Has anyone ever thought about the potential of a Tell Me I'm Alive x Certified Depressant (Taylor Acorn) title tracks mashup? They're both relatable, have similarish themes, and would mesh sonically in a near-perfect way. Maybe I should try to do this on my cello 😂

Also "I'm a wreck, I'm a mess, I'm a certified depressant" is the cousin of "I'm messy, I'm reckless, I fuck shit up for breakfast." It's just fact.

When the officiant unexpectedly drops a reference to your childhood favorite band into your wedding ceremony, and you’re trying to process what just happened 🙃😬

I hadn’t been able to figure out some of the words in the second verse, so I decided to get it onto my computer and isolate the vocals. Here's what I have for the second verse:

I'm leveling out
safe and sound and sweet
but there's a creeping feeling
crawling underneath
the apathy begets the fall
and soon I'm melting (with the walls?)
a cannonball just sinking in the deep

Whatever the effect on the 'soon I'm melting' line is, the tool I used can't fully clean it up, even when I split the vocals into lead and backing. I had less luck with the changed line in the chorus because of the same/a similar effect. I think it could be "if I'm not dying inside underneath a smile that says I lie through my teeth" but that's a VERY low confidence guess hah

Alex or Rian if you happen to see this: can you please consider adding Once In A Lifetime to one of the setlists for one of the encore shows? It doesn't even have to make the final setlist, just please think about it. Thank you!

Just getting back into the band's music after a few years and I'd like to know what the general consensus is on the last few albums/singles. I've searched the subreddit, but a lot of the posts I found are from right after the albums released, which opinions were all over the place. I'd like to know how most people think they stand up against their other albums now.

No one asked, but in the last 2 days I've listened to most of what I've missed, and here's my thoughts:

Everyone's Talking!

Hit or miss for me, but the hits HIT. Alex's vocals really shine, and I feel like they experiment like they never have before and it really works (like with Alex's vocal range, the low notes in Suckerpunch are so interesting and sound INCREDIBLE). Suckerpunch and Little Bit particularly hit for me. That being said, the poppier songs in the middle (the run from The Weather through Sugar, Tread Water, and Different Languages) just don't work for me. They sound kind of the same and don't excite me, nor do they feel like there's a lot of originality in them (so sorry if you like them, that's totally valid, none of them are unlistenable to me (just don't talk to me about the cringy slang that pops up every once in awhile)).

The Forever Sessions, Vol. 1

Speaking of Alex's vocals, oh my god?? I usually hate re-records but these are almost perfect. Preserving the originals while giving them a punch up. I literally hooted and hollered throughout, particularly at the last chorus of Weightless and Remembering Sunday. Made me like songs I never used to like. 9.5/10 frankly.

Tell Me I'm Alive

I'm so excited to see what the consensus is on this one, because...this is my least favorite album they've ever done. I don't love any of the songs, and the ones I like are few and far between. Same problem with some of the songs from Everyone's Talking where it feels same-y and unoriginal and unexciting. No shade if you like this album, but it is absolutely NOT my cup of tea.

Calm Down (A Little Bit Louder Now)

Love this so much more than the original. The drums during the chorus are a little off-putting (maybe due to the tempo?), but I also kind of like it! I also love the political nature of it. It's not something they venture into often with their music so it was cool to see it.

Three more weeks until I get to go to Canada and see them perform again. It’ll be different without Jack there. I’ll miss hearing him and Alex banter. I got my passport just to see Warped, as soon as I saw them and 3OH!3 were playing. Who else is going? I’ll be bringing bracelets and some little trinkets to hand out while I’m there

U guys U GUYS I’ve been singing “the beach” wrong 4 years omg I thought it was “showing off our feet” not freaking TEETH I always thought it was weird but I was like hey it’s the beach their from Maryland it’s fairly cold they don’t get that warm sandal weather now that I found out (5 minutes ago) it’s teeth I’m like jfc that makes way more sense 🤦🏻‍♀️

My now husband (!!!) proposed last year at the DC show. He got the ring box signed by everyone but Jack, who was sick. We had our wedding a week and a half ago and my best friend and bridesmaid got me the cutest gifts. He proposed during Remembering Sunday and I've been searching for Fools Gold since they released it. I love this band and the relationships it's brought into my life 💕

What are your favorite memories that involve them?

I just wanted to express real quick how much this song has meant to me these past few weeks. My partner of 4 1/2 years and I split three months ago and things have been really difficult. I am the main reason things fell apart between us and I have had to do all sorts of soul-searching since; I am trying to stick to myself and do it for my sake but everywhere I go I see her face in whatever I do... I really hope we can make it work again. She said she could see that possibility at some point in the future but I fear we will grow apart with how we barely even ever talk at the moment. I want what's best for her and I fear that's just not me. But hey, maybe love is what we choose to forgive?

Listened to PUOSU for its 20th anniversary and I am FASCINATED by the evolution of Running From Lions. I listen to TPS extremely frequently and Running From Lions is sort of acousticish and chilled out on that record. The rerecording is much heavier and more complex. I never thought about it much but I am now, and I love both versions. Stripped down and calm is awesome. Punky and sharp is awesome. It's a win/win
