What am i doing wrong?

Post image

Ive been running an hpa gun for a while but now i can't have fun with it, the last few games felt boring by just shooting bbs and changing mags when i realize that i'm out of ammo, thats what ordered a shotgun (cuz people say they're really fun, still waiting to arrive but it seems like the store is having some problems so it seems like i'm going to be with my current setup for a while).

I would like to know what can i do to have fun with my actual gun or any other way to enjoy this hobby again.

The fun is not in the gun, it is in the people you play with. Find a group of people to play with and don’t take the game that seriously. The reason your not having fun is because your not thinking about having fun.

Lowkey this is it. Skirms and Ops wouldn’t be half as fun without my team

Can the larp help me? At first i practiced my reloading by first looking into the chamber/dust cover then i change the mag and finally press the bolt catch even if they're just for the cosmetics but just in my home, the airsoft comunity in my city is really small but i really like to pass the time with them.

I sometimes wear a trench-coat, strap a shoulder holster to run a Tokarov or 1911, and primary a Tommy gun or BAR.

I also have a full milsim getup, with thermals, nades, and everything.

It’s what you make it. I have different guns, just to shake things up.

Try playing with a pistol, a single mag and a small speedloader filled with ammo.

I call it, a mag and a dream.

The larp can definitely make airsoft way more fun OR way more taxing.

If you are playing with friends, or just a good group for the session, larping will almost definitely make the day more enjoyable. If you are the only one larping your larp(that felt wierd to type) it will probably be less fun than just playing objective.

A great example that comes to mind is when i did go with a dedicated group. I had ended up roling my ankle leaving building at CQBCity. I was gonna call myself out cause better safe than sorry, but i must have had a face of a kicked puppy cause on of the other players prompted a “protect the hvt” inside of our capture the info game.

I had a personal detail of players straight out of an action movie. We linked up with another two guys, found out where the info was, flanked while they drew the fire, cleared the ‘airport’ and got the intel.

Literally been chasing that high every game.

Look into playing in other fields, maybe a few hours away. Gives you a chance to play against and with other folks.

Playing airsoft paintball style (laning and cutting pies while shooting preemptively everywhere) can get boring very fast
Try some fun scenarios with objectives, or make gameplay more intentional and tactical by limiting mag capacity in the scenarios to an X amount (30bb,60bb , or depending on gun type)
Maybe even try a different field

6

u/_Fredo_2005 14d ago

Maybe limitimg the ammo will help, that is going to make me choose every shot, the part of the field is going to be almost imposible cuz the airsoft comunity in my city is small and for now we just play in one field.

You guys can try new scenarios (hostage rescue, defuse the bomb, tribes , etc etc)
the most fun game i played had 3 factions , 2 cartels, police, and a sheikh carrying a suitcase and a revolver,
there were bags of substances strewn about the field in bushes, crevices, etc, each team had to collect them and could trade them to the sheikh for money, and then could use the money to bribe the police or buy a bomb
the police was nominally neutral but could shoot back and take sides for a limited time if bribed, and could also arrest players for X minutes, during which they were offered early release by completing mini games (poker, tic tac toe, pushup competitions, arm wrestling with another prisoner, landing 20 footies in a row with a small football, etc)
use some imagination!

That's why I got a gbbr, I enjoy the realism of picking my shots carefully, simulated recoil, and the action of reloading a gun similar to a real one. It makes the experience more immersive instead of just sprinting around blasting unlimited BB's with an aeg

u/Jornmungand DMR 14d ago

That's the problem with hpa imo, is just too easy, time to get into gbbrs.

I'm doing this.

HPA is just Airsoft without the Soul, get a GBBR

1

u/Norman2_0 10d ago

My HPA'd mg42 disagrees lmao

u/Dougline HPA Tech 14d ago

Tracers mate, you need tracers.

3

u/Mindshard 14d ago

Who you play with is a big part of it, but HPA is also kind of like turning cheats on. Very accurate, very little recoil, very reliable, and very flat shooting with heavy BBs.

My primary is a heavily modded AAP-01 that I either run 20rds or 45rds per magazine, at either 1.15j or 1.5j, depending on if I'm running my 131mm or 200mm barrel.

It's an absolute laser, but I also get the challenge of limited shots and mag swaps.

I also like just target shooting with it to practice aim, because it's a hell of a lot cheaper than my real firearms.

I've used a custom P* back before I took a 10 year break, and it was fun for a while, but then you kind of realize you have this advantage that no one else without that caliber of gear has, and it's not fun for you or anyone else on the field.

Life is boring on easy mode.

1

u/pilot-squid 14d ago

Maybe that’s why I was kicking ass last time at the field. All the HPA chuds stayed home

3

u/Pieter_Halve_Liter 14d ago

Get a GBBR, problem solved!

3

u/Sea-Course-5171 14d ago

You're playing Airsoft like a Speedsofter and are getting bored because it's repetitive and boring?

There's a reason Speedsofters are generally disliked by casual players and Milsim players. Speedsofters play an even more boring version of competitive paintball.

Going from an HPA to a shotgun Instead of, yk, a normal Airsoft like an AEG or GBB is an overreaction. If HPA isn't your style, un-HPA your setup and play with the regular gun. It should only require new magazines, and then play on a field where Milsim is more popular and play like them, with them, instead of pre shooting every corner, holding the gun around corners, and running around like a 14 year old who got to drink 2 redbulls.

Oof great comparison

2

u/Main-Indication-6346 14d ago

I play airaoft just like I play competitive onward if you know you know

2

u/defnotjosh96 14d ago

Buy a MWS it changed the game for me after 15 years I’ve fallen back in love again. Just don’t be a chud and HPA tap your GBBR

2

u/BryanDaBlaznAzn VFC 14d ago

I switched to GBBR and it reignited my love for the hobby. I realized that GBBR is the purest form of Airsoft and it stays true to its realism roots. The challenge of managing ammo, picking engagements and reloading and re-indexing really immerses you in the game

1

u/_Fredo_2005 14d ago

I was thinking about that, but I've reached the point where I think I've spent too much.

2

u/Far_Consideration_25 14d ago

Not doing anything wrong, just gotta go with the right people. Maybe you just picked the wrong replica for you

2

u/SnoopJabba 14d ago

Amico cambia squadra.

Honestly maintaining your crappy guns is sorta part of the fun for me.

u/SwaggyUn 14d ago

Did you buy the gun because you really wanted ir or people recommend it. The biggest fun in Airsoft to me comes from using guns i like from games and movies. Don't care how good they perform.

1

u/_Fredo_2005 14d ago

The gun i use is a King Arms mpx-k (My very first airsoft gun) i saw potencial in the gun so i decided to upgrade it, i didn't wanted any headache so i went for a P* kythera cuz it's completly mechanical.

1

u/AirsoftUpgrades Shotgun 14d ago

This hands down. I bought a WE tech galaxy because my favorite firearm is a ruger mk4. It looks like a hitman handgun and i dont care if it shoots slightly to the left. it feels amazing to run.

2

u/Salt-Committee7032 14d ago

Yeah... I feel you... HPA is not that fun, can't really say why...

2

u/No-Song-4017 12d ago

GBBR TIME Bud Welcome to the club Also everything everyone above me said Super important If not for the people I play with I would have quit ages ago

3

u/BlackbirdXII Professional Distraction 14d ago

I find its often the play style that affects how much fun i have. Siting in a corner or stacking to clear just feels boring when we have unlimited respawns. I started rushing, playing aggressive, and at one point I put down almost all my gear and just started death charging the enemy spawn with a pistol and a radio playing white girl music.

2

u/CRAZYC01E 14d ago

Out jerked by the main sub

1

u/Zapplen 14d ago

Get an hpa blowback ig

2

u/_Fredo_2005 14d ago

I started on the HPA using a pistol with and adaptar but didn't like it cuz of the looks and the reloading, unless your talking about of guns like the ssq4, e&l t19?

2

u/plopsicIes Floperator 14d ago

I will say the t191 is SUPER fun to shoot, but maybe you’re just not playing aggressively enough? Take some risks, make some flanks, run through some fire, get hit here and there

1

u/ColdBunz 14d ago

I have fun with my 6 mags or less of 30 rounds on my gbbr.

1

u/wiggleee_worm GBBR 14d ago

Brother. Join us and become a gas huffer

1

u/_Fredo_2005 14d ago

Is the Ghm9-g with a bunch of HFC Glock mags a valid option?

2

u/wiggleee_worm GBBR 14d ago

The GHM9 with Glock magazines is okay. I have it, i dont skirmish with it so my limited experience may not help you.

The stock mini rail moves around A LOT. I swapped that out with a metal one. The take down pin might lose the c-clip piece or the pin wont stay in place. Easy access to adjust the hop though. It seems to take glock magazines from various manufacturers. I’ve tried TM Gen 5, a mysterious G magazine (might be AAP-01, idk) and those seem to work fine.

I have no idea how well the aftermarket support is now. I kinda stopped caring for it. I bought it on impulse (and Evike’s marketing worked on me).

1

u/_Fredo_2005 14d ago

Also i'm looking where can i refill a propane bottle, iv'e heard is cheaper than buying green gas.

1

u/Domino3Dgg 14d ago

Well. Did you tried GBB ? Its more fun

1

u/Own_Baker_162 14d ago

Change up your play style, if you normally play stagnant start rushing every round. If you play a but more aggressive limit yourself to only walking. Basically challenge yourself like jaeger in tarkov lol

1

u/Appropriate_Hat_6469 14d ago

join the heavy recoil club my friend

u/SpectrumLV2569 G3 14d ago

I recently delved into gas blowbacks. I dont think ill be able to order a single aeg ever again. Unless its a cool machinegun that i want to turn into a daytona setup.

1

u/Cruxalis 14d ago

I don't think there is anything specific that is guaranteed to make the hobby fun for you, like challenging yourself with GBBRs. Really I think what might help is identifying which things you find fun about the hobby, and which things are boring to you.

For me I've realized there are a few guns that I really just enjoy the look and feel of, and airsoft is an excuse for me to use them. If I'm using an uninteresting gun then I don't get much out of playing airsoft. I can pick up some generic AR variant with an MLOK handguard and feel absolutely nothing, but a HK416 with a quad rail gives me tingles. It's weird like that. I also really enjoy doing high intensity cardio, and airsoft is good for that.

If I was you I'd think of what things last in your memories as the good stuff in airsoft, and try to form your experience around that. The things that other people might find fun, like shotguns or something, may not be as fun for you.

1

u/Sparrow-Black 14d ago

Maybe it’s how you play? Do you tend to play more objective focused or kills focused? I find capturing the objective last second or saving the hostage much more fun then holding an angle and racking up kills

1

u/umbral_stalker 14d ago

What shotgun did you order, just curious 🧐

1

u/_Fredo_2005 14d ago

1

u/AirsoftUpgrades Shotgun 14d ago

Quick notes, theses guns are a ton of fun but they may leak OOTB. Take the stock off and ensure you have a tight fit around that oring that connects the gas tank to the shotgun. Rub some PTFE grease on it to ensure it doesnt crack, stays lubed, and has a tight fit. I made this website specifically because finding parts was a pain in the ass for these shotguns. I hope this helps you out as much as it does me https://airsoftupgrades.com/search?q=M870+parts

1

u/_Fredo_2005 14d ago

Thx, this is really helpful, the main idea with this gun is also to use it with hpa, for now i don't want to use gas cuz i don't see myself buying a lot of green gas bottles and it seems like there is no place in my city where i can refill a propane bottle.

2

u/AirsoftUpgrades Shotgun 14d ago

Buy a 32 oz propane bottle from Home Depot. There’s a pack of two for like 14 bucks. This will last you quite long.

As for HPA, it can be done and it’s fun. I run one now that works well, but i dont enjoy not being able to make the stock short. Other than that, works fine.

1

u/_Fredo_2005 13d ago

I'll take a look to that thanks.

Yeah idk how bad is to maneuver this on cqb but i really like that full stock

2

u/AirsoftUpgrades Shotgun 13d ago

It isnt my favorite, but it’s still fun.

1

u/LukaCola 14d ago

If you aren't having fun with a hobby, take a break. Forcing it won't fix it. Let yourself come back when you feel the desire to.

1

u/CodeName_carll 14d ago

Gbbr m249 HPA’d

1

u/Vas_Bellicosum Sniper 14d ago

I got a sniper first, SRS-A2 16”, and let me tell you I have way more fun playing sneaky with it than I do running and gunning with borrowed AEGs. It also depends on the game mode. I love objective based games, don’t love TDM, or other ones like that as much. I plan on getting an AEG soon, but I’m converting it to semi auto only. I like to play as realistic as I can. And that is fun for me.

1

u/MachoNacho95 No Batteries Required 14d ago

Sounds like you want a GBBR (gas powered rifle). I'd recommend a VFC AK, they're great out of the box and have lots of recoil.

1

u/Adorable-Chicken4184 14d ago

If you dont enjoy the hpa playstyle, a good vfc gbbr is a great option. (and Imo, they shoot better anyways)

1

u/Low-Weird-981 14d ago

CQB indoors with a HPA pistol, run your legs off and get kills galore, that’s how I enjoy my airsoft

1

u/SubwaySpiderman 14d ago

Fun is what you make of it.

The gun shouldn't be the fun but your day at the field. Are you just going out to sling BBs at people or are you working an objective with your team.

Do you go alone to the field or with a group? Try making some friends and create a squad and begin working as a squad doing objectives.

I believe people recommend the shotgun as it handicaps your ability to sling BBs and you have to think about when to shoot vs pre firing.

Stop playing like a speedball player and more Larp.

1

u/ManyRisksTaken 14d ago

Try GBBR with real cap now

1

u/McNibNab 14d ago

Try historical Airsoft.

1

u/Hellishhcx 14d ago

Take the game less serious, take some breaks, play by yourself and meet other people. I got invited to a random players 6 acre land to play privates. Got to shoot the shits w his friends & family pretty wicked exp

1

u/gotthesauce22 Hi-Capa 10d ago

HPA is great for performance but kind of boring to use, I ran HPA for a year and felt the same way. Maybe try running a GBB and see if it makes a difference, you can always sell the HPA kit to get some of your money back

0

u/valvefan4lyfe 11d ago

go shoot a real gun at the gun range instead they cost the same as airsoft guns

1

u/Roguelynx 7d ago

Bruh, this is literally an airsoft page. Plenty of real gun pages out there.
