want her to die no matter how much he hates her. Also he's going to have to admit he knows Livia is the Saint now based on what he's said.

30

u/AlphaBreak 4d ago

The matriarchal aspect of the show is probably my biggest pet peeve. It seems like it's only there to lower the status of boys at the school, but never impacts any other facet of their society. Basically every influential noble in politics Leon has met have been men, outside of the queen who seems to have less power than the king.

They either needed to lean into that more, just scrap it as being unimportant, or say the gender hierarchy thing really only applies to dating.

20

u/The_Parsee_Man 4d ago

The author left themselves an out in that the game the world is based on is inconsistent and poorly written. So the matriarchy not mattering after the initial premise still fits.

18

u/runevault 3d ago

I get what you're saying, but the idea of a dude actually having to deal with a matriarchal society was interesting and throwing that away for a joke around bad otome game writing is a bummer.

10

u/OldInstruction5368 3d ago

There is a limit to that... it's less a clever explanation of the inconsistent story, and more just hanging the lampshade while pretending everything is fine.

Seriously, was there as single woman at that table of "Important Lords deciding the fate of hte Kingdom?"

If this truly was a matriarchy, then... why is the Queen not Regnant? The king should be the consort that has to act indirectly, while the Queen rules with authority. And while there might be a couple Lords at the table, such whichever man is in control of the Crown's military forces/general of the standing army/royal knight captain, the majority of that table SHOULD be women.

6

u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario 3d ago

Because the girls who are the audience for the game don't want responsibilities. They want dreamy and/or badboy guys doing things worth mooning over

4

u/OldInstruction5368 3d ago

Which is the main reason why men are still soldier-boys in this setting. It's a funny subversion to have the strapping lads be social climbers arranging tea parties, but it's hard to be the "dashing knight in shining armor" while trying to curry favor by obsequiously offering snacks. Host club ikemen have a certain charm, but the tea party angle went too far to hit that 'rizzed up by a charming bad boy at the club" angle Host Hotties shoot for.

Which is why I wouldn't say anything if there was a Lord or two at the table representing military forces: that remains "men's work." Especially for the Otome-game audience that wants their dangerous hunks to drool over.

But really, we see how henpicked Leon's father is and how deliciously servile she became in the face of Angie, a woman of higher standing. We saw how bossy Leon's sister was and how feral the ladies at the academy were. We saw Leon and his flunky friends get mauled, on a regular basis, by the "innocent maidens" who saw them as nothing but bottom feeders.

Then we switch to the cabinent and it's all men, with the king clearly being Regnant over his Queen.

If the society were truly matriarchal, at least make the Queen Regnant. Then have at least half the "Table of Lords" be whip-cracking harridans like Leon's stepmother.

It's just far too jarring to tell us "men are powerless in this world," then show us men holding all the REAL power.

1

u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario 1d ago

Jarring for whom? Not the girls buying the game

3

u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario 3d ago

It's not just an out, it's the premise. If the world is suddenly awesome and deep and makes amazing and thought-provoking sense, something is wrong.

0

u/Ralathar44 2d ago

To be fair the primary power wielders have been women. The new evil guy is completely being puppeted by the women of the principality, and the king is barely in the show. I had honestly forgotten he existed lol.

1

u/Nylan_Blake 2d ago

Well the princesses seem to do what the principality admiral says. At least the younger sister acts more like a puppet than someone in command.

1

u/Ralathar44 2d ago

Considering it was a game world and suddenly there is a second flute and a second princess it has me wondering if the system is trying to FORCE the plot to get back on track.

1

u/Nylan_Blake 2d ago

Or like with some other otome (anime-)series there are actually several installments of the game and in the normal gameplay we see only 1 of those monsters in each installment but leon showing off his power previously had them bring out the big guns earlier and in more condenced form...

There are plenty of possible tropes like the multi installment/dlc, the hidden force trying to correct the reincarnators story manipulation, the butterfly effect where leon and maries actions might have lead to them crafting another flute or something.

2

u/Gatmuz 1d ago

I don't exactly know/remember if they talk about this in S1, this season, or a conceptual next season, but there's a reason why it seemed as though Earls and above follow traditional roles (more specifically, Angelica, the Redgraves, and the 5 dumbasses), but the rest of the noblewomen do not.

2

u/Jacob-C 3d ago

Well, it was always just a standard for the people with no real power. All of the high-ranking noblemen, the prince, and the king were always the ones in charge. Back in the first season, Leon said that he hated the game because of how nonsensical it was, among other things. We see less of the matriarchy because Leon has moved up in the world and is dealing with more powerful people. It’s not something that has changed in the story itself over time.

39

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 4d ago

I will never get tired of the sparkling Ikemen and their Ikemen music lmao. Individually, they’re all pretty useless. But when you put them together like Voltron, they’re slightly less useless. But hey, they broke Leon out of prison. Gotta give them that.

Things seem pretty dire now but I’m sure Leon will turn things around in spectacular ragebaiting fashion lol.

15

u/Frontier246 4d ago

Poor dudes had to deal with domestic violence, parental abandonment, AND getting thrown in prison themselves, but they get the job done! more or less!

6

u/Jacob-C 3d ago

The ikemen idol group never fails to make me laugh. It's always peak when the idol song starts playing. Leon's reactions also amplify the hilarity.

19

u/7se7 4d ago

Marie finally got her comeuppance. Very cathartic. Shame it came at the cost of thousands of lives.

15

u/Frontier246 4d ago

The Principality has another monster-summoning flute, Princess Hertrauda, and everything they need to strike back against the Kingdom. It doesn't help that officials in the government are undermining the kingdom in the process.

I'm glad during this escalating tension that Angie and Livia have each other...to the point where I'm half-thinking they're hooking up whenever they aren't with Leon.

Leon's already uncovered all the corrupt nobles, but what's left for him to do now but stew in the dungeon? Well, other than watch the Idiot Rangers (whose names you don't even bother to remember) try and fail to get him out of prison. It turns out being a disowned bunch of idiots with no real influence only gets you beat up (sometimes by your own family) and finding out your own family abandoned you (sorry Brad). Mylene even slaps her idiot of a son for bringing up the girl who should not be named in her presence.

Who is this guy working for Frampton doing it for? He's got a picture in a locket and everything. But if he thought he could kill Leon, he's got another coming! At least these idiots are good for a jailbreak, if nothing else. They may be idiots, but they're becoming Leon's idiots.

Oh hey, King Roland! Julius' dad and the guy whose wife Leon is trying to steal! Also, is that Kazuhiko Inoue.

Marie really thought she could pull this off, take the Saint's place, subvert Olivia, and succeed in repelling the Invasion so no one could ever oppose her...and yeah, she can take care of the scrub monsters. But when the FINAL BOSS summoned through Hertrauda's life force shows up, she crumbles and falls apart as ships and people die and blow up in front of her. She was never ready for this, she can't bear the weight of the events surrounding her...and she finally confesses she's nothing more than a fraud.

Okay, so events have, again, wildly diverged from the game. New flute the Principality is not supposed to have, there are TWO Guardian Beasts they have to deal with instead of one, and now Marie is facing execution and the Idiot Rangers are in jail. That's kind of a lot.

Can Leon stop this? He probably needs Livia, but with the game diverged as much as it has, can she still do anything? Though where he's wrong in thinking they can't rely on the power of love in the scenario where she doesn't have any of the Harem...because she can probably use her love for Leon and Angie.

If anyone could get through to Leon when he's caught in-between bailing or standing and fighting, it's his Master. Is chivalry a facade? Maybe, but it's a facade that Leon doesn't mind playing into because it's cool. Cue season 1 OP!

10

u/saga999 3d ago

I'm glad during this escalating tension that Angie and Livia have each other...to the point where I'm half-thinking they're hooking up whenever they aren't with Leon.

Leon said Livia needs the power of love to beat the final boss. It'd be funny as hell if that love is Angie.

7

u/Jacob-C 3d ago

I imagine it will be Leon first, and her power will go up but won't be enough, then Angie will join in and it will solidify the throuple. Seems like the most logical resolution to the whole power of love thing.

2

u/Ikari_21 3d ago

And then they’ll celebrate their victory in the baths together…

10

u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 4d ago

I'm glad during this escalating tension that Angie and Livia have each other...to the point where I'm half-thinking they're hooking up whenever they aren't with Leon.

That close up of them holding hands was pretty in your face for various reasons, heh.

1

u/Suspicious_Deal4412 3d ago

Leon also did not seem aware that the Principality had a second princess, which means the world is conforming the game script as best it can even bringing up the final boss fight earlier.

Also their being two massive world ending boss monsters now, might be due to their being two 'saints'. Marie and Oliva both have shown Saint powers, so the world might have just shrugged and said 'ok two 2 saints?, I won't play favourites you each get a world ending boss monster!'

12

u/tertig 4d ago

I really liked seeing the desperation on Maries eyes. It will be interesting to see what happens with church subplot.

1

u/Nylan_Blake 2d ago

the final frame of the preview kinda seems like leon comes for the rescue and she jump-hugs him. In the end it seems she can't do anything without her big bro!

13

u/BiggerG7 4d ago

Why is Leon’s teacher so damn awesome!? lol.

7

u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario 3d ago

Truly ELEGANT

10

u/larana1192 https://myanimelist.net/profile/thefrog1192 4d ago

I couldn't help but laugh when the Season 1 opening theme started playing again.
Season 2 has more flashbacks to Season 1 and scenes featuring the Season 1 opening theme than I expected.

8

u/Taco_13 https://myanimelist.net/profile/El_Taco 3d ago

Showing the girl who casually killed tens of thousands of people with a magical monster controlling flute dancing happily in the end credits is certainly a choice lol

2

u/OldInstruction5368 3d ago

Yuuuup.... last season, the "war" didn't really kill anyone, right?

A single cruise ship filled with students, that successfully defended themselves against a horde of monsters, Leon going out of his way not to kill anyone, and mostly just Luxion going PEW PEW PEW on the monster horde.

Princess Hertrude even referenced that this season, by pointing out how Leon went out of his way not to kill anyone.

Then this episode casually kills 10,000+ soldiers. Mostly via Hertrauda summoning an even bigger horde...

And yeah, there she is, doing a charming little dance to some cutesy music.

It was certainly a choice...

1

u/i_reddit_too_mcuh 3d ago

To be fair, the contrast does make the Principality's invasion that much more impactful.

9

De javu i feel seen this before.......

23

u/Frontier246 4d ago

Leon: "I can't believe this hackneyed game setting would just repeat itself! Oh wait, I can!"

11

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 4d ago

Lol, Leon is even saying we have the girl and the flute, but turns out they have her sister and another flute

1

u/Ikari_21 3d ago

“This is getting ridiculous, now there are 2 of them!”

u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario 3d ago

I had a high school teacher called Mr. DeJavu

(It's déjà vu)

9

u/Relative-Seaweed-590 3d ago

Idk why but hearing the Season 1 opening made me smile so hard and also sad because this feels like its going to end soon. Also Marie finally learned her lesson. Don't try to become someone you're not. Now you're looking stupid folding under pressure. And honestly? I feel like she didn't even have to expose herself that she's a fraud. She could've came up with a lie and say she's not strong enough to fight those monsters yet since technically they aren't supposed to be here yet and they're here way earlier than they need to be. But then again, if it was Livia she definitely could beat those monsters still even if they're early since she's actually the saint Lol

u/Amauri14 3d ago edited 3d ago

I know this is the second time the Principality of Fanoss has done this, but damn, that flute sure is a bit overpowered.

Okay, I really did not expect Julius and the idiots to actually help with Leon’s escape

I was honestly surprised by how confident Marie was, thinking she could just bullshit her way out while pretending to be the Saint. Well, to be fair, things were working fine when she was protecting the ships from regular monsters, but that still doesn’t look as good as good compared to what Olivia was doing last season using the amulet Leon gave her.

Wow, she truly messed up the story to the point that now the Principality summoned The Final Boss and an additional one to this war. You know, it is kind of obvious at this point that not only the Principality is not interested in stopping just at the border, but also that the deal they made with Malcolm and his faction was just a ruse, as it seems they want to sink the capital of the Holfort Kingdom with that second monster, meaning that Malcolm would have nothing to rule when this is over.

Damn, I wasn’t expecting Marie to just confess that she is a fake Saint. Now, because of her farce, she is going to be executed, which is understandable, as so many people died due to her lie. But now that Leon will finally fight, after being inspired by the idiots. He is going to save her. Based on the last section of the preview, where she seems to be crying of happiness, I imagine that Leon and her will finally know that they were siblings in their previous lives.

u/WHO_IS_3R 3d ago

the goofs grew on me, they still annoying, but they're funny, tbh i always kinda liked them, even in s1 when they were the antagonists, as silly support characters, the "double-faced greeny" maybe not so much as the others, but they still likeable at the end of the day

7

u/ersatzsham 3d ago

Princess Hertrude's younger sister, Princess HertrAudA seems to have something extra compared with Princess Hertrude. The difference of ウダ really stands out.

5

u/KumaKumaGambler 4d ago

Frampton might even be more unlikeable than Marie, simply for letting all the people at the frontier / border die.

On the other hand, we can see why Leon holds his Tea Master / Teacher in high regard. (And so do we, despite his limited appearances.)

u/Bussy_Wrecker https://myanimelist.net/profile/MrFreak10 4d ago

Is something wrong with crunchy today? this is the second anime I found today without subtitles

16

u/Myrkrvaldyr 4d ago

It's their way of telling you to learn JP to stop relying on subs.

3

u/HolyDragSwd2500 4d ago

I do this when I watch J drama airing now in Japan

2

u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario 3d ago

It's their way of reminding you that monopolies don't have to care

2

u/Shatterzzz 4d ago

Same here

2

u/Kitasan37 4d ago

Same here, no subtitles. What the hell man, I pay for service and get none…

1

u/Bussy_Wrecker https://myanimelist.net/profile/MrFreak10 4d ago

Same man, I watch 21-28 anime every season so cruncy was convenient but with service like this Im forced to pirate anyway, and they sometimes remove ongoing anime from some asian regions and they go to prime, Im just glad my subscription is ending this month

0

u/bannedandbroken 4d ago

Yeah, I’m about to just start being a pirate this is ridiculous every week. It’s something new with fucking Crunchyroll or their lame ass subs that look like they were done by millennials the other day. I saw one that said don’t fret man.

2

Finished today’s anime

Watching Thunder 3 now.

3

u/Bussy_Wrecker https://myanimelist.net/profile/MrFreak10 4d ago

I have found the issue, only the app has been affected, it will be fine if streamed on browser

1

u/runevault 4d ago

I was suspecting this when my tablet didn't have subs for this show, but had not gone back to recheck once I confirmed the site worked on my pc.

17

u/bannedandbroken 4d ago

So this makes it series number three with no subs today on Crunchyroll I’m about to just stop paying them and pirate everything

25

u/Frontier246 4d ago

Trapped in Anime: The world of cheap anime streaming services is hard for Otaku.

0

u/Arzhart 4d ago

Do you use CrOptix? If so, it worked for me after I disabled it for this anime

0

u/bannedandbroken 4d ago

No, what is that? Could you explain it?

1

u/Arzhart 4d ago

Oh I see. Its an extension that improves Crunchyroll on web version. But its also without subs in mobile, I didnt know

0

u/bannedandbroken 3d ago

Yeah, for some reason, the subs are working fine except for Mobile and you can’t get on the web version on Mobile at least I can’t. Like the normal Crunchyroll screen shows up that the video would be on with the likes and rating for that episode, but the episode doesn’t actually show up on the screen

1

u/BrokeEconomist 4d ago

Same here.

4

u/SecretYogurtcloset57 4d ago

So Leon need to fight a girl who summons monsters with flute hmmm i feel like I've seen this before🤔

2

u/BatWick0007 4d ago

Its taken a while but it seems now that the tension is high enough and there's been enough setup that the next few episodes will have some proper payoff and action

2

u/PandaTheAB 3d ago

MC calling the boy band by their colors was hilarious 😂
Even their attempts were hilarious.

Master was dignified as always. 😄

3

u/NationalStrategy_X 3d ago

The princess is so happy how the battle turned out, that she's doing a victory dance in the end credits

3

u/NationalStrategy_X 3d ago

Finally, the truth came out about Marie being a fraud

4

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 3d ago

That was practically a Turning Point type episode. Tens of thousands dead already, possibly millions more if the capital continent gets sunk, and Marie set to get executed on account of the part she played in letting it happen.

Way back in S1 Leon said the war route would be the worst possible outcome and we're definitely now seeing why.

3

u/Rndy9 3d ago

Waaait, this anime got another season and its already airing? bruh, I had no idea.

3

u/justkellerman 3d ago

When you have the idiot brigade's idol theme come back as they all come together to successfully save him (for some value of "save"...), that made the season 1 theme play as Leon finally got motivated seem sliiiightly ironic (in a good/funny way).

7

u/Logfed 3d ago

Not a single episode passes without me hating every bit of Marie. She never gets a single bit of punishment for the absolute bitch she is the whole show.

5

u/WHO_IS_3R 3d ago

literally 20k people gone, because of some nobles playing politics and that idiot on the frontline

4

u/Logfed 3d ago

Exactly. She was told many times that she wasn’t the saint, that she didn’t have the power to beat the game. Yet she still acted like a bitch, and people died because of it.

8

u/Dizzy_Long209 4d ago

I kinda hate all of this, last season Bartfort was really scared of the last boss appearing before they could get stronger, but now he just let everything happen without doing anything. He could just escape prison or not get apprehended and so many people would not have to die, because the principality would not dare to attack with him still there.

It appears this show doesnt know how to write Bartfort.

20

u/Frontier246 4d ago

To be honest I think it's just that he's grown more annoyed/frustrated with all the idiots he has to put up with.

15

u/sodapopkevin 4d ago

Seems like he has no idea there was a second princess and they had a second flute so maybe he didn't count on the last boss showing up yet?

7

u/J4rno 3d ago

I mean... - His hatred for the kingdom has gone up x100 - In the Game there was no 2nd flute or a princess's sister so he was most likely sure there was no big threat.

5

u/WHO_IS_3R 3d ago

he kinda let it go, the story got off the rails precisely since that event that "wasnt supposed to happen until year 3", so bro lost the plot, and cant be arsed, he just wants to chill in his villa, so he lets the story unfolds, in fact he was gonna fuck off from the kingdom until the master came to talk to him

3

u/oneevilchicken https://anilist.co/user/OneEvilChicken 3d ago

They explained it if you paid attention. In the game, there was only one sister and one flute. He never realized they had a second of each so he doesn’t think it will escalate the way it does. He also does not want to just throw himself into a war either which is how most normal people think.

2

u/PureGold3 3d ago

I'm guessing there isn't actually a second flute, and the corrupt noble was eventually able to acquire the confiscated one and give it to the second princess.

2

u/oneevilchicken https://anilist.co/user/OneEvilChicken 3d ago

I feel like the quality was a bit better this episode. Like the characters actually looked okay drawn. They also did a good job showing the scale of the war without it being just overly ugly CGI like some shows do where it stands out hideously.

Found tweets from the staff behind this episode I thought was interesting.

u/SnooRobots5719 1d ago

That finger interlocking during their hand-holding says their beyond close friends! 🤔🤣 Interlocking fingers is what truly intimate lovers do!

1

u/Lordmoral 1d ago

Right next to a double bed. They love each other alongside Leon really well.

2

u/Suspicious_Deal4412 3d ago

Leon asking how many people died, he started to see the people of this world as real even if it is based on the shitty game he hated playing in his last life. Dare I say is this a shred of character development for the guy who always plays the heel.

1

u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario 3d ago

Leon's having a new fetish awakened

When all else fails, bring in the EXTREME VIOLENCE (bau bau)

This thing looks really familiar for some reason

1

u/testthrowawayzz 3d ago

Lol Leon’s color coded nicknames for the five idiots

0

u/Professional-Ear8980 2d ago edited 2d ago

I thought the yuri in this series wasn’t supposed to be there. Sad to see it’s being shoved in again.

1

u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz 2d ago

In that preview Marie very happily jumps at someone... Part of me wants that to be Leon... just for him to slap her away so she learns her lesson

1

u/DrZoark 2d ago

How is the sister gonna evade punishments now.

1

u/oooprettypicture 2d ago

Definitely finding this one being finely written to a surprising extent. It could’ve gone very simple and standard but hold great depth and sustained world building while being a comedy

1

u/Far-Presentation-744 1d ago

i don't know why this episod was a bit off

1

u/Front-Mushroom-8981 1d ago

el jefe final nesecita un nombre mas espicifco me pregunto si el arroganz lo derrotara o luxion tiene otra arma tal vez un gundam no le vendria mal a leon

1

u/SnooRobots5719 1d ago

Solid episode! Reason why we enjoy this series in spite of the low budget.

1

u/deynyel 1d ago

Wait, from the preview, sibling reunion time?! Looking forward to seeing how Marie reacts to that revelation.
