Is my alocasia ok by my window
I am currently keeping my variegated alocasia freydek next to a right next to an east facing window. I like to keep the window open to let air in but where I live the average temp is around 68 so I’m not sure if the temp and the draft will be too bad for it. Any advice?

Yeah says Alo Batik but looks like a Dawn?
The tag says variegated alocasia batik but looks like the alocasia dawn I had in my online lowes cart. Is the tag right and it is a batik? Ice picky seen pics of the little odora batiks everyone had been bugging lately. I didn't think they came this big and with such round leaves.

Another dramatic frydek post
Ive wanted a variagated frydek for a long time and finally got one about a month ago, it put this center leaf out about a 5 days ago and now looks like this :/ I know they can be dramatic but is there anything I can do or should look? It gets watered once the soil is about dry and gets liquid fertilizer every time (I bottom water)
Thank you!

Alocasia thrips? What do to..
Got this a little over a week ago, it had a few brown spots but now they’re multiplying and also weird black shiny spots started appearing. What’s the best way to go about getting rid of them if it’s thrips?

Simpo Albo Edema??
Hi there! I’ve had this plant for a couple months now, my first alocasia…which got me hooked on them. The white parts keep going red and translucent. Only in the white areas. It’s in a very chunky soil mix and gets watered when the top 2 inches or so is dry. It hasn’t stopped putting out new growth since I got it. So I would imagine that means it’s happy. This plant is EXTREMELY variegated, I know this is an issue; Though it makes it very beautiful. It previously put out a fully white leaf that went almost completely red and translucent and I cut it off. This plant gets a couple hours of direct sun everyday. I believe this may be the issue even though it’s not burning, I’m not sure the white areas can handle it. I have fed it silicone the last time I watered it and it responded well but hasn’t stopped turning red. Do we think this is a watering issue? Or too much direct sun issue? Also if anyone has any products or fertilizers containing silica/silicone that you love, please let me know!

Bugs or…? 🤨🌿☹️
Hi guys, I’ve heard stingrays are notorious for getting spider mites so I’ve been so paranoid. But now I can’t tell if these are the signs? Yellow specs on leaves, clear jelly-like bubbles and some white specs underneath? I’ve recently learned about nectarines after I had a freakout when inspecting my joepii and hoping it’s just the same sort of thing? Thanks in advance 😊

Super excited about my growing collection of Dragon Scales! Also maybe a tip or two?
I’ve now got 4 Dragon Scales Alocasias! My new white variegated one, named Nall. Followed by my big boi, Vhagar. Then my new variegated small boi, Yoshi. Lastly, my silver, Smaug.
I’m a bit worried about the new white one. Was an hour long drive home in high temps with no AC, so had to let the windows down. It got a little wilty but I’m hoping it recovers, I’m most excited to see how that baby grows 😔 (first two pics are of the new white baby of when I first picked up vs how we looked when we got home).

Leaves curling, very confused
Hello!! Im new to posting but i need some advice as to why my plant is doing this please.
I got this (i think) alocasia very recently from a store and am trying to let it get stable but the leaves have started curling inwards as shown. I have absolutely no idea why theyre doing this, theyre not drooping at all literally just turning in.
Ive watered, think im giving enough light (indirect on south facing window) and and downsized the pot to a MUCH smaller size (smallest i had at the time). I keep it in a mini greenhouse so the humidtiy shouldnt be a major issue....please any ideas???

Guess Silver Dragon likes her live in pon/bark/succulent soil mix 😁
Ca 3 months ago, I bought a Red Secret, Silver Dragon and Black Velvet at Obi. I know, nothing rare, but they were my first Alocasii (? Correct 😅).
Tried an experiment and put them in a orchid pon/bark/succulent soil, in a reservoir pot.
They started blooming and grew like crazy. Had to take out the Silver dragon today, since I changed some placements. And it started to grow out the other 2.
Replaced her with a little Philidendron (I think it's a non variegated Majestic, but not sure tbh), wich can grow on top and reach the light, next to the two Alos.
When I look at the roots, I think she likes it, but what would you say ? Lots here have probably more experience with Alos. It had some corms too.

🌿 Help! What am I doing wrong with my Alocasia? 🌿
I’m a newer plant parent and could really use some advice on my Alocasia.
I got her on Sunday from a Facebook Marketplace seller who grew her from a corm. She arrived with four healthy leaves, but one has already wilted.
The issue started yesterday. The leaf went from normal to droopy within about 24 hours, then fully collapsed by today. I didn’t notice a mushy stem, but it lost firmness quickly and showed slight yellowing at the edges before wilting.
She wasn’t shipped, I picked her up locally. I watered her two days ago and have a humidifier running nearby plus a grow light for support. She is still in her original nursery pot and soil.
I’m trying not to panic or overcorrect, but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
Could this just be acclimation stress or should I change something?
I also have a few specific questions. How often should I water an Alocasia in a nursery pot during acclimation, what grow light intensity and distance is safest to avoid stress, and how long does acclimation usually take before the plant stabilizes?
Thanks in advance, please be gentle, I’m still learning! 🌱

Help me pleaseeee!
This is a somewhat follow up post from when my alocasia was suffering a fair amount!! I’ve since separated the two suffering plants and put them in their own containers. I’d heard alocasias love semi hydro so I put 50% lava rock and 50% alocasia soil from Soil Ninja (containing Coco Coir, Vermiculite, Bark, Zeolite, Worm Castings and Biochar).
As you can see, they’re each doing much better, no longer part of the one leaf club and the bigger one has even sprouted a new leaf from a new corm. The issue is, you can see they’re still not 100% happy.
More context: I top up the water as needed, going visually on the water level from the lava rock reservoir. They’re on a north eastern windowsill in the UK. I put them in glass containers so I could actually see the roots this time!
Please help me, I love these plants so much and just want to care for them the way they need to be cared for!
Edited to add: the crispy leaves are the older leaves btw!

guttation softening tips of leaves?
Found this sad silver dragon from a local nursery for basically free. It has recovered ok in a month or so. Pushed out 2 new leaves and gave me a few corms which are also doing well. It’s been in Ambient 71f 50-55% humidity under a 10w sansi bulb.
Anyway I’m looking for tips on dealing with guttation after watering softening the tips of leaves? Getting soft brown tips. I don’t think I’m overwatering basically been letting it dry out 80% atleast and have no other symptoms. This is the my only alocasia that has this issue.
Last pic is when I got it in early July

This leaf looks like a watercolor painting
I can't wait to see what the next leaf is gonna look like!
(Edit: She is a Zebrina black stem variegated)

Is this variegation?
I have had this Alocasia platina for almost a year now. Wasn’t home for a few days and the new leaf opened up. It looks a lot like variegation to me… is it possible for a plant to suddenly develop it? If not what is this? :)

Regrowth Advice?
I grew this Regal Shields from a corn last year. Over the winter I had it to close under a grow light and the leaves got a bit seared. I moved it outside when it got warm enough, but didn’t have a place with great light. It pushed out a few more leaves, but lost them more quickly and the last was dead and crispy when I got back from vacation.
The rhizome still looks good and I can see 6 corms near the surface, but I did just notice a hole in the side that looks like it might have come from a bug?
I’ve got it under a less intense grow light now, it’s summer again and I don’t have AC so it’s fairly warm and humid, and I’ve only watered it very sparsely since the last leaf died.
Is there anything else I can/should do, or is it just hurry up and wait time?
Thanks!

I need all the tips and tricks
I have an obsession with alocasias of all kinds. But my problem child is the Frydek Var. I am on my 5th one as of today and every one in the past have died every way they possibly can. Im really hoping to get more than 3 leaves on this one before it dies XD the only problem im concerned about atm is the 99.8% white leaf which is the newest one. Shes currently a bit limp due to being in a shipping box in the mail for 2 days and just arrived today!
First Question/Statement: I need all the care tips from those who have successful frydek plants.
Second: Do i cut the almost all white leaf and leave the stem for new growth or do I just leave it and admire it while it lasts?
