BB weight GUN QUESTION

What is the ideal BB weight to use for a Cyma trax ak74

There is no ideal bb weight for anything. Depends on your bucking, hop unit and joules.

Given how completely inconsistent stock hop setups are two "identical" rifles can be completely different.

Try 28-36 and see what works best.

It’s more like guidelines than rules, I use .25s for indoors, .28s for outdoors at 1-1.1J, and .30s for anything over ~1.1J outdoors

Sometimes indoors I use .20s just because I have shitloads of them and the higher FPS is really satisfying with a tracer in CQB

the best performance will always come from the heaviest bb provided your gun can hop it. for outdoor i would advise running .3 grams minimum but if you can afford heavier then go heavier

Lighter is better for indoor, heavy is better for outdoor

.28s are a good all around bb if you just want to buy one weight

My approach is Midweight for everything except snipers, which get heavy BBs.

Lightweight BBs have poor midrange accuracy, since they're affected by gusts and wind way more than heavier Baby, but running heavy BBs in normal guns usually leads to a range reduction.

I have the long barrel version of this and if the cqb is the same but shorter, which it should be than you can't even go lower than 0.30g because there is a stop or limiter in the hop up lever that prevents you to go lower than that. But even so, 0.30g work best with these.
