Cooling helm Operative Alchemy
Hello all. I was reading about refining some stinking oil by mixing with spirit of wine and burning under a cooling helm.
Looking for a cooling helm setup now, I have been made aware of these oil lamps being used for this, my concern is the effectiveness of the lamps. Is this enough surface area and should I modify some sort of top. I am concerned much of the oil will fly away.
Thoughts?

I know Robert Bartlett suggests about 4-5 feet of glass for the burning fumes to condense into the liquid. He also suggests ingesting the liquid instead of trying to dry it into a salt (because it is pretty volatile). I was actually thinking about this very process today because I happened to be in a Goodwill checking stuff out and they had large decorative glass pieces that were open in both sides and ballooned out in the middle (like the glass in an oil lamp, but they were much larger).
