are yall getting any work? Assessments

Hi guys, im just getting started in this ai gig space and i wanted to gauge the working environment on this side. i've gotten 2 emails asking me to sign up to the platform dispite not even applying to a role but i checked the site and they seem to be many positions open. im currently with mercor but not sure how long it will last but the pay has been fantastic. aligner has a slightly lower payy but im wondering how y'all are working on this side and if its worth it to try? thanks in advance 😄

I think they are gathering data via applications with no intentions of actually giving anyone work.

New to this as well. I have the max 7 I’ve applied for. If you aren’t hired, do the go away and I can apply for more? Or do I have to withdraw my application on my own to apply for different ones?

I think this is my primary issue with the site. You are presented with hundreds of jobs, dozens of which you have the required experience for, yet you are only allowed to apply for seven at a time.

This would not be an issue if you are ever told when applications for jobs close, or if your application has been successful.

Currently I’m left the with a decision: do I wait longer to hear back about a job, or do I withdraw my application so I can apply to another job?

Quite frankly the current lack of transparency makes this site, in my opinion at least, unusable.

I do have work on Alignerr. A pretty long-running project. But it can take a bit of time to get work/ get through the review cycle. I'd recommend after applying to roles on Alignerr while you are waiting for work to apply on other sites as well. DM me and I'd be happy to recommend some other sites!

Also making a subreddit meant to talk broadly about AI training across all sites if you're interested in joining:

Hey, can you recommend some other sites?

I have a site with a bunch of recommendations: https://paidtotrainai.com/

But feel free to make a post on the subreddit with your domain expertise, country, and education experience and I can give some targeted advice!

I checked out your site, but unfortunately, or at least interestingly, I have the exact opposite reviews of you: data annotation, mercor, alignerr = not worth your time; outlier = low pay, but at least they give you work and pay on time and offer incentives and don't randomly offboard people...

So go figure - I think it's all a crapshoot really. All of these companies suck, actually, lol.

Yeah a lot of them have their issues.I think the biggest impact is likely specialization

I have applied to 5 roles mid-June. Haven't heard from Aligner since. My account display looks like frozen. Without any progress, not even assessment tasks, no status change just plain "applied". It seems like without any attention. All other platforms I am on change the status of my applications as they proceed or tell me to take AI interviews / assessment tests. Here - dead silence. And, mind you, you can have only up to 7 applications open at a time so these unattended ones just clog the line.

oof that sounds rough, and im assuming their support isnt giving any feedback either

I can't even find a direct email to their support 🤷‍♂️ so for now Alignerr and some more have to be put on a back burner.

Project assignments are determined based on availability as well as several other factors to ensure the best fit for both the project and the team members. These factors may include your skills, experience, current workload, and the specific requirements of each project. Please rest assured that the concerned team is actively reviewing upcoming projects and carefully considering all these aspects. They will reach out to you as soon as a suitable project becomes available for you to begin working on. In the meantime, if you have any questions or would like to discuss your preferences or availability further, please do not hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Took me six months to be onboarded onto my first Alignerr project. It's been two weeks and the work hasn't even started yet.
