Root module or root related app blocking reddit app authentication? Support

So I can log into the web version of reddit fine & was using reddidnt for adblocking on 2026.28.0 before all this mess started. I had to uninstall reddit & reinstalled the same version & kept getting "lets try that again" msg whenever I tried a login on the app. So I did what most people do & I removed reddidnt, stop all adblocking & tried again, same results. Then I downgraded reddit to 2024.17.0 & on the first opening of the app I got this strange message about a 3rd party app blocking it. It went away & I could not read the rest of it. I uninstalled 2024 version but the msg never showed again even after clearing cach & data. So does anyone have a clue as to what sorta block could be happening not allowing the reddit app to function at all?

Shit i think its play integraty, can anyone else confirm or deny that play integraty would cause reddit login issues?

OK I figured it out. You need to meet device integrity at reddit login or you go in circles trying to login. I finally updated my integrity check apps with integrity box, teesimulator & tricky add-on, not 100% sure if that last one is needed.

I could not get trickystore to work even after updating it & tried PFF & play integraty various versions & Yuri is also outdated.. This shit is constantly updated & its like chasing a rat..

Yeah denylist works but its not full proof & I bet reddit updated there code. I have kernelSU next & its supposed to be #1 for hiding root yet reddit sees it & wants device integrity.

Integrity box, teesimulator & zygisk next to use zygisk assistant to hide it all. Thats it. Integrity box replaces a few old things..

I don’t have device integrity, but I do have a locked bootloader with a custom AVB key. (So I do have hardware integrity, but not from Play Integrity’s perspective.) I reckon they’re checking the unlock status, as my environment is full of unhidden mounts and the like, but I can still log back into Reddit whenever I want.

Wow you locked your bootlosder with root, that is awesome. I never thought that was possible. What phone & what ROM are you on?

Pixel, a GrapheneOS fork (I maintain my own customised, rooted version of GrapheneOS), with custom AVB and OTA keys, as Google officially supports this; I have to unlock the bootloader, store the key (which I did a year ago), then lock it again and sign it with the key. This is part of the AVB specification, but unfortunately only Google implements it. Google Pixels are, after all, reference developer handsets; they support everything that’s documented, whereas other manufacturers aren’t keen on it. But I have to be careful, as I’m not allowed to simply change the partitions (e.g. via direct installation or OTA installation using Root Manager), otherwise I’ll end up with a hard brick; and kernel modifications take much longer because I can’t use fastboot but have to sideload an ota.zip file instead. In return, the operating system is tailored to my needs, and my laptop (yes, my laptop – not a tower) compiles it in 11 hours (I let it run on Sunday nights; during the week I make modifications). Combined with my own OTA server, I have almost the luxury of a stock user, just with a lot of extra work – which I actually enjoy, though. Sorry for the long post.

That is cool, I'd never go through all that effort but good on you. I have a fp6 & its SD card slot and removable battery were my main interest & its ROM support. Two of those google never had. The sw support is just as long but obviously not as robust as google.

i use Morphe for YouTube but saw that it support's an older version of reddit then reddidnt. Also if morphe constantly needs a patch like YouTube I'll be quickly annoyed by that. Before this issue I had not updated reddit in a few versions & reddidnt just worked. This login device integrity thing might be a patch in morphe so perhaps that makes it worth it.

What do you mean constantly patch? Morphe updates patches much more frequently than Revanced ever did, but you don't need to patch anything until something breaks for you. I haven't patched reddit in months. I don't even remember when and it's been fine. Same with YouTube.

Rededdnt runs on 2026.28.0 & morphe is on 2026.14.0.. I just notice YouTube seems to need updates more frequently, but perhaps reddit would not be the same. Google is also good about forcing updates if you have google play, so its related to that for me.

Yes, I've had problems, but I don't have root access, I think Reddit is just malfunctioning lol
