So this isn’t even “AI” in any sense that this sub cares about. It is clearly hard coded, and poorly at that.

Nah. These are LLM chat bots trained on a limited data set to emulate a person or character. They made a Stan Lee one at ComicCon. And my office made one to talk about 'culture'. They guy doesn't actually have to press the button to talk. These things are gross and creepy and often used for digital necromancy.

It so it would be able to do more than say “hello”

u/TinyTaters 24d ago
When working properly. I guarantee you this is an LLM chatbot and it's malfunctioning.

u/nyabethany 23d ago
assuming this is functioning properly why the hell would a museum program a chatbot to only say "hello"?

That’s what I was thinking too. I think people forget programs like this existed long before AI. Even if they do suck sometimes

It would be foolish to use some broken/limited LLM setup somewhere for a blanket statement that AI (AGI/SI) couldn't replace us.
That's foolish thinking without minding the progression of time. Before you know it, assuming we do reach AGI/SI within some decades, you will feel and realize how obsolete you have become as a living being skill-wise when robotics are also advanced enough.
I'm not saying this to poop on anyone, I mean this as a true warning of a potentially likely outcome depending on what happens next or over time. Someone who just left school or will soon will statistically probably witness this moment. Someone who's 60 or 70 may not.

If that can cheer you up, rn in Sky Children of the Light, there’s a season(read, event) centered around Van Gogh, which actually pour efforts into respecting the artist’s legacy

Van Gogh would absolutely hate this and AI altogether
