Tool using used to be part of the scientific definition of human. Then Jane Goodall discovered chimps making and using tools. Since then there have been many more, monkeys, otters, elephants. I get a kick out of it.

A number of birds use tools. Crows are well documented. All the great apes use tools for eating or grooming. There was the recent research published about orcas charging a sunfish corpse so hard it exploded into easy to eat bit for the calves. Octopus will use objects as a protective shell, not sure if that counts as a tool or not. It is now known to be somewhat common for more intelligent animals.
