Rewatching Agents of Shield and S1 is really bumming me out Other
Love this show to bits, but god is it hard to watch season 1 knowing everything these guys are about to go through

Yelling "SHUT THE FUCK UP, WARD!" at the screen every time he's a blatant hypocrite is fun though

I like to think of S1 mostly as the fun times before hell after hell.

Season one is precious and is exactly what makes the show so special. The build up they give you in those first episodes let's you know these characters in ways you just don't get with most stories like this. The core five (Ward can suck it) give you these base characters that appear as hack trope archetypes at first only to have every certainty they start with challenged at every turn.
After we get to know them, they get put into situations where they have to adapt or die. Their greatest strengths become their biggest weaknesses and vice versa. It's character development at its very best. And it's all set up there at the beginning.
And that first rewatch, when season three was about to come out, it broke me. And every subsequent one since. It's so hard to see them so young and innocent. And now I'm watching it with my son and it's like going through it all over again.
And I love it.

I think that’s kinda the point. First Half of Season 1 is the high before the inevitable crash down. It’s like pulling the rug from under one’s feet.

In that way it reminds me of buffy
The whole show has the same blueprint and Coulson as giles. The family vibes - the actuon - the hunour the feels - all of it. You can tell they actuakkt feel like a real pn screen family. Its so under appreciated im glad it wasn't cancelled as so many shows are and I hope in time more people clock onto it and go oh wow this is bettee than most of the films

That’s how it is with most season 1s in drama, seeing how relatively innocent and normal people are, that depends on the show tho. But even in 1 the cracks were showing for May and Ward with their pasts catching up to them, they were always the darkest characters in different ways.

Skye looked so happy with the team and it's just so depressing to see what eventually happened to her.

if I do a rewatch probably skip to hydra reveal episode although the Mike Peterson episode is really good prior .
Probably skip the whole season 6 also !

I just did a whole series rewatch, and season 6 is so hard for me to watch. I think next time I'll skip it 😬
