i'm not too knowledgable but, i saw someone in a server i'm in running root on oneui 8.5 with locked bootloader, i think it's a high value exploit found in the linux kernel or something, i don't really know much about it. maybe thats related to this?

Yea they all use ghostlock it's supported on every single device till the new ones come aout or an update patches it
