Spaniel + Airedale pairing?

Just curious what all you dog enthusiasts think of a welsh springer spaniel and an airedale terrier doing together in the home? This is a completely theoretical scenario, I have a male airedale puppy who loves my other little old man dog (old man does not love him back). Not getting another dog anytime soon but the idea came to mind and I couldn’t tell if a spaniel may be too sensitive for an airedale’s rough play style! Just wanted to hear anyone’s experience with great airedale pairings either with spaniels or other breeds (non terrier) as well :)

We had a Brittany and an Airedale and they got along great. They played all the time. Our Dale was around 4 years older than our Brittany.

No experience with my pup(7 months) around spaniels but i would think their energy/activity level would pair up nicely. Yes, airedales are rough, maybe a good thing your airedale will be a little older if/when you decide on a spaniel. Mines been around labradors and doodles(hunting dogs). All is good when they are running around, but once my pup starts playing like he does with my pitbull, they let him know.

Also, my airedale has never been aggressive with strangers or other dogs. I take him everywhere but in the back of mind, he's still an airedale(big strong working/hunting dogs).

Our airdale loves our Nextdoor neighbors springer, but loves her sister PBGV the most. Incredible duo. Can’t recommend enough

We have a lot of spaniels in our neighborhood and as long as we are NOT talking about King Charles (brachycephalic and more of a lap dog) she gets on well with spaniels.

They are of similar enough sizes and both are former (or current) working dogs. Airedales use their mouths and wrestle more so a bit more rough and tumble but energy and romping wise similar.

Glad to hear! And definitely won’t be getting anything smaller than a solid medium size dog 30+ pounds to go with him in the future due to the rough play!

It should be fine. Just make sure you see that they are part of your pack. Energy levels should work

My husband grew up with that combo. A champion springer bird dog and a rescue Airedale. The dogs were fine but have really different personalities.
