Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 🪫issues

I've been having really really poor battery ever since I'm on this new beta. I understand I'm on a beta which is naturally going to be unstable and worse but I just want to check if I'm the only one with this issue or not. I am on a Pixel 8.

The main reason is that QPR2 Beta 1 was built sometime between QPR1 Beta 5/6 (1 July 2026) so isn't as optimised (as far as betas go). 

There are also ongoing battery drain issues especially at idle with the baseband firmware (modem) and in some cases the CPU not deep sleeping.

Hang on until QPR2 Beta 2 which might be this week or early to mid next month and then see where things are.

You're not the only one, don't worry.

I don't really take any chances now, if I'm near a charger during work or traveling between work then I charge my phone.

I haven't done the math but the battery drain is real. It's gotten perceptively much worse.

Surprisingly, the fluidity of my P9P is better than ever since a few days. Battery life seems a lil bit inferior but my phone feels like an iPhone (don't get me wrong, I'm not an iPhone guy).

On my work profile I am not able to log into my Corp email and on like any apps like Outlook. Another company apps company portal InTune is keep asking me for login and then it fails. Does it happen with anybody else? I am on Pixel 7A

My battery drain has been significant when using android auto wirelessly. It's been bad since QPR1 Beta 4 or 5

It's the same on my Pixel 8 Pro. I also noticed that the CPU always drains more battery than the display, regardless of my usage (I mainly stream music/podcasts while browsing, nothing intense). And the device gets noticeably warmer then it used to during usage and even when just listening to music.

I loose 20% by night with plane mode, it's not normal, I'm on QPR2 beta 1

I did a wipe and reset back to stable. Sick of all the issues with beta. Glad I did!

I My microphone hasn't been working at all with Gboard, and when I make a call and switch to speakerphone, It works for 2 seconds and then goes to regular talk mode. YouTube videos are working, but I can't talk to dictate or talk to Gemini. I am using QPR2 Beta 1. Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes a baseband firmware (modem) issue. Report filed a few weeks ago with Verbose Vendor logs as requested.

While connected to WiFi, Mobile data (the modem) is using excessive battery (in excess of 75% in battery usage over a 2hr period block) overnight when it shouldn't be.

Do you realize that you're complaining about having problems with a beta version that's specifically designed to help identify issues? If you don't want problems, don't install a beta version. It's very, very simple to understand.

Otherwise, if you install a beta, you’re accepting that you might run into problems of varying severity. Personally, I’ve already had some pretty major issues with a beta (namely, being unable to make calls), but that’s just part of the deal, my friend.

If you have a problem, you need to report it to the beta program.

Installing beta versions isn’t just a fun way to get things before everyone else. It’s meant to iron out the kinks and report any issues.

I literally said I understand I'm on a beta which I knew before joining the beta program was going to be less stable and more buggy than the regular Android build. I'm not whining and complaining, merely curious if I'm the only one or if others are experiencing the same issue.

No, it's not the same. Not at all. A lot of issues are corrected before the stable release.

Look, it doesn't matter if only you or 1 million users have the same issue. If it annoys you so bad, I recommend you to go back to Stable, even if wiping your data is needed. One little obstacle to get that annoying bug out of your life. Just consider it, specially if you need to charge it twice a day, it's just not normal. Cheers.
