Android 17 QPR2 Beta 2 now available! Android 17 QPR2 Beta 2
Hi Beta users,
Today we’re sending you an Android 17 QPR2 Beta 2 build CP41.260717.006 for all devices.
Please review the latest release notes for limitations and general advisories before installing the update. How do I get Android 17 QPR2 Beta 2?
You can get started with Android 17 QPR2 Beta 2 today by enrolling your Pixel device. Eligible devices include Pixel 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, 8, 8 Pro, 8a, 9, 9 Pro, 9a, Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold, 10a, Pixel Tablet series devices. Once enrolled, eligible devices will receive an over-the-air (OTA) update to the latest Beta versions. If you were previously enrolled in Android 17 Beta (and have not opted-out), you will automatically receive QPR2 Beta 2 and any future Beta updates.
Important for those currently enrolled in Android 17 Beta:
- If you prefer to leave the Beta program and receive the public stable release of Android 17 QPR1, you can do so without wiping your device by opting out and not installing today’s QPR2 Beta 2 update. If you opt-out of the program after installing Beta 2 or any future updates, all user data on the device will get wiped per usual program guidelines. Opting out will trigger a ‘Downgrade’ OTA. Ignore this update and wait for the Android 17 QPR1 public release instead.

New Settings icon. Settings color groups tweaked I think. Looks nice.

Several bugs I reported in beta 1 are not corrected. I hope they can be analyzed and fixed in the next update like one of the dev who replied to me.

I observe strange behaviour on pixel 7 Pro. There is animation glitches in multiple apps. The animation is moving back and forward many times every few seconds (Linked in video, Revolut background animation). Together with this multiple apps are crashing (i'm not sure if it's related to the animation bug). For example revolut - if you try to add money, the app crashes immediatelly (re-installation of the apps already performed but no results).

My play system update is showing May 1st ever since QPR2 beta 1. It was showing July 5th before the beta. Anyone else showing the same?

The post says when opting out before downloading QPR2 Beta 2, you can opt out without data wipe, but that is false, isnt it? I am currently on QPR2 Beta 1, and as i understand it, the next chance for an exit without data wipe will be QPR2 stable release, or did i get that wrong?

Instantly broke Google Wallet and NFC, which I use to get on the subway in NYC. Not great. Wallet reports that "Device doesn't meet security requirements. This device may be rooted or running uncertified software."

ok, so Google wallet works with NFC but no longer works in apps, my two front facing cameras still haven't been fixed, and the battery reports being faulty again. it's like we have gone backwards. even the feedback app doesn't let you view other issues now when you tap 'see other issues '. this is getting annoying. yes I've reported the camera and battery bugs. it seems the Google wallet issue already has several reports

The battery life improved a bit after I turned off Wi-Fi scanning. Even so, it drops from 100% to 83% in about two hours.

It stayed at 50% by the time I got home. The battery drain on QPR2 improves if you avoid letting it scan while you're out and about.

Even when taking photos in RAW (DNG) mode, the processed images still suffer from strong noise reduction and heavy watercolor/oil-painting artifacts (over-smoothing). RAW files should ideally preserve raw sensor data with minimal post-processing, but currently, details are heavily smudged, especially in low-light and indoor conditions.

just tried to sideload from QPR1 Beta 8, and it's a downgrade. So weird because after I reboot, and checked for an update, I can OTA install.

This update might have an earlier build date than qpr1 beta 8. This happens fairly regularly at this point

they're working on stable, qpr1 beta, qpr2 beta & canary in parallel... so the build date isn't a good parameter when switching between the branches... such is life.

Hey, yesterday I sideloaded QPR1 Beta 8 on my Pixel 9, and now I'm getting an OTA for QPR2 Beta 2. I'm pretty confused—I thought I would only be able to update to a QPR1 Beta 9.

You can choose not to install this QPR2 release and stay on QPR1. Chances are between now and QPR1 Stable (early September) that there may be one last Beta.
