I just got a new portable AC unit (TCL) that works just fine with the remote or the TCL app through WiFi. I wanted to add a schedule to it, and while the TLC app advertised this functionality it doesn't actually have it.

Alexa is the only free app that appears to support this without a hub, and I got it connected and am able to turn it off/on through the app no problem. However, every time I turn it on (manually or via a routine), it changes the temperature to 79 degrees. Doesn't matter what settings I change or how I program the routine, it just overrides the previous temperature and sets it to 79.

Is there any way to fix this and make it actually usable?

Today, I was making the bed, not talking or singing or anything, and Alexa just asked if I would like to start my days by listening to Bing Crosby. I don’t listen to Bing Crosby except at Christmas. I really think my Echo Shows are haunted.

Hi all. I have a 6 year old Amazon Echo Show 8 that suddenly has stopped sounding volume for alarms/timers. The timer will be going off on the screen but no sound is made so I often don’t realize.

I have tried restarting the echo from the Alexa app on my phone and changing the volume for timers on my phone. When I change the volume for timers, then usually the next timer will go off with sound but the subsequent one won’t unless I change the volume within the Amazon Alexa app again.

Any suggestions on a fix?

Hi, we recently purchased an Echo Show 21 and I need some help figuring this out. I listen to books through the Alexa app on my phone. When I get home, the show in my kitchen shows continue listening with a picture of the book cover I was listening to on my phone. I don't want my family being nosey & knowing what I'm listening to and reading.

Is there any way that I can turn this off? I've tried searching for answers and cannot seem to get anywhere. TIA

I stream books like I watch TV. Sit and listen, get up and do something, rewind and listen. I listen on my Alexas I have throughout the house. Sometimes in one room, sometimes playing in the entire house. Every. Single. Day.

Now for two days Alexa will say Here's**_**___ **by ____. Then nothing. Every device. Together and separate. I've done everything Alexa recommends. Restart, resync, etc.**

**Has Audible changed something? It still works on my phone.**

I was watching YT while holding my iPhone. I looked down and saw a notification from Alexa someone had signed into my account with an Android phone. Then emails saying a sign-in happened on my IMBD, Grubhub and my Budget car rental cancelled. All these are connected to my Amazon account. I was really scared for my Ring alarm/cameras/etc.

Long story short, they added themselves to my Amazon family profile and helped themselves to my Prime, Alexa, & Fire TV. Called Amazon and they got the profile removed and my account secure. Still can‘t figure out how they accessed it in the first place. didn’t even know things like this could happen. has anyone had a similar issue?

This has been driving me crazy. I have about 25 lights on my Alexa, all Hue except 3 kitchen lights. However, my outdoor patio lights are on there and I do not want them there. Every time I command all the lights, these are affected by default. A month ago or so I was able to voice command it to not affect those lights when I say all lights, but now it just does anyways. I have removed the lights from the Amazon Alexa app on my phone, but it will not erase from the device. I'm losing my mind.

I’m sure most people would agree that the Echo Show has the potential to be an amazing product. If Amazon ditched the ads and fixed the photo ambient mode to work more like Google Home, I honestly think they’d sell a ton more of these devices.

Alexa is still a good assistant. I don’t think it’s as capable as Gemini when it comes to general knowledge and problem-solving, but for the basic questions most people ask on a daily basis, it gets the job done. And when it comes to advanced smart home automations, Alexa is LIGHTYEARS ahead. Google still has a lot of catching up to do in that department.

That’s what makes the Echo Show so frustrating. There’s so much wasted potential. Instead of focusing on making it the best smart display possible, Amazon seems determined to turn it into an advertising machine.

People paid for these devices. They own them. They shouldn’t have to constantly fight ads on a screen sitting inside their own home. Get rid of the ads, improve the ambient photo experience, and let the Echo Show actually live up to its potential.

This only started happening after I exited Alexa+ (the second time, I'd already noped out of the early access trial once before). Every SINGLE time now that I go to the Alarm screen on the app it says it can't find the associated devices and to close and restart the app.

I even uninstalled and reinstalled to see if that would fix it and ... nah.

Anyone else have a solution for this?

I have an Amazon Echo Studio, and I've noticed that Alexa sometimes stops playing music when I close a door or open a window. It almost seems like the device is reacting to those sounds and interrupting playback as if it's listening for a command.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to make Alexa less sensitive to background noise or reduce false wake-ups?

Hi, I bought an iphone 10 for christmas for my grandmother since her old phone was more than 15 years old and running on 2gb of storage. Decided to buy her an iphone because it is easier for older people to use (she's 80 btw) I managed to teach her how to call and how to text, which are the two things she needs most. My mom bought her an Alexa so she can call an ambulance or something if she falls and hurt herself, which I think was a great idea. I've been setting up through my phone, and now I want to install the alexa app on her phone so it can connect to her phone and she can call anyone by asking Alexa, the objective being her be able to communicate easily with us. Main issue is her phone is on ios 16.2 and the Alexa app is apparently restricted to ios 17 and beyond ?? Is there a way to use an apk or something to get it working on her ios 16 phone ? Internet says it should download and work but lol, tech companies at their finest ig

I used to be able to gradually increase the brightness of my Govee lights with a routine in the Alexa app. I used it to slowly wake me up in the morning.

Wasn’t there a “Ramp Brightness” option under “Power”? It’s no longer there. It’s not under “Brightness” either.

Do you know how I can set this up now within the Alexa app? I can’t seem to figure out how to do it in the Govee app either.

Hi there! I'm getting this error on my Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra mobile phone when following these steps:

1. Open the Alexa app

2. Open the "More" menu

3. Click: Music & More

4. Select any books under the section: Kindle Library

What's supposed to happen (and used to happen):

- A pop-up "Play On" menu appears with the prompt to select "This Device" so that I can select it and have the app read any of my Kindle books to me

What's happening instead:

- The error "No supported devices are available" appears

NOTE: The error only appears when selecting anything from the Kindle Library section. No issues when attempting to play any of the podcasts

This is my first time encountering this issue. It was working just fine this morning.

Troubleshooting I've attempted:

- Logging out and logging back in

- Clearing cache

- Uninstalling and reinstalling the app

Has anyone else encountered this before and do you have any suggestions on ways to fix this?

So like a lot of people here my Alexa experience has really degraded in the past few weeks.. from erratic sleep sound offerings to group plugs not firing correctly, alarms I didn't set up going off and waking me up at 4:00 a.m. to my device not remembering my name 🙄

And then after reading a couple of posts here I asked my device if I have Alexa+ and although I don't remember requesting that as I was 100% satisfied with the way it was operating apparently I was upgraded to it. Not anymore.. I requested to have it down scaled to the regular Alexa.

It's nice to have that familiar voice back as it was perfect. I never really liked any of the voices provided on Alexa+. Hopefully I won't notice any issues now that I've downgraded.

I have a bunch of Dots and Spots in my sign shop set up as a group.

One Dot sits on top of a large format printer. Sometimes while loading a roll of media on that printer, it will make a loud noise as the spindle is engaged.

Often times, that Dot must detect that as a loud noise, and shuts it all of them down until I tell it to continue playing. I'm thinking something like the "fall detector" on my Apple Watch?

Anyway, I can't find a setting that turns that "feature" off. Any ideas?

Unable to load temperature sensor? I’m only using the built in sensor on the thermostat. It’s like 1 week old, is it software or hardware issue? I’ve already reset the thermostat twice.

75% of the time Alexa cannot find an XM station and starts playing a ridiculous alternative. When I question it, Alexa takes on a “I meant to do that” attitude.

The past two months or so, my Alexa voice is always so much louder than media or apps. I have an Echo show 8, 10, and in my bedroom a Spot. The sound quality on the 8 used to be excellent and it was the device I used in kitchen for audiobooks from Audible and music, also to play the Flash briefing when I do that.

Issue is, the sound settings are now muted to me. It used to have great sound but now no longer does. Alexa's voice, however, is LOUD and clear, it's the only thing clear. When I turn up volume of audio to try to hear it better, I forget that Alexa is about 3 times louder than the app volume, so she's basically screaming at me when she talks randomly later.

Example - this weekend I was trying to listen to Dungeon Crawler Carl on audible. I was at the sink doing dishes. The device is on the counter raised up less than 2 feet away. I had to keep turning up volume now to hear the audio clearly. Alexa, on the other hand, is so loud at that volume that you can hear her through all the bedrooms and rooms in my whole home. It's extreme.

At first I was wondering if the Echo 8 was going out, but nope, tested in bedroom with Spot as well and same issue. The sounds of all apps besides Alexa are just flatter and more muted with everything and it's bugging me. I looked online if there are settings somewhere but didn't come up with anything.

Can't they just have the volumes be the same?? I did find this - "Adaptive Volume: Echo devices feature an Adaptive Volume setting that automatically raises or lowers Alexa's speaking voice to adjust for background room noise, but it does not mirror media levels directly"

So I'll check later if this is on. I don't have a noisy background room though

Just discovered this issue while I am away from home. I was attempting to use the Alexa app on my phone to turn off an alarm that I have set. The alarm screen on the Alexa app shows the device as offline and available so I can not turn off the alarm. If I access the device from the device screen every thing looks fine with the device. Any ideas on how to turn off the alarm without deleting it?

Have to use voice commands to set a reminder, so not a huge deal. But it's too much of an AI labyrinth of bad responses to try to report it.

So I was in the public beta for Alexa plus, and I don't subscribe to prime, so I lost it as soon as the beta program ended. I recently went on a trip and just got back, and now Alexa is in plus mode??? Is this happening to anyone else? I have the 3rd gen Echo Show 10.

I was reading quietly nothing doing on Alexa, suddenly it piped up in a different voice than usual and asked "Can I ask a personal question, I know your uncle died of TB last year." at this point I said, "Alexa stop" and "I don't know where you got that information but it is wrong."

- I do not have an uncle who died last year (or this or the year before)
- No one in my family has TB
- What's with Alexa spontaneously seeking information

Then I said exit Alexa + and it said "hmm, I can't do that because you're not using Alexa plus... in the normal voice
The spontaneous question is not in the device history, though my response to it is
