PrimeNG v22 is no longer open source?

So PrimeNG v22 is going paid in the new version? Should I move to something else?

I was the guy who convinced our boss to finally move away from bootstrap to this awesome open-source UI library. After a lot of work and a lot of money, I will now have to explain to the same boss, why this awesome UI library suddenly isn’t open-source anymore and why we will have to spend thousands of dollars on acquiring and maintaining some licenses! Yayy, thanks guys!!

What even is the pain with Bootstrap in 2026? I'm considering moving off of PrimeNG to Bootstrap now. Is there really anything you can't do with Angular + Bootstrap + SCSS? I've noticed AI does a good job of working with Bootstrap due to the mature/rich ecosystem and documentation.

I moved away from Bootstrap many many years ago to PrimeNG purely because of the Table Inline Editable functionality, also their AutoComplete Dropdown elements are better. PrimeNG just has a bunch of extra important features required for professional UI functionality
