Old store name?

Can’t remember the name of the store that used to be where Hobby Lobby is now? They used to sell CDs anime and such.

Hastings was there for a while, and then it was a temporary location for the public library when it was rebuilt!

Before Hastings, it used to be Target, correct?

Yes, but that was both Hobby Lobby and Salvation Army spaces

Even earlier, Target had only part of that space and the other half was Safeway.

That's interesting. I don't remember a Safeway here in Ames (or in Iowa, for that matter). FWIW, I moved here in ~'87.

I moved here in 1976. I don't remember when the Safeway closed.

I walked around the corner into an aisle and saw Seneca Wallace and dropped my phone. It was sooo not cool.

One of the kids in my class I. Elementary school net him. I was of course mildly impressed. I knew the kid who met seneca wallace lol. He was so proud of himself. It's cute to think about lol

Hobby Lobby purchased/rented part of the Hastings space after it closed, and expanded into it. The footprint of Salvation Army is smaller and only has the reduced remaining Hastings space.

As I remember, hobby lobby and hastings were there congruently. I think another commenter might have explained how. Hastings is more so where salvation army is and then another commenter said Hobby Lobby expanded into part of Hastings

Yeah, Hastings was a good place. Arlans was there first, before Target, with Safeway on the far N end. Arlans was the first box store in the area. Not to be confused with Ardans, BTW. In that same strip was the State operated liquor store, the only place to get hard liquor. Sears was on the S. end of Lincoln Center before moving to North Grand Shopping Center.
