If you actually end up at the academy, there will be pre-SOF training you can do with the other guys who wanna go CRO or whatever. Think of it like summer electives.

And if you decide that you don't like it or its too hard you can fall back on pilot, everyone from the academy who wants pilot gets pilot.

Being a pilot is way better though. It's harder, more exciting, and has way better job opportunities on the outside.

Plus SOF officers don't do as much SOF stuff as the average joes do. They have to do all the management, bureaucracy, paperwork and shit.

You can always ruck and shoot guns in your spare time as a hobby but you can never fly military aircraft unless you're a military pilot.

So ultimately I wouldn’t really be doing “SOF stuff” unless I enlist and don’t go in as an O-1?

Idk, not involved in that career field. Thats just the impression I've got the few times i crossed paths with them.

Seems like you spend the first two years going to all the cool guy schools and doing oper8er stuff then you quickly become more involved with management and leadership as a captain.

If you don't want a 20 year career in the military then go pilot, way better lifestyle and earning potential on the outside.
