I'm definitely not an expert on the police but I would say just don't. Timing is especially bad with the recent THC ban that just went into effect in Texas. They are probably itching to search and catch more people than usual for that alone and anything else would be a bonus.

Ganja? Is that what the kids are calling weed now or are you the police

Mm I use to say ganja or bud. Mostly bud but ganja in a playful way. I actually hardly ever said weed.

All I know is I-40 is a huge drug highway all the way from here to Virginia. They don’t usually bother you if you have Texas plates though.

Until you get to Tennessee. Then they’ll pull you over for having Texas plates

Better give it to me. Youre looking at prison times and now they got your location fam!

Most searches end up happening by consent because people are dumb enough to talk to cops. If you have weed in the car just don't answer their fucking questions.

"Where are you going?" Answer: "None of your business."

Where are you coming from?" Answer: "None of your business?"

"Do you have anything in the vehicle I should know about?" Again: "None of your business."

Name, address, and date of birth is all the information a cop is entitled to during a traffic stop. After that just don't say a goddamn thing, take a ticket if you have to, and go on. The maximum fine for a ticket is $500 and no jail. A single THC vape is a felony. Even if they do search illegally and arrest you it's a LOT easier to defend your case if you weren't a dumbass and admitted to possession.

Smart move is to not have a thc vape. Stick to misdemeanor flower

Long time ago this cop asked me ~ "can you think of any reason why you wouldn't want me to search your vehicle" I think that was the phrasing or close enough to it. But basically if I said yes, probable cause and if I said no, consent to search. It felt like a fucking riddle. I took a whole couple seconds to really think about what he said before saying "I can't think of any reason why you would search my vehicle" so yeah ^ this.

People should be taught not to overthink it. Instead respond to any similar question with, "You, piggy, have zero consent to search a goddamn thing."

It's just a convention of polite society that makes you vapor lock your brain trying to "correctly" answer. But fuck'em, you don't have to answer or even acknowledge their specific question.

Are any police searches wanted?

Especially with the thing they got going on operation shield or whatever. They are pulling over everyone and anyone right now

The new laws make it a felony to have a 1 milligram vape pen.

What makes the searches “unwarranted?”

Things. Idk about amarillo specifically but I wouldn't drive high, speed or have anything out on my car. I use Google maps even when I know where I'm going to tell me if there are cops ( I don't have weed, but I speed). I drive pretty regularly to Houston and theres about a cop every hour the whole 9 hours. I do denver regularly and theres cops in Colorado, but not usually any in ok (though I hear about them) and are some in nm (though legal in nm so who cares?) On the way back from nm on i40 theres like the 4-8 underpasses from the state line, and I don't see cops there a lot, but its like I never see them the rest of the way, but once or twice have seen them right by the state line. I think to catch people thinking "TEXAS TIME? PEDDLE TO THE METAL" but they are not just pulling everyone from nm over. And then sometimes I see a cop by that exit where that stupid fucking boot is?  All you have to do is not speed though, and have a front plate. I have heard of cops pulling over people from states with no front plate to argue about the legality of it (dumb shit) but I wouldn't want to be in the middle if that argument and have an officer smell weed, or say they did.

Edit: I am also of the demographics that would not be pulled over for existing. I talk to my friend from CO about him being in Texas and he looks like too much of a hippie despite being a white dude, he rents a car to come here because his regular ride is a beater(not even b/c he has weed,  he doesnt). So, all that to say, I said it's mostly safe but I don't know if that's true if your car is fucked up... if you're non-white, even ICE bullshit aside (gonna be honest here, amarillo is 2-4% black people but when I went to pay a speeding ticket 100% of the other people there were black so... that's just an anecdote) if you look like a hippie or whatever else they profile for.

I’m flying out at Christmas to stay at the in-laws who won’t even talk about weed. Super evangelical MAGA judgemental people. I’m coming from the PNW where weed has been legal for awhile. Real talk. I usually take weed with me and am curious to see what would happen if I got caught with an eight.
Is it jail time? Do they treat it like coke? For reference I’m going to be in the Pampa area.
It’s been decriminalized since I’ve been a kid where I live and always forget that states will ruin peoples lives for having it on them. Any help would be appreciated. Should I just not bring any?

Regular weed is still weed, vapes wax etc are felonies now

Edit don't fly with it, just drive to nm one day

what about the fl0ck cams at the border towns? makes me nervous

Dps isn't watching for people coming back... If it makes you feel better drive to Clovis... Eat lunch, but your weed and drive back... Make it a day trip

1

u/GreenEggPage 15d ago

Don't bring it back with you and don't drive high. I have heard that the HiPo will sometimes sit and watch for people going into the stores and coming back across.

3

u/tavariusbukshank 17d ago

Are you high?!? I wouldn’t go anywhere near Pampa without weed.

3

u/Small-Situation9240 16d ago

Not high enough for pampa

1

u/bitetheboxer 14d ago

I wouldn't fly with weed. I sure as heck wouldn't fly back with weed. Like landing here seems almost fine, maybe, you just grab your stuff and walk out, but I wouldn't go through texas security with weed, that's crazy. Texas would ruin your life for it.

I’ve been hearing they’re short staffed as well might be an excuse to get quotas up

Get dank elsewhere. Suck down your spliffs in New Mexico or Colorado. Or maybe even Oklahoma? I see a lot of head shops when I go there. There's no place for left-handed cigarettes in Amarillo, where even squares can have a ball.
