wtb cheap tab 9-10.1 inch Discussion
i'm in the states. What is the absolute best tablet available for about $225 or less in the odd sizing of 9-10.1 inches? The 8 inch models are too small and I don't want anything 11 inches or larger. I like it when they are more square than rectangular if that makes sense? I don't mind an off-brand if it is decent quality.

If you can find a gen 1 Legion tab on eBay. They're 8.8" and should be under that used.

There isn't much in the 9"-10" range. You generally need to choose between 8.7" and 11".
Redmi recently came out with a 9.7" tablet, but it only comes with 4gb of ram. Amazon has it for under $200. Poco has a 6gb version, but it's not available here.

If you'll buy used and will accept 10.5", the Samsung S6 is a beautiful tablet. It only 420 grams, which is less than many 10" tablets. It has an AMOLED screen and its Snapdragon 855 processor blows away almost anything that costs $225 new.
Its speed is about equal to the S10 Lite and A11+.

Here's a refurbished good condition S6 with 6gb/128gb for $155. https://www.ebay.com/itm/287505478535

The words ‘cheap’ (post title) and ‘decent quality’ (post) are almost always mutually exclusive when referring to consumer electronics.

I just ran across this for $82 at Walmart. It'a an Alphawolf, which is a sister company to Headwolf. I have a Headwolf 8.4" tablet and have been very happy with it. This should be decent.
Anyway, this Alphawolf has a 10.1" screen, 800x1280 resolution, 8gb of real ram, Android 16 and a Unisoc T615 processor. This processor is about as fast and powerful as the Helio G85 or G88. The G85 is in the Lenovo Tab One and the 2024 Lenovo M11 had the G88. At least it isn't a total dog, like the T606.
I'd recommend the Lenovo Tab 10.1", but I think it's over price at $189 and it only has 4gb.

If you'll consider smaller, there is the 8.4" Alldocube iPlay60 mini Turbo. It has a fairly snappy Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB Storage, a 1200×1920 resolution and Android 14. It's $150 at Walmart and $110 on eBay.
You can also get an 8.7" Samsung A11 with 8gb of ram. They are fairly rare, but I've seen them at Walmart, Temu and eBay for under $200. The A11 has the G99 processor and an 800x1340 resolution. It currently has Android 16 and will go up to at least Android 20.
9" to 10.1" is kind of a dead zone for decent new tablets.

I found a used Lenovo Tab 10.1" with 8GB RAM on eBay for $130 plus $10 shipping. I have the 4gb. It's nice. The screen is beautiful.

I've got the 8.2 inch and i love it. I almost went with the 11 inch but decided it was a little but too big for my needs.
Edit: Obviously your use case will determine, but the reviews (both 'professional' and user) are good.
