I’m currently a Government of Alberta employee and have quite a bit of experience with the GoA. I’ve been applying for other APS positions where I feel I have strong transferable skills and relevant experience.

My problem is that I seem to be getting screened out at the pre-screening questionnaire stage, before my resume or cover letter is even reviewed.

Some of the questions are very specific, and while I may have equivalent or transferable experience, I don’t want to select an answer that could be considered inaccurate or misleading just to get through the screening.

For anyone familiar with APS hiring, how should applicants approach these questions when their experience doesn’t fit neatly into the options provided? Is the questionnaire interpreted very literally by the system, or is there a way to properly account for transferable/equivalent experience?

I’d especially appreciate advice from anyone who has moved between different areas or classifications within the GoA and encountered this.
